>People honestly think RoTJ was weaker than ANH
My biggest complaint about RotJ is that it has too much downtime. It doesn't have to be constant action, but I'm not the first to say that George Lucas has issues writing dialogue. It's not noticeable when it's succinct, but when you let him have five minutes of uninterrupted talking between two characters it just comes off as... awkward. ANH doesn't have that problem. Luke was a bit whiney, yeah, but he's a 19 year old who has hey-fever and struggles with suddenly thrown into life-or-death conflict. His dialogue reflected that. In RotJ, he has this weird mix between contemporary speech and shakespeare. I don't complain about it for the prequels, because it's trying to convey that "civilized age" idea from ANH, but it doesn't work for Luke in RotJ.

I've got more than that, but ANH is a stronger film than RotJ.

>People honestly think Empire wasn't the strongest
It's one of the most fun to watch, yeah, but the strongest? Nah. The movie has no foundation and no roof; it is completely reliant on the fact that it's a second movie in a guaranteed trilogy. ANH was intended to be a standalone and RotJ provides a story that manages to tie up ESB's lack of ending and provide a story that's self contained. It's fun, but critically it's one of the worst as a film.

I agree with the lightsaber duel though, the was the best duel in the entire series. Beats the whole new age twirling bullshit in the prequels and TFA was literally just two idiots whacking each other's sabers together awkwardly.
While I wasn't a fan of the type of combat in the prequels (except for the Maul fight), TFA did its fight the right way. Rey is a newbie who has no training, Kylo Ren was wounded, blinded with rage, and also nowhere near the power of Anakin in his duel against Obi-wan (to make a comparison). Its functionally the same as RotJ in how it works well because of its nuance: Luke played keep away until he slipped into the dark side for a moment, which ended the fight seconds later in a flurried rage which delimbed his father and nearly ended up killing him.

Honestly, I think the RotS fight is overrated. It's drawn out, bogged down by gimmicks  (fighting on small robot lava carriers while the base is falling apart), and the music (while memorable) was just outright distracting. It's a powerful moment that the entire movie led up to; let it stand on its own, don't feed in a bunch of artificial tension.

When I downloaded Let It Die, that's how long it took (the first part, not the 16gB second-half) and it only happens on PS4. I'm not saying that it's that long for everyone, which would be silly. Different people have different connection speeds. But for a noticeably higher time using the same connection as other devices, it's a problem.
A personal one--not something we should be blaming PSN for, is my point.
If Device A completes in 30 minutes, Device B completes in 35 minutes, Device C1  completes in 2 hours, and Device C2 completes in 2 hours-- all else being equal-- what does that say? It's not an issue with the internet service, as it's consistent across all devices and Device C clearly has a different result than the other two. It's not a hardware issue with that particular unit, as both units of Device C have the same result.

It's not length of time that is the issue, it's length of time comparatively to other devices.

I know the feeling. Took about nine hours to download an 8gB game on PS4 when it would take about two hours to download the same thing on PC or 360.

It's still an improvement over the PS3, although that's not saying much.
This sounded so far-fetched when I first read it, that I had to wait for a big update to verify it. I just downlaoded a 7.6 gigabyte update for SFV.

Literally took ~30 minutes. Is that unreasonable? Because either the "nine hours" was a crazy exaggeration and you guys just have less patience than Dr. Tuchiskidz, or you're legitimately having to wait that long, and it's just a personal problem, not PSN's problem. I think, personally, I can handle waiting a little over the length of my average shower to play a video game.

They might as well recanonise the KOTOR games at this point considering they keep referencing things from them.

Also because they're the best pieces of SW media.

You know they'll just give them the Battlefront treatment if/ when they reboot the series, including trying to make everyone forget about the old ones.
they'll probably make them third person shooters and give them tacked on multiplayer
Plot twist: the unannounced third-person action game from Respawn is the KOTOR reboot.

I'll decide where RO is when I rewatching it. At the moment, it's one of the better ones. Biggest complaint is that I can't remember the name of anyone in the squad except Jyn and K2, and that most people didn't get any development.
did phantom move up
RotS moved down.
i think your taste is
Opposite as RO, which was three hours long but felt like an hour and a half. RotS felt like it was six hours long. Every single scene was way too drawn out and it was dreadful.

5 and 1 are just my buffer movies, being the best of the "okay" and "dislike" tiers respectively.

real talk, how do you even write an "a" like that

like, define the strokes
Kind of like a droopy d.
you're making it too easy for challenger
I noticed it, yeah, but it's honestly the simplest way of describing the process. The only way it would be hard is that you're too used to doing it the other way and would have to consciously write that way.

Kind of like a droopy d. The top curve goes over from left to right, then you double back for the circular bit.

Don't even need to lift the pen to do it tbh

The issue here is with understanding "weebs" as people. In reality, weebism is a disease that spreads through prolonged proximity. The only treatment is shock therapy and the Duck Tales boxset. Unfortunately, most commit sudoku before the process is finished. So sad.

Wasn't the major defense of Ff-13 that it gets good once you're like 20+ hours in?
The issue with the defense isn't that it takes so ling, it's that it's completely false. FFXIII never gets better. It's always shit.

I've hated PSN for years. I can't fathom how some people can unironically believe that PSN is somehow equal to or greater than XBL, because it's very clearly not.
PSN was free on PS3, making it better by default.
It was slow and the security sucked. PSN was always held together by duct tape.

I mean, I could buy a cheap car with tape for a window and two flat tires, but that doesn't make it a better deal.
Security is a non-issue if you're smart and never have money in your account and always pay for purchases upfront.

It wasn't that slow, and even if it's super slow for you, it's still free.

You don't have to like it, but it shouldn't be that difficult to understand why some people would have preferred it for a time. PSN isn't free anymore on PS4, obviously, and that's a big fucking problem for me--but it was indisputably the better option for people like me who CANNOT STAND annual fees.
You don't need to pay for LIVE to download games, only if you want to play with others. So the faster download is just faster and its free.
to be fair, that infrastructure is supported by the subscription fee and always has been. They haven't had to really do much in the way of improving on the foundation beyond updates; Sony, on the other hand, had to use a lot of duct tape to put the service together on PS4.

And (((technically))) PSN is still free, you just are required to have PS+ for most* online play. You can still download games and watch Netflix without paying the sub, just like XBL Silver.

Depends on how much I'm enjoying it. There are some games that I only decide are shit after like eight hours, then others I can't play for more than thirty minutes.

NieR is the defining example of "it gets better" being true.

I'm not much of a fan of beer, but out of them Guinness ranks toward the bottom. Nasty-ass pisswasser, no better than Coors.

Not at all friendo. Usually I can tolerate dark beers, but I had about half a tallboy before I was fed up with it.

This is coming from a person who drank warm craft beer out of a friend's backpack after a four hour session of Catan. I'll sip on a few bottles of Yuengling over the course of a night, but Guinness can go fuck itself.

Piss water is just an odd way to describe it. Like it or not it's definitely not an American light beer.
I'm not calling it a light beer, I'm just saying that it's no better than one.

The Flood / Re: Hate vs Apathy
« on: December 11, 2016, 11:32:18 PM »
Hate is a hungry emotion. If you're not diligent in focusing it outward, it will consume you. You could argue that greed is good to some extent as well, but does that mean it's worth the risk?

People should strive to add something good to the world; hate is a good temporary motivator, but it fails in the long term for generating happiness.
