Despite what everyone says, I liked Raiden in MGS2

and obviously he's great in Revengence.

A little too broody in 4 though. His combat was cool but I disliked his low toned "I have to fight.........." attitude. They nailed his personality in Revengence.
I didn't get the Raiden hate either. He's a perfect stand in for the player. For example in a codec chat with Snake in MGS2, Raiden asks why he keeps fighting, he points out that he wouldn't have come to the Big Shell if he wasn't under orders to be there. Kind of like the player, who can leave at any time he or she wants.

Compromise: one person gets Acid Ocelot, the other gets Base Ocelot.

I'll take Based Ocelot

if that's an option
but that ruins the joke

does it want my full name or just first name

full name: Acid Ocelot
first name: Acid Ocelot

oh
It's not exactly a complex algorithm; it probably just uses the first couple of letters from the input to choose two coinciding words.

You guys are being far too lenient. He even said it was malicious so punish him for it!
it was never against the rules
Was it wrong yes, it wasn't against any rule though so nothing can be done
I'd argue that it would qualify as harassment, which is most definitely against the rules.

Quote
harassment

(either harris-meant or huh-rass-meant) n. the act of systematic and/or continued unwanted and annoying actions of one party or a group, including threats and demands. The purposes may vary, including racial prejudice, personal malice, an attempt to force someone to quit a job or grant sexual favors, apply illegal pressure to collect a bill, or merely gain sadistic pleasure from making someone fearful or anxious. Such activities may be the basis for a lawsuit if due to discrimination based on race or sex, a violation on the statutory limitations on collection agencies, involve revenge by an ex-spouse, or be shown to be a form of blackmail ("I'll stop bothering you, if you'll go to bed with me"). The victim may file a petition for a "stay away" (restraining) order, intended to prevent contact by the offensive party. A systematic pattern of harassment by an employee against another worker may subject the employer to a lawsuit for failure to protect the worker.

harassment. (n.d.) Burtonโ€™s Legal Thesaurus, 4E. (2007). Retrieved August 29 2015 from http://legal-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/harassment

But that's up to the administration to decide whether it does or not. If they disagree, then that's how the cookie crumbles.

EDIT: Also, What Lemony Fresh said.

Kill yourself.
Generally not a nice thing to say to someone who's been going through a lot of hard times. Not to say that you should be expected to know of them per say, but saying that to someone who is considering suicide is generally not a very respectable thing to do.
You should kill yourself too.
What an original comeback.

8111
I meant a video game Lego Halo, like Star Wars and Indiana Jones got.
I'm saying that it won't happen because Lego can't get the rights to use Halo bricks since Megablocks owns them.

8112
Still waiting for Lego Halo.
Doesn't Megablocks have distribution rights?

8113
All right, it ain't reading the new copy, either.

Fucking... fuck.

Maybe it's just the fucking laser that's damaged. I'll look into it.
Xbox OG units have a history of laser-reader blockages. Just pop open the console and clean the lens.
i was wondering if the fact that it's modded would have anything to do with it

probably not, but i'm scared to fuck with it
If you have any sort of electronics repair shop in your area, I'd go in and ask if they would charge you (and if so, how much) to simply clean the laser's lens.

But that's only if you refuse to open it up. Just make sure you aren't carrying a charge when you open it up, or don't touch anything except for the disc-reader.

8114
Sad Lad, I'd stop responding. No response you get from Gats will change the situation in any way but for the worse.

8115
Off-Topic, but every poster on this page (at the time of this post being written) has a Big Boss avatar.

MGS V is going to destroy this forum.
stop
That implies a singular post is a continuous act, silly.

No more judo, and no more field strips.

So what is that...'horn' in his head? Is it shrapnel? Or an experiment gone wrong?
Shrapnel. But it somehow grows (it's MGS. How it does this isn't important).
It's supposed to cast his shadow to make it look like a demon.
Well.....he did some bad stuff.....but for a good reason, but I want to know how it grows....or he's just imagining it.
They can't surgically remove it because it would cause permanent drain bamage. I've just kind of assumed that they're just letting it dislodge on its own.
O_e

That...pains me to thought. I'm just curious as to how they explain it to the future MGS games...Kinda feeling hyped....
Don't be, only Metal Gear pachinko machines lie in the future.

