He's a perfect stand in for the player. For example in a codec chat with Snake in MGS2, Raiden asks why he keeps fighting, he points out that he wouldn't have come to the Big Shell if he wasn't under orders to be there. Kind of like the player, who can leave at any time he or she wants. 8105

Just make sure you aren't carrying a charge when you open it up, or don't touch anything except for the disc-reader. 8114

Theory has it that some things in the trailers (burning Moby Dick flying through the sky, for example) might be the result of that. 8124
Septagon / Re: Regarding Spoilers« on: August 29, 2015, 07:22:21 PM »At a certain point, punitive action must be taken. Collapsing the post with just the click of a button is more about having a nearly immediately response to control a situation. The only instance it wouldn't work in is spam, in which case banning the person (already an option) would be more effective.Yeah, I don't know why I didn't think of that. I'm always too hung up on punishments, because I just resent these fuckers, but yeah, that's a... decent solution. The trouble is preventing it. If we have a particularly persistent case, like what we have tonight, how long can we rely on the mods to censor every single post (and in a timely manner)?...I can see how the last part of my post could be a bad thing, though.A button that can collapse a user's post (complete with "Moderator action has been taken against this post. View at your own risk" message) would be the easiest way to combat this imo. This doesn't really oppose the idea of a forum-specific moderator, but with a combination of both ideas it would be more effective than what we have now. 8125

Septagon / Re: Regarding Spoilers« on: August 29, 2015, 07:08:06 PM »I know, my response was centered around how hard it would to be to enforce spoiler rules given how subjective spoilers can be. That's why that one sentence was the only thing I had quoted. I was building upon that idea in a way that explains a relatively simple way of identifying whether something should be considered a spoiler or not.for new releases I mean, if you've never heard of Fight Club and I spoiled the plot for you (assuming the notion that you are interested in it is already available, and that you haven't seen it), that'd still be grounds for a paddlin'. It'd be the same point being tackled as with new content: it's ruining a work in a way in a way that unnecessarily taints a blank view of the subject from an uninformed person's perspective. 8127
Septagon / Re: Regarding Spoilers« on: August 29, 2015, 06:59:33 PM »I really do think this would be tough to moderate unless you take intentions into account.Spoilers themselves are a subject to whether or not the topic can be considered freely available/known information or not. For example, it's not a spoiler if I say something about the twist of a movie released in 1999 unless I specifically post it response to a specific example of someone who has made it clear that he or she hasn't seen it. Unless stated (heavily implied or outright), pieces of media past a certain distance from their release should not be subjected to scrutiny of spoilers. On the other end of the spectrum: in a discussion based upon questions circling a piece of media of certain antiquity in which it is made clear that the poster is unaware of plot points, or in the discussion of a piece of media that is unreleased/has only been released for a short period of time, spoiler law should be enforced. The length of time noted should be subjective to some degree, as should it vary by case to case in slight measures. But looking at intention isn't the only way of enforcing rules against spoilers. 8128
Septagon / Re: Regarding Spoilers« on: August 29, 2015, 06:18:03 PM »
Not only is he posting spoilers for a game for what appears to be the sole purpose of pissing people off, it's for an unreleased game that no person could rightfully be expected to have access to. This isn't spoilers about The Sixth Sense or War of the Worlds, where a person can't be expected to be liable for spoiling things.
In general, this is astounding that a subforum that revolves around discussing video games doesn't have any rule on spoilers at all. 8129

In no way could any person rightfully have encountered the content except by unlawful means or early release copies.) that involve major spoilers that are quite central to the story. So yeah, it's for something. LC was getting shit for unintentionally breaking the unenforceable rules lain out within the confines of this thread; Gats intentionally posted spoilers (and not "Well I think x" spoilers, actual ones) just for the purpose of being a dick. 8130
