This is literally oversimplifying something that has far more depth to it than one quote could give it.
But a bunch of people would think it rings true because they think they're pseudo-philosophers. It only preaches to the ignorant.
As Meta said earlier, it's good if you just look at is as a trend of views and not project implications on it.
Youth have always leaned more liberally then there predecessors, and always have grown to have more conservative values as they grow older.
I think it's quite obviously less of an "observation" than a command.
Young Republicans are more liberal than older Republicans. Older Democrats are more conservative than Young Democrats.
It's incredibly obvious what PSU thinks, and what his intent is behind the post. But the statement itself isn't necessarily wrong.
That may be a trend but I can't see how the statement actually implies any of that.
Liberalism has the connotation of empathy, Conservatism has the connotation of experience. Given that it's true that young people trend towards "charitable" goals and older people trend toward "personal" values, it's not really wrong. But when you imply that one is necessarily more "right" than the other is when it starts to break down. Which is why, just taken at face value, it's not wrong.

I still don't see why they never thought of ads. Yes, some people use adblocker, but not everybody. And some ad money is better than no ad money.

It's better than the Rebuild Saga, but I don't think that's really saying anything.

There's just an ingrained taboo surrounding incest in western cultures. While I find it to be extremely gross, there's nothing wrong with it so long as it doesn't beget children.

It's actually a sign of intelligence and curiosity to experiment with drugs.
Curiosity I'd agree, but intelligence is a bit of a stretch.

I love my parents, but I wouldn't say I'd go above and beyond for them. That being said I also realize that my relationship with my parents is different from others, so I can see why people do obsess over their parents. They're responsible for how you are as a person to a certain degree, and also (generally) the primary bearers of affection for the average person.

I might agree if "conservative" wasn't synonymous with "raging fucktard" these days.
Research does show that an increase in age coincides with a higher degree of conservative thought. Mostly in the economic sector, but socially as well.
At the same time, millennials and those born starting after the mid 1980's are far more liberal than the prior generation, which could impact views later in life.
It shows a decreased conservative trend in general, meaning that older millennials (anyone age 10-35) still will show a trend towards conservative values. It just won't be as heavy as the previous generation.

Thank you, Shia LaBeouf.

I'd just buy a gun
She could just set the gun on fire, or electrocute it. I wonder how bullets still in the magazine would react to the primer being ignited.
Fire travels slowly, and she has to do that whole stance to shoot lightning. If I had an assault rifle I'm sure I could take her down
Not that I would, though. I'd just surrender as soon as the battle begun, lol.
That implies you're in an open field with no cover, and she can also use fire defensively. Whenever you had to change magazines, you'd be vulnerable.

If that was the case, then Verb is a bigamist.

Call me irrational, but when people use words like "never", and has a good track record of being honest, I can't help but take that literally. Don't you think that might be a reason why I avoid using the word "never"? Maybe I just have the mind of a 15th century sailor, but saying "never" sounds like tempting fate to me. I'm glad I don't have that problem. It's not that I can see the future--it's that I'm determined. And as has been the shown in every case since the dawn of time, very few people have your sense of determination. Everyone else has to make compromises and use tricks to reinforce theirs.

I distinctly remember you telling me that you've smoked a cigarette before. Nicotine. Just to "try" it.
You're telling me that's not true? If it is, I'm terribly, terribly sorry for the misunderstanding.
Marijuana smoke still counts as smoke, though. Unless you've also never smoked marijuana, which, again, I distinctly remember you telling me that you've had at least one joint in your life. A friend's vape that was still had nicotine-juice in it after I smoked a joint. And don't even try to backtrack by saying "you smoked pot though", that wasn't my point of contention. It was directly concerning "all kinds of shit", as if I just pop pills and smoke everything under the rainbow. It's just not how I'd phrase it. If I wanted to make it clear that I'd never use drugs, I would say it like this: I will never use drugs.
I wouldn't say "I don't plan on it," because that implies the possibility. You see the difference.
I say "I don't plan on it," because I think that abstinence isn't full-proof, and because I'm not the kind of person who likes to predict the future. That's because I'm wrong whenever I do so, and I'd hate to be wrong about saying, "I'll never smoke meth."

i'm not your dad, it's not my job to hound you over this shit--but i will anyway, because i think that's what a friend does
Keep in mind that my very first post in this discussion was saying that Ecstasy turns into a retard. I don't think I've ever managed to say anything positive about the drug this entire conversation, and yet you insist that I would even consider doing it. Fuck that noise, Verb; that's what is pissing me off right now. I haven't even done anything and you're berating me. I don't know if you're just at a high tension right now between the events of last night and early this morning, but you need to calm the fuck down and realize that not everybody is snorting cocaine behind your back.
