Unfortunately it's just a downloadable of the Wii trilogy pack. It's just one of the given examples of Wii games that will be downloadable on the Wii U, meaning that it's going to use the Wii remote. Good news is that all three games work with the Wii remote natively, so you don't have to buy three controllers for it.

Mistanosejob, you can play N64 games on Wii U using the "Wii Mode". You have to use the Wii remote for it though, since Wii Mode uses the Wii hardware inside the system.
Wii Remote + Classic Control
This still makes me rage.  >:(
Well, the Wii U is actually a Wii U and Wii. When you play a Wii game on the Wii U, you aren't technically running the Wii U at all. That's why you have to use a Wii controller, because you're just playing a Wii.

That's actually what they're calling it?

...They realize it's not gonna be "new" forever, right?
Yes, the actual name is New 3DS. That way you can buy a new 3DS for the same price as a used New 3DS,  or get a new New 3DS for a little more than a new old 3DS.

New 3DS is still a really stupid name, almost as bad as "Wii U".

...i just caught that

oh my god i'm dying
the Gamecube is a cube.

3DS is a DS with a 3D option.

Wii was made to be used by everyone.

Wii U is a Wii with more of a focus on "U".

Gameboy Advance was a more "advanced" Gameboy.

I'm actually 99% sure that Nintendo starts with a name and builds around that.

Well, my biggest gripes with the 2DS lied with its design. Not only is it ugly, it lost the clamshell thing. I can't fold it up. That's really a big issue for me, because I actually like to protect my screens. And there's two of them. One's much easier to fuck up than the other.

But yeah, I guess no one uses the 3D <_<
We both know how Nintendo is with their designs and names. 2DS is 3DS games in 2D, so the console itself is "flat"! And removing 3D capability killed two birds with one stone: no 3D gimmick, and it improved the battery life by not being there at all.

Fucking stupid yeah, but I see the connection.

I think he meant it was a pointless invention.

The 2DS was, most certainly. 3DS XL?... I appreciate mine thoroughly.
Eh, battery lasts longer and a lot of people never bother with the 3D stuff. It's cheaper too, so I can see why some people would like it.

The thing is, no 3DS is really "better" than the other. They're just making them in reaction to complaints. "It's too small! What's the point of 3D? Why does it die so fast?"

It's pointless to reduce the price on the existing version when a new one comes out? This happens with electronics everywhere. Look at PC parts, GOTY editions of games, 360/PS3/Wii system changes, etc.

Are they bringing one of those out every year now or something?I swear I'm seeing 'new 3ds' all the time or something. It's getting like fucking apple.
3DS has been around since, what, 2010? The only difference between the "versions" is the size of the console, so it's not really like a 5/5S/5C thing. Console's had a five year run, and the N3DS is more like a DSi than a new entry: it's a 3DS with a few games that can run only on it. They'll still be making 3DS games after this, so unless some N3DS games come out that you just have to have or you want a second analog stick, there's no point in upgrading.

It seems like apple, where they release a *slight* upgrade every year that costs more money thn the last and then fase out the last version within the year.

I feel sorry for people who genuinely fall for this kind of thing.
They haven't fazed out the normal 3DS at all up until now, and even then that's spotty. The ONLY "upgrade" in the past five years was the screen size. And that's debatable as an upgrade because the screens are the same resolution, so everything looks more blurry and the system is more bulky.

So they're charging more money for a worse thing?

And people call EA a moneygrab.
3DS XL is the same price as the 3DS was when it released. There's only a difference because they reduced the price of the normal 3DS when it launched. Same thing when they released the 2DS, although it came out cheaper initially.

There have been three kinds of 3DS:

-3DS
-3DS XL (3DS, but bigger screen and easier to hold for people with big hands)
-2DS (no 3D for the people who want longer battery life and don't use the 3D function)

...You really don't think they'll make it so all new 3DS games will require the new one? Call me a pessimist, but I mean, I really wouldn't put it past them to pull that kind of shit.
Nope, because for one they've said that they'll keep making 3DS games here: "...some future titles will be exclusively playable on the New 3DS..."

Kind of related. Is the WiiU worth it? I want it primarily for the Metroid digital trilogy bundle that was recently announced. I only played Metroid Prime on the Gamecube over a decade ago and never finished it. I just have some questions:

Is there a decent selection of retro games available in the Nintendo eShop?

What is using that control with a built in screen like? Is it just a secondary screen for menus and items, or can I take it into a separate room and play Metroid on it?

How big is the Hard Drive? I would probably get most games digitally.

Is the pro controller worth the price?

Is it worth getting it for just Smash, Metroid, and potentially Mario Kart? I won't be playing locally with anyone, it would mainly be for solo gaming.
I think it is.

Yes, you have GBA, 64, NES, and SNES  to choose from. It's also backwards compatible with Wii games, so you can buy physical copies if you want those. Be warned though, Wii games need the Wii remote to play them.

The gamepad is surprisingly comfy. Its primary use is to act like the bottom screen of a DS, but most games have the ability to play "offscreen", but I'm not sure if that applies to to Virtual Console and Wii games. My only problem with the gamepad is its battery life.

8gb or 32gb, depending on if you get the standard of deluxe model.

It's a great controller. I don't think any controller is worth $60 unless it's something like the gamepad, but that's more personal opinion than a legitimate complaint.

Before you buy any console, you should have at least five games picked out for it (unless you're okay with spending $310 for a game). I'd look into some of the 3rd party games or DKTF.

My tablet would basically act as a cursor if you held it over the pad and only "clicked" if you touched it.

Is there a way to stop that happening?

Oh, and I'll look into one of those you mentioned, thanks.
It'd be a pain in the add if you didn't. Alternating between the mouse/keyboard and tablet to do everything is really cumbersome.

Holding your pen over the tablet should be like mousing on a tracpad.

As a rule, there are two things you don't price hunt on: tattoos and graphic tablets. I'd recommend a Wacom brand tablet, check in the range of 40ยฃ - 100ยฃ.

I don't have live.
You can play offline.
I don't feel like hooking my 360 up.
Lazy fuck.
Not only would I have to find the cords again, but I'd also have to unplug my N64 from the wall whenever I'd want to 360... and it's not an easy socket to reach.
Unless you're already overloaded with them, buy a fucking power strip.

Better than Horizon, but still not as in-depth as the main games.
