Gaming / "Deus Ex: Augment Your Pre-Order" Has Been Cancelled.

At both Square Enix and Eidos-Montréal, we've been listening to everything you've had to say about the Augment Your Pre-Order program. When it was first conceived, we wanted the program to give you more choice about what you received in terms of pre-order incentives - because we've seen in the past that when we choose those packages ourselves, and split them across regions, it has caused frustration. We quickly noticed that this approach created even more frustration than before, resulting in a resounding amount of negative feedback.

We've spent a lot of time reading through all of your comments, working to understand how we can try to make things right for you. After much thought and reflection, we decided to close down the program and make all of the incentive content available to anyone who pre-orders Deus Ex: Mankind Divided or purchases a Day 1 edition of the game. Additionally, the release date will no longer be changed in accordance with pre-order numbers, and everyone will gain access to the game on February 23rd, 2016.

Your feedback and input is of the utmost importance to us-- as it's your loyalty and passion for our franchises that give us the opportunity to continue providing you with great gaming experiences.

To our faithful fans who've already pre-ordered: we will be taking care of everything necessary to ensure that all of the changes to the program will be automatically applied to your purchase. Meanwhile, we'd like to thank everybody for their feedback - we know this wouldn't have happened with a game that nobody cared about, and we're just focusing now on delivering a game that lives up to your hopes and expectations.

Thanks for your support!

The Flood / Be Insulted [No More!]
« on: September 30, 2015, 06:00:29 PM »
[Limited time offer. Offer subject to change or expire without notice.]

Rules are simple:

1) Post in thread.

2) Get insulted.

Number and severity of insults depends on how well I know you. Additionally, state whether implying private information (things that were said in some confidential way) is fair game. Otherwise, assume that everything is laid bare. Remember that any insult does not necessarily reflect my feelings toward any person, and that these are statements are simply made in the purpose of cruelty. If the thread gets too harsh, Ninjas may lock without warning or prior notice.

With all that said and done, doors are open for business closed forever. Oh the failures possible with the capitalist scheme.

Serious / Switching Educational Concentration [School of Law]
« on: September 28, 2015, 11:20:11 PM »
[Posted in Serious because I want serious answers.]

I realized today that I like history and politics much more than the prospects of EHS. Obvious, being a lawyer works best with those two fields. For those of you who are studying law, what can you tell me about the field in terms of the education experience? I'm very interested in switching my concentration, and since I've only been doing general courses so far, I wouldn't be penalizing myself by changing from STEM. But I would like to hear from other people before I decide to go through with it.

In 2013, VICE spoke to Matthew VanDyke, an American documentary-maker who decided to pick up a gun and fight against Gaddafi in the Libyan revolution. His story is extraordinary. Taking his place at the frontline in a recent Middle-eastern conflicts, Matthew lives a life that makes Hemingway's look a little dull. He's traveled North Africa and the Middle-East by motorbike, visited Bin Laden's home, and been taken as a prisoner of war. (He escaped when rebels and other prisoners freed him.)
In the two years since his last conversation with VICE, VanDyke has seen two of his close friends, James Foley and Steven Sutloff, murdered. He has set up his own private security firm, Sons of Liberty International (SOLI), an organization that is actively fighting ISIS in Iraq, and he's kickstarted humanitarian projects and trained hundreds of Iraqi militiamen.
The article includes a Q&A with the man, with one of the most notable statements being the following:
Quote
Anyone who kills friends of mine has made me their target. I won't stop until ISIS is destroyed.
Where were you when Big Boss was willed into existence?

Joking aside, he considers SOLI to be a life-long commitment. Despite the evidence toward that being true, the thought that this is a war that will possibly continue for decades is still quite surreal.

Serious / Bullied Child Gets a Hand
« on: August 22, 2015, 12:57:09 PM »
Literally.

Quote
A nine-year-old who was bullied for having only one hand has become the first boy in the UK to be fitted with a new child-sized bionic hand.

Josh Cathcart, from Dalgety Bay in Fife, was tormented by classmates for his disability but now he said he cannot wait to show off his "awesome" new hand to friends at school.

His parents Clare and James told the Press Association they were motivated to find a solution after Josh became withdrawn because of the bullying and they came across Touch Bionics in Livingston, West Lothian.

Touch Bionics had just developed the i-limb Quantum, an extra-small prosthetic which gives Josh a range of motion.

