So why do people like this?
from what i can tell, "LOL SO RANDUMB xDDDDDD"
Gags are like 3% of the plot at most fam. Except for Part III, which sits a little closer to 15%.
because all this talk just makes it seem like it's a dumb absurd comedy show or something

not a great way to sell it
I didn't realize we were selling the show.

single-gag characters are pretty shit, though, tbh
But Tequila Joseph is an important character in the series.

JoJo's art style really becomes good towards the end of part 4, and REALLY hit its stride during Steel Ball run.
Araki's starting to sameface nowadays, and everyone's built like a lanklet fuccboi.

Looking pretty manly to me, man.

I don't see how you can mistake this lady as a man. She even brought tequila to the nice Nazis guarding Santana.

is this an all-guy series or what

All the girls look like guys, so it's rather hard to tell.
>implying Jolyne, Susie Q, Lisa Lisa, or literally anyone that isn't a man looks like a man

No, the protagonist of Part VI is Jolyne Cujoh/Joestar. There's Lisa Lisa in Part II as well, and women pop on throughout it. Men are definitely a large majority, though.

It would have been hilarious to read JoJo when Part V was being written because King Crimson. Sooooo much confusion.

It's been running since the 1980s and was quite original for its time.
why is it blowing up in the west now, then

or have i just been living under a cozy comfortable rock that i wish i could hide back under
It's always had a following in the West, but the TV series made it mainstream.

so what is the show even about and what is the appeal of it
Read the manga. It's better.
no thank you

it just looks... annoying

and i hate how manga is--you can barely tell what's going on on the pages

Oh yeah that definetely happens quite a bit, but they are redoing the series in color and it's definetely easier to tell what's happening.
The reprints aren't in color, they're just translated and better localized copies with the original art.

Wat, Stone Ocean has been colored in it's entirety
Just saying, Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency are using the original art in black and white.

I bought all of Phantom Blood. Can't wait for the hardback reprint of Battle Tendency.

I just want to own physical copies of Diamond is Unbreakable, Vento and Steel Ball Run.

I need muh Killer Queen ;_;
At the rate they're being put out, that'd be somewhere around next September for Part IV, February 2017 for Part V, and December 2017 for Part VII.

That depends on the part; each one is a separate storyline. And starting after Part VI, a different continuity.

It's been running since the 1980s and was quite original for its time. A lot of Eastern media, including video games, make references to JoJo. It's kind of a cultural staple, which of course means it's popular. Especially considering how graphic if can be, it has a Western appeal too.
