Good luck having 435 representatives and 100 senators each without a common basis. Washington was extremely naive to think that political parties wouldn't or shouldn't be formed. Political parties are only bad when they're either a puppet party of a dictator or when their interests clash so much, that nothing can be legislated.
Political parties are deterrent to the interest of Americans in the constituency of the elected officials.
These representatives should be selected by how much their views reflect those of the people in their communities.
More often than not, Senators and Congressmen abandon their followers to appease party leaders, no matter the conflict of interest it might show to the people who elected them.
And I don't get how anything would be legislated with 435 people each with different, competing interests. Hell, legislation can't get passed with 2 parties with their own interests. Having everyone as an independent wouldn't be viable since there'd be an absolutely crippling deadlock. There wouldn't be any sort of consensus or front to make decisions from.

No. The truth is, the routineness of it all. We're a small bunch. Personalities shine through in lower numbers. By now we all know each other to a fair degree.
Which leaves our options for talking, in an increasingly smaller window. An exhaust of metaphorical resources, those resources being new subjects, and interesting things to discuss. New faces to converse with. Even people to challenge in a conversation.
The well is running dry, so to speak.

Quantity vs Quality can only be taken so far. This forum's freaking barren. Over the course of yesterday, barely a single page was filled. Today, about 2 1/4 pages were filled. That's a far cry from January where about 5 1/2 pages were filled on any given day.
That's perfectly fine if they're better posts than in January.
With that being said you do have a bit of a point. More activity will be needed shortly.
I doubt this forum will die completely anytime soon but the more the merrier I suppose is what I'm saying >.>