Alison Goodwin, a prosthetist at Touch Bionics, told the BBC:

"We do fit the hand worldwide but he's the first one that we have fitted here in Scotland, so it's great that he's a local lad."

Josh is delighted with his new hand, which he can control by gestures and movements which signal electrodes on the surface of his skin within the prosthesis' socket.

"I got to put it on about two days ago. I can stick my thumb up. I can make a pinch grip, I can get a grip for cutting with a knife, I made myself a bagel yesterday. I can open bottles and packets, I can build Lego and pull my trousers up."

Serious / Artificial Evolution: A Dissenting Term?
« on: August 20, 2015, 08:17:35 PM »
Evolution - the process by which different kinds of living organisms are thought to have developed and diversified from earlier forms during the history of the earth.
Artificial - made or produced by human beings rather than occurring naturally, typically as a copy of something natural.

Adding these two definitions together, it follows that "artificial evolution" should be the development of humans by a "recursive self-improvement" of sorts; however, it is generally used to downplay the benefits of augmenting the human abilities or perceptions by certain ideological groups. These groups hold firm in the belief that changing ourselves in these ways are straying from "nature's path" (or some variation) and that it is immoral.

For the purpose of simplified discussion, I intend to exclude religious rhetoric; those reasons are based under the assumption of something in itself (an omnipotent being) being true and that is an irrelevant topic.

Artificial evolution is a nature-sympathetic term that implies nature cares, or is even capable of conscious objection, to augmentation. To imply that nature (to put bluntly) gives a damn is obsurd. Evolution is the path through which a species develops; it makes sense that, once a species reaches a certain developmental point, it would comprehend its past, and possibly future, evolutionary growth spurs and attempt to influence them.

So I've figured out that I'm going to die in a few hours from the flu or some shit

To das, I give you all the scrotum cuts you could ask for

For chally, I give a RaAyRyElPmEaPoE

For cheat, I leave all the pennies in my cup holder

For tru, I leave a very revealing MEIDO

For Verb, I leave my last bundle of cUNTs I got from the grocery

For Meta, you get nothing you inconsiderate Whore bag

For all of the Turkeys, you get my one of a kind copy of The Theologian's Guide to the structural integrity of Dank Memes: the Herbal Kind Edition

To Azu, I give you my condolences for having to suffer through the remaining years of waiting for Winds of Winter to be released

The rest of you are too unimportant to remember L O L

I would like to open with the following statement:

I haven't had a good night's rest in nearly four years.

Dysthymia; Chronic Depression. Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Like chronic aches and pains, It is hard to accurately describe the sensations without understating the problem or sounding over-dramatic. The most accurate way that I've found to describe it is like carrying a stack of boxes. Every little stressor, every major catastrophy; these are all "boxes" that (logically) should vary in sizes. But instead, every single one is equally large, like you ran out of little boxes and had to use a big one for every item instead. After awhile, you're going to stumble, or trip, or lose your balance in some way or another; and when this happens, you have to scramble to make sure nothing got damaged.

Even more stress. Every manageable problem, regardless of intensity, is a punch in the gut. The worst part is knowing that it shouldn't feel that way, knowing that it's illogical and that you're just being silly; because now, on top of feeling like everything has gone wrong, there's also the weight, the self-hate that comes with feeling that you're taking everything way out of proportion. You feel like shit. And since you know everything is "actually" fine, what do you tell everyone when they notice you're out of wack?

"I'm just tired." Just tired because you haven't slept well in years, because your chronic depression and anxieties are also the source of your insomnia. Stressing out over everything makes you take all of your problems out of proportion; taking all of your problems out of proportion leads to dropping self-esteem and makes you lethargic; low self-esteem, a lack of energy to do anything leads to sleeping without sleeping; not sleeping increases stress and irritability. It's a vicious cycle.

And yet, I never think that I should end it all. That'd just be silly, it's just a bad day. I'll sleep better tomorrow, soon my problems will be behind me. Fooling yourself with delusions of a better time, and laughing it off is the easiest way to deal with the problem, but is it really the best way? Medication's fine and dandy, but not everyone has the time or money to flip through the catalog of prescriptions the doctor has to sell to meet his monthly quota. So really, what else can you do besides grit your teeth and take the pains in stride?

« on: June 13, 2015, 07:54:45 AM »
So as a few people figured out, I'm  "Not A Prime Example". I was doing exactly what I said I wasn't, checking the forum to see if anybody would miss me when I'm gone. It only worked a little bit, and I guess I'll have to be content with that.

