The Flood / Re: Whats wrong with being a "dudebro"?
« on: January 21, 2015, 04:13:44 PM »
There's nothing wrong with being a dudebro, it's just one of many kinds of "gamer". It's just that dudebro games don't have much of an appeal outside that audience, so the games are often criticized for those elements by everyone else.

EA sports games are still shit tho.

Not being a better experience,  not a negligible difference. It's not witty if you don't make properly answer it.  ;D
Well, when you say "not better", that makes me think "worse," for some reason. Which would have meant that it's not negligible.

But clearly, it's not negligible to them, if they can even make the distinction. So my point still stands--I can't possibly imagine 24fps being worse than 60fps, let alone 30. I'd settle for 20, for crying out loud. I'm sure the game played just fine.
24fps isn't a problem with framerate, it's a problem with the refresh rate on a TV. If a TV refreshes at 60Hz, that means you're actively missing frames if it isn't a flat number divisible by 60 like 20, 30, or (duh) 60.

Sexual agnosticism (n) - the view that the truth values of certain sexual tendencies – especially claims such as whether or not dicks, boobs or dickboobs are the best – are unknown and perhaps unknowable.

Imagine that, a lower framerate not being a better experience.
I can't.

Looks like your generic run of the mill 3rd person shooter gameplay wise. Have it at below 30 FPS on top of that, it better have a good story.
Below? It's 30fps.
Didnt they say it would be like 25 or 15?
They wanted to make it 24fps, but it played awfully. Imagine that, a lower framerate not being a better experience.

Or we could start a schism, break off with the lesbians and transfolk, and be called the BLT movement, and adopt the BLT as our official food therefore ruining the sandwich for hardcore conservatives in the ultimate ruse against Christianity and small diners.
I can't believe you're being so fucking horribly intolerant. You really are a piece of shit, I used to like you too. I just don't get how you can stand against the fundamental principle of tolerance in our liberal societies?

I mean, what the fuck have small diners ever done to you?
They all serve shitty coffee.
Completely true. Don't forget that the eggs are nearly always overcooked.

You and I obviously have different views on the point of conversation. It's not about learning, it's about sharing your views. I've never had my beliefs swayed by an online argument, lol. If that's the whole reason you get involved in these, then you should just not respond to me in general.
I'll talk to anyone Class, I consider it a trait of my character.

If by "transphobic" you mean "find cross-dressing and post-op TGs repulsive", then yeah, I am. That has no bearing on this conversation, though.
It does, in the sense that it creates an impasse. Would you want to argue with a racist as to why racism is bad? I sure the fuck wouldn't. If you just came out and said that you were transphobic, that would make it a lot easier for some of us, anyway, to not waste our time with you. You understand? It's a matter of, "am I willing to spend my time arguing with this person".
Ad hominem.
No, he's pointing that there's a fundamental impasse in arguing with someone who feels like that of a subject. It's not an attack, it's saying that there is "no point in arguing with a racist" because a racist and a non-racist will never agree, so there's no point in having the discussion.
If all racism was was finding blacks nasty, and not actually hating them, could you honestly not argue with a racist about it? Like, I don't even have anything against TGs personally. Say one bad thing against them and this forum has a heart attack.
If the discussion was about if blacks were equal to whites, you could not have a good discussion of it. There's a prejudice in play, it doesn't matter what form it takes. Discussion is about learning, and if one side cannot teach the other something, then there's no point in doing it! If you are staunchly opposed, to the point of transphobia, then there's not a point in talking about it with you. That's not to call you a bad person or something, just that there is an impasse in discussing transgenderism.

I despise sweet tea. It's disgusting and I don't see how people drink it. I am not someone in which you'd want to talk about sweet tea/the south rising again with unless you wanted to argue in an endless stalemate until you gave up.

Your argument could have benefited without that addition, it really doesn't help put your stance in a positive or non-bigoted light of the subject.
It's important to note, as it does actually affect others.
As do homsexuals showing gestures of affection in public places. That's called homophobia. Are you admitting to being transphobic, or was that unintentional?
Two men kissing isn't inherently disgusting. Grown men pretending to be girls is, and also pretty creepy.
To you, that's the point being made. There is nothing wrong with two people of the same sex kissing, but there are people who find it to be creepy and disgusting. It's homophobia, just as you claiming to vomit in disgust at the sight of a transperson would be transphobic. Know what I'm saying?
I know what you're saying, but it's illogical. Post op transgenders objectively look more disgusting than a simple kiss. That's not a phobia, that's an observation.
That's more of a result of the Social Justification; just like not all cops are trigger happy murder lovers, not all transpersons look "disgusting". They're just seen more often because that's what's reported and shown more often and because the only people who are on the curb shouting, "I'M TRANSGENDER" are the special snowflakes. A majority simply transition and live their lives as if they were never their birth sex and are unrecognizable outside of extreme scrutiny.

I'm not outright calling you transphobic, by the way-- just pointing out that, unless you genuinely are, you are unintentionally painting yourself in that light.

The more it affects you, the worse it is. Transgenderism's eventual result (if followed through completely) is the surgical changing of your sex. That's pretty affecting.
Actually, it isn't, but you wouldn't know that.

Many trans people opt to not have the surgery.
There's a part in there you may have missed.
And my point was that not everyone needs surgery to have "completed" transitioning [whatever that may mean]

Plenty of people just do the HRT and call it a day, no surgery whatsoever.

There isn't a single course of action that prescribes what trans people must go through.
I don't think that was the implication. He can correct me here if I'm wrong-- but he most likely meant in the sense that it's the last possible surgery or action that a person can take to become closer to the opposite sex, not that it's necessarily what all transpersons do.

The ultimate goal would be to become the opposite sex. This is unarguably impossible at this time. Until such a time that someone can be altered post-birth on a genetic level, a transperson can only make themselves as close to that as possible. Outside of Tumblr and similar special snowflake hugboxes, you will only sparsely find people who legitimately believe that they are "actually" (in the sense you are arguing) men or women.
