People always try to make arguments purely based on fact and removing all emotion whatsoever from the equation, with arguments like "WELL THEY STILL HAVE MALE CHROMOSOMES SO I CAN'T BE EXPECTED TO JUST LIE" and shit like that, as if emotions play no part on either side of any argument.
Of course emotion is involved, but it can't the driving force in argument. If your position is entirely emotional vs logical, then you're not going to go anywhere with it. There is quite a bit of logical support for transgenderism, so I see no reason why you should need to rely on the emotional aspect. And the only time biological sex should matter (in this situation, at the least) is when it enters into medical territory. When you go to the doctor, knowing the biology side is important regardless of transitioning status. It can make the difference between the right diagnosis and the wrong diagnosis. Outside of that whether you have XX or XY chromosomes is irrelevant, especially if we're talking about social interaction.

Depression and many of the effects of gender dysphoria deal with emotion, and that opinion is, thus, answering the question based on a certain emotional standpoint.
Eh. Using the diagnosis criteria for Major Depression as an argument isn't emotionally based. It logically follows that, being that hormone therapy and surgery for Gender Dysphoria alleviate or eliminate the accompanying MDD, such treatments are the most effective thus far medically known.

I never mentioned winning anywhere in that. You can still be right and wrong in an argument without arguing for the sole purpose of "winning".
I was kind of agreeing, but I don't think there's anything fruitless about a discussion with no "right" answer. Philosophy builds rhetoric and helps define and shape how you view life. Also, ego shouldn't factor into this in the first place; the goal should always be to teach and learn. I realize that it often does factor in despite that, but it's not essential to argument.

Yeah that's what's real shit about all this STEM propaganda being pumped out. It tricks kids like me into thinking its the only viable option for a career and when you begin to trick thousands of kids into that you begin to get a terribly oversaturated job market. I understand why they did it in the first place because the job market was legitimately starved of engineers and computer scientists.
Still are in some areas. Controls Engineers are in demand more now than ever, as are Electrical Engineers.

I thought you decided on law IIRC from that one thread in serious. Unless you're doing your bachelor's in poli sci and then law school?
The Law Adviser on campus suggested I do Polsci instead, just in case I wanted to switch again later on. More options than a pre-law degree.
Yeah actually pre law students are some of the lowest scorers on the LSAT. I've heard the degree programs do a terrible job of preparing you for law school. I think you made the right decision.
God I hope so. I can't deal with any more student loans.
