I dislike being invaded too, but it's because of the fact that my latency and the games inability to match me with people in my region despite having a region lock makes it impossible for me to defend myself. So I just hide and wait for them to get bored. It at least contents me that I'm saving others from them temporarily while they fuck about in my lagtropolis.

I think another thing that made Reach firefight annoying is that you had to contend with Elites as the main military force rather than Brutes. There's just way more variants of them with more shields that makes it harder to take them out. And as far as I remember, in ODST your stamina recovered faster than the shitty Spartan 3 shields do in Reach. Could be wrong on that though, been ages since I played either.

I'm about to start a file. I'm mostly worried about food and water. The save thing is a little annoying but if I'm constantly having to spend my time searching for food and water to live, instead of actually completing quests and going new places... I dunno. It just seems like you're going to have to spend a lot of time searching for things like food and water instead of "playing" the game if you know what I mean.
You find food and (dirty) water everywhere. All this does is make it useful.
Does dirty water have any other consequences in survival other than rads?
Yeah, it increases the chance to get certain diseases. But you can also take (no joke, I love it) herbal supplements to increase your disease immunity.
When it was in beta, I did see people saying that you get hungry and thirsty really fast, did they change that at all? Cos I don't really want to be eating and drinking basically continuously
I didn't have access to the beta, so I don't really have a point for reference. But you get hungry at a relatively reasonable rate; I lived out a regular day (no fighting or exploring) to test stuff, and it's a pretty standard breakfast/lunch/dinner thing. The shitty effect is thirst, though. You don't have to drink a lot at all if you're just living, but using any kind of chem seems to instantly bump you up a thirst level.
Okay that sounds alright then, I don't use any of the chems, I just sell them so I should be okay. I was just worried because in the beta people were saying they were getting hungry and thirsty like every 100 steps

I really don't, not if I try and play it properly anyway, I like my gimmick invaders like Farmer Fred who just pitch forks people. Or this guy in the clips, Estoc Bestoc, just to be as scummy as possible. But this is why I never touch the pvp.
Only reason I'm doing it now is 'cos you can get the infinite red orb so early on, so it's not much hassle.

I just want the cross regional thingy to work, it doesn't seem to do anything haha. I have had like 1 or 2 invasions where it went fine. But I probably did like 30 or 40 invasions tonight and won 6

For full effect, use a greatshield, high endurance and also have a Dark Sword in your second slot in case they dodge around you too much.

I dunno it's still pretty bad, my latency is so bad that my estoc doesn't stunlock people, they just take all the damage at once after they roll away. I've parried quite a few people at least which I think is pretty good given the circumstances. Unfortunately I usually instinctually roll away even if it's successful because I just assume nothing works for me in pvp
