Well, it's not like you have to throw away your physical copy. Collecting and playing are two different worlds, so you could have a physical copy for your collection, and a digital copy for playing.

No point in buying two exact copies of something unless there's a reasonable difference. Like, if I have RBY already, then why would I pay $15 for something I already have? And if I chose digital over physical, then it doesn't feel real. Like, I prefer to play GBA games on the GBA versus a DS Lite; only difference is brightness quality and how the buttons feel, but it's still there. I'm just picky tbh

Not really; buy the tool to open the case (a few dollars) and a watch battery. Plus a few spares, which comes out to be more expensive than just getting it digitally and never having to worry about it again.
You also need a soldering iron if you want to do the job well. It's just way too much of a hassle.
And you're playing the worst game in the series anyway.

Not really; buy the tool to open the case (a few dollars) and a watch battery. The only issue is not breaking the thing when you do that, which amounts to not removing the metal arms that hold it down.
