Wasn't the idea from the Enclave in FO3
Spoiler really just EDEN though? If I remember it right, Col Autumn had other ideas, and for everywhere outside of the HQ he was essentially the leader of the Enclave. 6551

Serious / Re: Why should transgenderism be something we "accept"?« on: October 26, 2015, 06:57:24 PM »I'm still not sure what we're supposed to base our arguments on then if the premises are not allowed to relate in ANY way to happiness.Research showing that the current treatments for Gender Incongruence result in the best alleviation or elimination of side effects arising from it, including MDD and BDD. Depression doesn't preclude happiness; it involves a chemical or logical imbalance in which empty or negative feelings outweigh the positive. 6555
Serious / Re: Why should transgenderism be something we "accept"?« on: October 26, 2015, 06:39:20 PM »
Also, your logic being silly doesn't prove that logic isn't everything; it means that your argument isn't logical. If your conclusion doesn't logically follow from the premise, it's invalid. I think this is more a confusion of rhetoric and logic; if something is logical, it is an absolute truth.

Serious / Re: Why should transgenderism be something we "accept"?« on: October 26, 2015, 06:35:33 PM »You guys are proving that my logic on this is stupid, which is just the point that I'm trying to proveOf course emotion is involved, but it can't the driving force in argument. If your position is entirely emotional vs logical, then you're not going to go anywhere with it. There is quite a bit of logical support for transgenderism, so I see no reason why you should need to rely on the emotional aspect. And the only time biological sex should matter (in this situation, at the least) is when it enters into medical territory. When you go to the doctor, knowing the biology side is important regardless of transitioning status. It can make the difference between the right diagnosis and the wrong diagnosis. Outside of that whether you have XX or XY chromosomes is irrelevant, especially if we're talking about social interaction. 6557
Serious / Re: Why should transgenderism be something we "accept"?« on: October 26, 2015, 06:22:11 PM »Eh. Using the diagnosis criteria for Major Depression as an argument isn't emotionally based. It logically follows that, being that hormone therapy and surgery for Gender Dysphoria alleviate or eliminate the accompanying MDD, such treatments are the most effective thus far medically known."Nobody's getting hurt and gender dysphoric people are less likely to off themselves."Depression and many of the effects of gender dysphoria deal with emotion, and that opinion is, thus, answering the question based on a certain emotional standpoint. 6558
Serious / Re: SQM: Is it worth arguing with random people on the Internet?« on: October 26, 2015, 05:33:50 PM »I was kind of agreeing, but I don't think there's anything fruitless about a discussion with no "right" answer. Philosophy builds rhetoric and helps define and shape how you view life. Also, ego shouldn't factor into this in the first place; the goal should always be to teach and learn. I realize that it often does factor in despite that, but it's not essential to argument.Either you're right (Great! You've learned nothing.), you're wrong (you learn something but usually at the cost of your ego, not exactly something that can just slip by with most people), or it's one of those controversial arguments where there is no "true" right answer which results in an endless and fruitless argument. If you're arguing to "win", you're doing it for the wrong reasons. 6559

Controls Engineers are in demand more now than ever, as are Electrical Engineers.Yeah that's what's real shit about all this STEM propaganda being pumped out. It tricks kids like me into thinking its the only viable option for a career and when you begin to trick thousands of kids into that you begin to get a terribly oversaturated job market. I understand why they did it in the first place because the job market was legitimately starved of engineers and computer scientists.>tfw BLS gives poli sci a better projected growth than Comp SciIt's because STEM is being over-saturated. It's like the 2000s Education field all over again. 6565

After that, life-satisfaction plateaus. A six-figure salary is unnecessary to enjoy your life fully.but that extra 160k lets you do so much fun stuff outside of workyoure right there is more to life, but not having to worry about money makes life that much better. why make $40k when you can make $140k?and then do what exactly? buy a big house? an expensive car? how exciting. i dunno if you're young but there really is more to lifeevryone should give a shit about making a lot of money. you should be trying to make as much money as you can.]but its true. liberal arts majors arent the ones raking in the cash.that only matters if you're a dickhead who gives a shit about making a lot of money 6566