And yes, it does cause psychological problems. Theory has it that some things in the trailers (burning Moby Dick flying through the sky, for example) might be the result of that.

I can see how the last part of my post could be a bad thing, though.

Is anyone else warming up to this mod/monitor for gaming idea, or is it just me?
A button that can collapse a user's post (complete with "Moderator action has been taken against this post. View at your own risk" message) would be the easiest way to combat this imo. This doesn't really oppose the idea of a forum-specific moderator, but with a combination of both ideas it would be more effective than what we have now.
Yeah, I don't know why I didn't think of that. I'm always too hung up on punishments, because I just resent these fuckers, but yeah, that's a... decent solution. The trouble is preventing it. If we have a particularly persistent case, like what we have tonight, how long can we rely on the mods to censor every single post (and in a timely manner)?...

There has to be a preventative measure at some point.
At a certain point, punitive action must be taken. Collapsing the post with just the click of a button is more about having a nearly immediately response to control a situation. The only instance it wouldn't work in is spam, in which case banning the person (already an option) would be more effective.

for new releases
I know, my response was centered around how hard it would to be to enforce spoiler rules given how subjective spoilers can be. That's why that one sentence was the only thing I had quoted. I was building upon that idea in a way that explains a relatively simple way of identifying whether something should be considered a spoiler or not.

I mean, if you've never heard of Fight Club and I spoiled the plot for you (assuming the notion that you are interested in it is already available, and that you haven't seen it), that'd still be grounds for a paddlin'. It'd be the same point being tackled as with new content: it's ruining a work in a way in a way that unnecessarily taints a blank view of the subject from an uninformed person's perspective.

I really do think this would be tough to moderate unless you take intentions into account.
Spoilers themselves are a subject to whether or not the topic can be considered freely available/known information or not.

For example, it's not a spoiler if I say something about the twist of a movie released in 1999 unless I specifically post it response to a specific example of someone who has made it clear that he or she hasn't seen it. Unless stated (heavily implied or outright), pieces of media past a certain distance from their release should not be subjected to scrutiny of spoilers.

On the other end of the spectrum: in a discussion based upon questions circling a piece of media of certain antiquity in which it is made clear that the poster is unaware of plot points, or in the discussion of a piece of media that is unreleased/has only been released for a short period of time, spoiler law should be enforced. The length of time noted should be subjective to some degree, as should it vary by case to case in slight measures. But looking at intention isn't the only way of enforcing rules against spoilers.

Not only is he posting spoilers for a game for what appears to be the sole purpose of pissing people off, it's for an unreleased game that no person could rightfully be expected to have access to. This isn't spoilers about The Sixth Sense or War of the Worlds, where a person can't be expected to be liable for spoiling things.

In general, this is astounding that a subforum that revolves around discussing video games doesn't have any rule on spoilers at all.

8129
calm dem titties lemin
i'm pulling your leg capitalising on this butthurt that probably is for absolutely nothing if gats is to be believed

That you have a chip on you shoulder about me has given me a chuckle though, didn't realise I got on your nerves that much.
He posted a screencap of the game (more importantly, the unreleased game. In no way could any person rightfully have encountered the content except by unlawful means or early release copies.) that involve major spoilers that are quite central to the story.

So yeah, it's for something. LC was getting shit for unintentionally breaking the unenforceable rules lain out within the confines of this thread; Gats intentionally posted spoilers (and not "Well I think x" spoilers, actual ones) just for the purpose of being a dick.

8130
shit whoopsie my hand slipped
Your hand accidentally slipped over the "post image" button/typed , then accidentally pasted the link to major spoilers.

It really isn't funny, Gats. Just an ass move.
dude this is a mgs discussion thread
i was discussing an image
This is the worst bait I've seen today. Try again.
