Gaming / Re: I've established the Kingdom of the Flies.

It's not the fact that it's open world, it's an empty open world. MGS3 had dozens of breeds of snakes, bugs, fish, birds, mice, and so on that could be interacted with consistently throughout the game and even used strategically. It also had scalable trees, which could be used to reach areas otherwise inaccessible or to hide from/take out guards on patrol.

And MGS3 was open-world in the same vein that dungeon games are open world. You can move freely between rooms in the game, but you are restricted in ways to go between rooms. If A connects to B, and B connects to C, (all in a line), then you have to go through B to get to C. In MGSV, your only buffer is the distance between your chosen insertion point and the mission area.

This doesn't mean that MGSV is bad, it just fell into the same problem that a lot of open world games have. In terms of story it doesn't really affect that much, the real story problem is how inconsistently you are given a glimpse into the narrative in general. This is especially prominent early on in Chapter 1, where you can go multiple missions of just "extract this guy, blow this up" without anything story-related showing up.

If it had gotten another two years of development (or suffered less problems during, if that's a theory) it may have not ended that way. So it's not really a problem of "open world", it's a problem of "empty open world" and sparse story telling.

But Eliab, you actually can fast-travel in MGSV via postal service.

But they included Ultravox, Billy Idol, Thomas Dolby, Kajagoogoo, Japan, Hall & Oats, Kim Wilde, Europe, a-ha, Dead or Alive, and The Cure.

The only songs I care for:

Rebel Yell
Man Eater
Too Shy
Dancing With Tears In My Eyes

All the other ones are fine but are either overrated as fuck (I'm looking at you, Final Countdown) or just plain bad.

Like, there should have been at least one David Bowie song. Diamond Dogs? The Man Who Sold The World? C'mon. And I don't even like Bowie.
But Bowie's version of TMWSTW is a mess of cocaine and vox clipping.

The music on the cassette tapes were also a let down.

No Nuclear or Elegia. No David Bowie. No Bon Jovi, no Duran Duran.

They didn't even include TBIYTC, Can't Say Goodbye to Yesterday, and Calling to the Night.
But they included Ultravox, Billy Idol, Thomas Dolby, Kajagoogoo, Japan, Hall & Oats, Kim Wilde, Europe, a-ha, Dead or Alive, and The Cure.

Also, the fact Mantis is a ginger means he has no soul.

It all makes sense.

Spoiler
Personally, I'd have preferred it if he was more normal and slowly got fucked up over time. Not always a gas mask wielding fuck. Naomi even says as much in the original, in that he dove too deep in the mind of a serial killer.
Spoiler
It's not incompatible. Young Mantis had no personality, he fed off of the egos of those around him. As he grew older, his personality was molded by those of the the minds he read. When he went into FBI work, the serial killer drove him insane. Or completely insane, I should say.
I think the greatest question is how the hell was he even sane enough to WORK for the FBI? You'd think the normies at the Bureau would be freaked out to see a floating ginger in a gas mask going

"Yesssssssssssssss. You like the Legend of ZELDA, DON'T CHUUU????"
I mean, I'd assume Mantis managed to read a lot of normal minds over his life. He outright says in MGS1 that he likes Snake because he doesn't just think about fucking like everyone else. He probably mellowed out a lot between MGSV and his pre-FBI days.

Let's talk about how much of a cuck Eli is.

And how he never grew out of that.
I would have liked it if it hadn't turned out that Eli was always a cunt-muffin.

I do have a problem with Quiet's attire though - not necessarily that she's barely clothed, but because supposed to be a trained soldier yet she's wearing nylons and a bikini top.

I mean if it were Grand Theft Auto or something it'd be understandable, but nobody is going to be wearing that in the middle of a warzone.
WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO?

I'd love a boss battle against Quiet in a Metal Gear remake.

Doesn't the slut die though?
Spoiler
Listed as MIA, but implied to have died. I wish Konami would at least finish out the remaining gap between 1984 and 1995 with a comic or something if they won't finish the game.

So like, is there a given reason why Metal Gears after Sahelanthropus get worse?
Spoiler
1) DD keeps it classified.

2) It was expensive as hell and incredibly inefficient.

3) REX only had a weakness because of "muh character" from Otacon. It was a much more solid design than Sally. The MP RAYs were weaker because of their mass-production, and they were never intended to be threats individually. The prototype REX was much more powerful.

Apparently five chapters were originally planned. Chapters four and five were cut out during storyboarding, and chapter three ("Peace") was cut during development. The titlecard and a few different materials for it can be found on the disc. Chapter two was just straight up slashed to ribbons.

I really hope the suits aren't paid DLC, I'm a little upset about the lack of variation between uniforms in vanilla single-player.

I can see either of those two nabbing it.

But I have this horrible, horrible feeling that it might end up being Trump.
I would honestly be devastated if the vote came down to Hilary or Trump.

Someone said Kasich had no charisma tonight--I don't agree, I found his elocution and general demeanor to be pretty likable. He came off down-to-earth a lot of the time. He didn't really have anything particularly witty to say, sure, but I mean...
I agree to that, he came off as someone who is speaking his mind instead of rehearsed lines.

But that's also kind of a problem. He spent most of his speaking time stuttering and flopping his way through. He made great points, but his delivery was subpar.

I mean, the entire purpose of these debates is so that voters can have a better understanding of the nominees' platforms. We can't do that if they're constantly interrupting eachother.