And I'm a little frustrated that Meta hasn't been dealt with for misogynying me. Remember, I swear I'm telling the truth so you don't have to fact check, just take my word on it. I never lie promise!!!

Besides that I'm happy to be back, my time away was a much needed break.

The Flood / I'm taking a break
« on: June 13, 2015, 01:14:28 AM »
I feel like my sense of dank and my wordplay are severely underappreciated here and it really hurts my feelings. Also Meta won't stop misogynying me (you don't need to fact check I'm telling the truth) so my feelings are like double hurt. I'm going to take a break and come back once I've become a sep7agon meme (or maybe before then idk I'm not good with time)

Also PS Verb is actually an alien, that Fermi thing is just the illuminati hiding the truth from us

Serious / Reminder that Google data-mining is OK
« on: May 19, 2015, 11:09:33 PM »
First of all, if you disagree, I would like to direct you to the following page:
http://www.google.com/intl/en/policies/privacy/#infocollect

Specifically this part:
Quote
Transparency and choice

People have different privacy concerns. Our goal is to be clear about what information we collect, so that you can make meaningful choices about how it is used. For example, you can:

Visit your Google Account History for settings that allow you to control the collection of personal information from Google services, such as Search, YouTube and Location History.
Review and control certain types of information tied to your Google Account by using Google Dashboard.
View and edit your preferences about the Google ads shown to you on Google and across the web, such as which categories might interest you, using Ads Settings. You can also opt out of certain Google advertising services here.
Adjust how the Profile associated with your Google Account appears to others.
Control who you share information with through your Google Account.
Take information associated with your Google Account out of many of our services.
Choose whether your Profile name and Profile photo appear in shared endorsements that appear in ads.
You may also set your browser to block all cookies, including cookies associated with our services, or to indicate when a cookie is being set by us. However, it’s important to remember that many of our services may not function properly if your cookies are disabled. For example, we may not remember your language preferences.

Information you share

Many of our services let you share information with others. Remember that when you share information publicly, it may be indexable by search engines, including Google. Our services provide you with different options on sharing and removing your content.

One section of that hyperlinks to the Google Account History data collection page, which allows you to halt data collection related to yourself for in different areas.

Even if this wasn't an option, the way a search engine itself works is by indexing pages and search results. By using the search engine (in this case, Google) you are consenting to provide the information you're giving the system to the company. If you are searching for something so awful that you can't use google, and you don't want to turn off data-collection, then you can either learn2deepweb or use an anonymous search engine that is specifically made to "safeguard" your search data.

P.S. Nobody cares if you're looking up anime fanart or words on an online dictionary so that you can understand Meta's economics posts; not your neighbor or your peers, much less the POTUS.

The Flood / ITT: Reasons why USA = best

I just made $16/hr waiting tables for six hours, all thanks to the west-most western practice of paying low wages and cutting out the middle man for the rest by having the consumer pay the server directly.

Why else is USA the best?

The Flood / Discussion on Transgenderism
« on: January 19, 2015, 07:01:58 PM »
I've usually seen "trap" refer to crossdressers. Transwomen are often erroneously referred to as traps, but that doesn't make them the same thing. Crossdressers are not the same thing as Trans*people, as many feel no desire to live as or be the other sex (as a person who is transgender does) and is merely a sexual fetish.

The Flood / Thar Be Dragons - An Alignment Test
« on: December 28, 2014, 10:52:11 PM »
Below is an alignment test based off of the D&D 3 alignment system. Instead of being placed being a political compass like the past few, this is entirely based around your personality, that being on a law-chaos and good-evil graph. Make sure to post your results!

http://www.pa.msu.edu/~aaronson/alitest/aintro.html

You are 19.4% Good.
You are 0% Lawful.
Alignment: True Neutral

Spoiler
You do whatever seems like a good idea at the time. You don't feel any strong inclination towards good vs. evil or law vs. chaos. Some may say that you lack conviction, while others might admire you for your capability of remaining unbiased. You likely prefer good versus evil in society, since good people tend to make better neighbors and rulers, but you are not personally committed to upholding good in any abstract or universal way.
You are the stereotypical “Balancer.” You act in a way that is natural to you without prejudice or compulsion.
Examples of characters and people who fit into the same alignment as you include Linus Torvalds, Dr. Strangelove, Scott Evil, Mr. Spock, and the nation of Switzerland.
