Then it appears that this is more a misunderstanding. You aren't disagreeing with transgendered persons taking steps to fix the issue by undergoing hormone therapy or SRS, you are talking about Tumblrfag special snowflakes.
I'm talking about those who:
a) undergo gender reassignment surgery b) otherwise embrace their delusion instead of trying to heal it
If you have GID, but are trying to overcome it, I have nothing but respect for you.
SRS, hormone therapy, and psychoanalysis are the only known treatments for GDD that have a notable success rate. I'd even liken GDD to autism in that the severity is a spectrum of values. One person who suffers from GDD may only encounter mild discomfort and choose to not act on it; another could become depressed or suicidal because of it. Therapy can only solve situations in which depression causes GDD, not the other way around. That's why receiving hormone therapy or SRS requires a certain period of analysis by a psychologist: to make sure that the person wanting treatment is the latter and not the former. Past that step, there are two options: hormone therapy (to become more close to the desired sex, aesthetically and hormonally) and SRS (changing the genitals to resemble that of the desired sex). They likely are enacted consecutively, depending on how the individual suffers from GDD. Are they perfect treatments? No. Do some still slip through and regret it? Most definitely. But until there's a more reliable way to fix the problem, then that's all there can be done.

If you think that trying to fuck up your body with senseless surgery is as damaging as smoking weed, there's not much left to argue about. You're too far gone. AWESOME, because that's not the fucking subject. It's transgenderism, not transexualism.
The title of the thread refers to traps, yo. That's slang for tranny. Tranny = changed your gender.
A trap is a crossdresser, not a transgendered person. The former can be symptomatic of the latter, but they aren't mutually exclusive.

What do you all think of intersex people?
Any gender identification outside male and female is laughable and shouldn't be taken seriously.
Intersex isn't a gender identification, Class.
Oh, I thought you were talking about something else. What you're talking about is just a birth defect, plain and simple. No need to have a whole social movement around it.
Transgenderism is also a birth defect (as far as we currently know). The "movement" is to attempt to remove misconceptions and de-stigmatize people who suffer from it. Like someone who is intersex, they are limited in options of fixing their problem. I'm quite certain that if there were an actual, reliable way to remove or alleviate the problem outside of SRS then most transgendered persons would opt for it. But there isn't outside of doing nothing, and doing nothing isn't a solution. It's ignoring the problem.
I know it is, that's what I've been talking to Verb about. And while destigmatizing people who suffer from these disorders is nice, it's not addressing the real root of the problem. Because of the whole social movement on behalf of TGs, and the fact that it's "bigotry" to see it as a disease, no real progress can be made on finding a medical solution. I know that there are currently other options, though, than fucking up your body in a vain and gross attempt to change what you can't.
I'd just like you to consider that Tumblr is an extremist view of the subject. And what other options are there? If you mean psychoanalysis, that's required to begin the hormone therapy in the first place. That way people who are just seeking a form of escapism don't commit rash and permanent changes to themselves.
Psychoanalysis, therapy, and hormone injections are all great ways to intelligently deal with the disorder, if you have it. People who go that route have my respect. Not those who foolishly indulge a serious delusion.

srsly though, you guys obsess over this topic way too much
You started the discussion here though, Nuka.
You guys exploded it. As usual. lol
If it's a usual occurrence, wouldn't that imply that you knew the ramifications of posting what you did?
Nuka confirmed for forum-terrorist, let's hunt the urban caves for him so we can save the children.
I'm a terrible person, I know.
I bet you're planning to detonate hormone bombs in major cities all over the continental US and Puerto Rico! You won't succeed, we'll stop you and your evil agenda!

I don't see the harm in discussing the subject so long as it remains civil.

To be fair, the distinction between gender and sex is a very recent and debated topic. If you were to look in a thesaurus, they'd be synonyms.

What do you all think of intersex people?
define intersex
A person who is born with a reproductive or sexual anatomy that doesn’t seem to fit the typical definitions of female or male. For example, a person might be born appearing to be female on the outside, but having mostly male-typical anatomy on the inside. Or a person may be born with genitals that seem to be in-between the usual male and female types—for example, a girl may be born with a noticeably large clitoris, or lacking a vaginal opening, or a boy may be born with a notably small penis, or with a scrotum that is divided so that it has formed more like labia. Or a person may be born with mosaic genetics, so that some of her cells have XX chromosomes and some of them have XY.

I make the distinction, because they're both two subjects a find myself talking about often. It's so that I can say "no, I refer to a as x and b as y" if someone gets confused.

i don't even wanna know "Transhumanism is an international cultural and intellectual movement with an eventual goal of fundamentally transforming the human condition by developing and making widely available technologies to greatly enhance human intellectual, physical, and psychological capacities." ummmmm
how, exactly
i don't even wanna know
One day we will all be robots.

"Your government supports a Transformers: Age of Extinction, Mark Wahlburg!" Did they really have to go out of the way to include the actor's name as well? Like seriously, what's the point?

I've usually seen "trap" refer to crossdressers. Transwomen are often erroneously referred to as traps, but that doesn't make them the same thing. Crossdressers are not the same thing as Trans*people, as many feel no desire to live as or be the other sex (as a person who is transgender does) and is merely a sexual fetish. i'm with you, but what is the function of the asterisk there in "trans*people"
because if it functions how i think it does, i think "transpeople" or "transfolk" works just fine
It distinguishes that I'm talking about someone who is transgender, not someone that supports transhumanism. Transhumanism will be the best. Just, the best.

It's used haphazardly. People use it to refer to either based on context.
To the detriment of easy and rational discussion as well.

Unless it can hold my entire library in FLAC format it's not worth that tag.
>Not carrying a 5tB external HDD in your fannypack to hold your top 10 albums Das, you have disappointed me. I bet you don't even wear pocket protectors.

This game looks like a prettier version of GRID.
It may look great but it may not play great.
Hey now, the first was a great game. It was every game after that which was awful.

I wouldn't buy it in the first place if it didn't have a case. Getting GBA games must be a real slut. And anything before that, really.
Given the fragile nature of them, I can get by with the game, manual, and a working case for them. DS cases work for GBA games, for example.

I was more referring to her case in particular, because she's a serious collector. With a particular fetish for boxes. She values the boxes with the same amount as the game itself--she won't even play the game if she doesn't have the box to go with it. Right?

It's not a bad game really, but the graphics look like a PS2 game and it has enough technical problems to out most people off.

Even? That's an added bonus, not a dealbreaker.
But she also likes to talk about emotions, hates CCR, is a post-modernist liberal, and will hound you for an exclusive and long lasting relationship. Also no knifeplay.
