I've long thought of volunteering in Syria like Orwell did in Spain.
His Burma days are more interesting to read about tbh.

Tragedy so often seems to strike those who don't deserve it.
well it wouldnt be tragic if it happened to those who did deserve it.
Circumstance itself is a tragedy, as well.

Serious / Re: College Girl Solves The Student Loan Crisis
« on: November 13, 2015, 04:21:28 PM »
Something Meta kept citing was how students cannot file for bankruptcy, and that's supposed to be the root of the problem.

who the FUCK wants to file for bankruptcy
ever
Not really the "root", but something that's seriously fucked up in the first place. Filing for bankruptcy is literally saying that you can't afford your bills; the fact that they will assist in paying your car, house, and whatever else but NOT student debt is crazy. Especially with how much debt the average person graduates with.

Follow the British model, limit how much universities can charge so the prices aren't extortionate and make it easier to pay it back.
Seriously. $16,000 a year is outrageous, and that doesn't even include the price of mandatory freshman dorming that some schools have or the cost of books and materials.

I'll just add this to my list of reasons to only allow people to have one child.
Successive children are less likely to get the diabetus though
That's like buying two of the same record because one was cheaper, instead of just buying the cheaper one.

something my dad does all the time
But were they different editions

It's important

Serious / Re: The electoral college. Why?
« on: November 13, 2015, 03:08:04 PM »
Popular Democracy is 2 wolves and a sheep voting on what's for dinner
Pretty much the entire reason that the Connecticut Compromise was a thing; larger states get more say in half of Congress, smaller states are equal in the other. Larger states get more votes in the Electoral College, but at least allows that a battleground state doesn't necessarily have to have the highest population density.

Not saying it's a bad thing; I'd rather have a smaller map with more to do than a larger one with nothing in it.

Skyrim takes about 2 hours and 10 minutes to travel from corner to corner; Fallout 4 takes about 41 minutes.

It's hardly a fair comparison when considering that fallout is pretty flat and skyrim has a fuck ton of mountains.

Unless these were done by no clipping
A straight walk.
YouTube

You can also see in the video that the majority of the time, he's walking on semi-level ground and every time that he encounters a mountainous area, he just drops off the side instead of walking to find an easy way down. At worst, climbing mountains would add a half hour to the time; still quite a bit longer than FO4.
