You misunderstand! What defines the patrician/plebian divide on Star Wars is wheter one chooses Empire Strikes Back (the patrician's choice) over A new Hope. It is a very thin line granted, yet it is an effective litmus test to weed out the plebians. ESB isn't bad by any means, but people overrate it to Hell and back. The hype behind it is entirely built on the continued employement of cutting edge special effects technology (via Lucas' pet project, ILM), an overrated snow battle that you don't even get to see most of outside of Luke's perspective, the losing hero, the Vader reveal, and starting the franchise trend in film. Half of the pros toward its acclaim are superficial.

I counter thee as plebian in turn. Feel very bad about yourself.
have you actually seen any kurosawa films
The Hidden Fortress, of which Star Wars was specifically a homage to with the C3P0/R2D2 pairing and the form of saber combat used in the OT.

Silver Lining's Playbook Star Wars Prisoners Goodfellas Blade Runner
Which Star Wars? Choose carefully, this answer will decide your fate.
1977, before the trilogy turned into a saga.
So a New Hope?

Why, not what. That's my concern.
I still don't understand. Is it not perfectly reasonable why the game is being censored here?
Is it not perfectly reasonable why someone would protest this, and want it to be removed or changed?
Absolutely nobody is forcing the developer to change anything. If they change it because they feel pressured, then that's on them. Not us. You simply can't blame people like me for protesting the game--and you can't blame them for making the correct response by censoring the game.
If they felt pressured, oh well--they did the right thing for the wrong reasons.
At the end of the day, they improved a game.
Still, something tells me that you'd be against the change even if it was confirmed that it wasn't due to pressure.
It's not an issue of it being removed, or even the response that made them do it. It's the reasoning itself behind the removal. The difference is between accepting that it was necessary to alter/remove, and altering/removing something-- not because the artist agree with the demands-- but because the artist was forced to do so against their wishes. I think this situation, FE:Fates, is a bit silly. I don't consider it any different from the Pokรฉmon mini-game in XY/ORAS. My concern is whether IS just considered it a necessary change in North America, or that they were afraid of the result if it was still included.

Exaggeration is just the easiest way to convey metaphor. I was just elaborating on what I meant by "demographics".
Allow me to alter my message: why something is changed is more important than what. There's nothing wrong with sharing a sentiment, I wasn't quite saying that it shouldn't happen. The issue is whether the artist changed their idea because someone else thought it was wrong, or because the artist thought it was wrong. The exchange of information creates new perspectives; if IS thought, "gee, maybe that just isn't a good mechanic." when localizing the game, that's entirely fine. Even if someone had to tell them that first.
What isn't okay is changing because the artist was pressured into it. That's how you get 90's localizations, where "Tatsuri" becomes "Tyler", and is suddenly a different ethnicity. Feeling you should change your work out of fear that it won't be accepted is not okay. Fear causes misunderstandings, and unnecessary actions.
It's one thing to change the outfit of a thirteen year-old because you understand cultural differences, and another to completely remove a customization option because you're afraid that someone might misunderstand your intent. (Xenoblade Chronicles X)
But the only real way to "pressure" a developer into changing something is by threatening to boycott their game. Refuse to purchase the game. That's the only way. I mean, what else is there? If you honestly believe that pressuring developers to change is bad, it follows that the only method to pressure the developer is also bad. Right?
I mean, the only other way to express your disapproval is to write a rant on your blog, or bitch on your Twitter, or something. Write a letter of disapproval.
And they're not gonna give a fuck--why would they? You have to boycott, if you don't support their product.
Why, not what. That's my concern.

I'm not an elderly golf player, though. Not even... Not even close.
I just don't see what the problem is when it comes to protesting a game and demanding it to be changed. At all. That, in itself, is part of your guaranteed 1st amendment rights. All I'm saying is, "I don't like this. If you don't change this, I will not buy this game, and I will speak out against your game, and I will tell others to avoid your game, you bunch of disgusting cunts."
I'm not holding a gun to their head--I'm just saying, if they keep pulling this shit, I will do whatever I can to boycott them. Until they change.
They don't HAVE to change--but I will refuse to support them unless they do. Because I don't support their art product.
Why is that wrong?

It's already warned by the rating. "Warning: This game has unjustifiably stupid shit in it."
Okay, but that doesn't make it any less unjustified, or something that should be forcefully taken out.
Being an original work, it is the artist's job to convey an idea through his medium. If that includes a scene with nudity, that's his business. Sure, except he's selling the product to an audience of people. If he were an independent artist who wasn't a part of a LARGER business, then sure, "it's his business" would be a sensible argument. But no, it's not just his business. It's his business's business--and it's in a business's best interest to appease as many people as people.
You're not going to do that if you have abhorrently disgusting shit in your work.
Therefore, if a protest leads the business to change the product, that's absolutely 100% okay.
The difference here is that you're looking at it as a product-- I'm looking at it as art. Will Fire Emblem Fates, for example, probably be good art? Probably not. But that's the freedom you have to make an idea reality; you have the freedom to make bad art alongside the good. Even from a business perspective, if you advertise Magic Mike, being that they are strippers, are you going to really give a shit if the afterschool children's club doesn't watch your movie? No, that's not your demographic. Both in art and business, you have a demographic to target: quite obviously, The Enemy isn't for the blockbuster audience, it's an art-house style film: it targets the niche audience that looks for something attempting at "high-art". Deadpool isn't for eight year-olds, so Fox doesn't give a damn if eight year-olds don't watch it. The business makes money by selling to their demographic. Why does it matter what elderly golf players say or think about a video game for 18 year olds?

Someone throwing a protest over the fact that an R rated movie had nudity in it, and buckling? No.
Why not?
It's already warned by the rating. Being an original work, it is the artist's job to convey an idea through his medium. If that includes a scene with nudity, that's his business. Importantly, however, that does not mean it will be a good movie; but that's irrelevant to the point I'm making. If the artist decides that the nudity is superfluous and removes it, that's perfectly reasonable. The point is that the artist has to express an idea in the way he or she thinks best conveys it. External censorship limits those options unnecessarily.

If censorship occurs, it shouldn't be due to external influence. It should be because the artist itself believes that it would make it better.
Revising a script, and remove a tit or two from final production? Perfectly fine. Someone throwing a protest over the fact that an R rated movie had nudity in it, and buckling? No.

I'm pretty much going through a process of shedding off that persona I've had for years and becoming an actual person with feelings and emotions beyond just "happy"
Are you going to have an edgy phase?
yeah
i gotta be a teenager all over again
Oh, so do we have to redecorate the house? Because black can either look edgy or modern.

Sweet, I didn't plan on touching the season pass until at least half of the packs were released anyway, but more free content and balance fixes might convince me to hop on the game again.

Generally, it's easier to talk about things when you aren't face to face with someone. Or you don't have anyone to talk to irl, so you try to have a heart-to-heart over the internet. Or you're an attention whore, want validation, etc. There are more than a few reasons why people talk about themselves.
