do you walk around in the store all plainclothesy and watch for shoplifters or are you like the greeters at walmart who stop people before they leave
New one plain-clothes guy who would hop in line behind people and pretend to be on his phone. The job promotes creativity tbh.

The Flood / Re: 'If you hate DC movies you're just a Marvel fanboy'
« on: January 08, 2017, 05:20:05 PM »
Save Spiderman, I prefer DC 100%.

Their theatrical movies suck, and will continue to so long as they keep their winning combination of Zack "Choke Her and Hide Her" Snyder, market testing, and constant reshoots. I want to believe a good DC movie can happen, but that will only happen once they pull the plugs out of their assholes and let the franchise embrace some of the goofier and light-hearted qualities of the comics. I'm not saying to go full Marvel, but just let Supes be the Big Blue Boy-scout. Barry doesn't have to have pockets filled with spaghetti to be a goofy and lovable guy.

Batfleck is fine tho.

I swear, you guys have no business sense.
Because I'm not looking at this as an investor, um looking at it as a consumer (which I am). There are consumers who would buy this, but have too poor of an Internet connection to do so; then there are others like me, who have no interest in the concept itself, where ownership is still an important issue. Digital games push that boundary a bit, but a streaming service where you are merely renting the product is over that line.

I could see this being more profitable stateside once optic fiber connections become more common, but right now most of the continent is stuck with dial up or seventy year old copper lines that cable companies are milking.

Assuming your internet connection isn't shit. And I'd rather just build the computer anyways; it's worth it to play on lower settings being that I have no cap on playtime.

The Flood / Re: Verb got banned for two months

I wouldn't say #freeVerb per say. I do think a ban is justified here, but not a two month one.

Also, apparently he can't PM either. Does that always happen with bans, or is it case-specific?

I'm having a hard time thinking of a logical explanation for this other than the obvious one. Doesn't bode well for the current political term.

TBPH, Verb's been a little saltier than normal lately. If something happened in his life that caused this turn, I truly hope he resolves it. Despite the chimp-out going on ITT, he's one of our pillar members. I appreciate his posts, even when I disagree with them.
Trump happened. Verb's been in full sperg mode since election day.
I can tell you that's not the cause, but that's for Verb to explain, not me.

As LC said, the length stems from other posts, threads, and time with similar behavior.

and alongside behavior in the thread, but two months? A bit over the top.
But like has been posted before as well, two months is in a weird place because it's longer than the average ban of this severity (being around one month). These are all threads that, alone, wouldn't be considered ban-worthy and are only truly judged based on sheer volume. I'd say that the real issue, then, is his current attitude, which makes the current ban a time-out.

A week, two weeks, maybe a month even based on severity and the estimate on how long it'll take to reverse the behavior. Two months is a long-ass time, especially for a ban based on a trend and not cut-and-dry "done fucked up" moments like most heavy bans (see: Deci, Episode 7 spoilers).

Verb said to add him on Steam. He can't juggle all of these messages atm.

I could see a week or so if it was taken seriously (I thought it was a joke tbh) and alongside behavior in the thread, but two months? A bit over the top.

Can't believe it's taken me this long to buy it tbh. Fixes all of my issues with WoW: no "gather x" quests (so far, at least), more bearable TTK, and the option to play solo or in a group. I know they aren't "the same kind of game", but my point is that I should have been playing this instead of shouldering through WoW years ago.

Also why is Crusader best grill?

Gaming / Re: Do Steam reviews influence your purchase?
« on: December 30, 2016, 11:45:37 PM »
Overwhelmingly negative reviews will make me research a game a bit harder, but if I'm buying a game then generally I don't give a shit about shills or nills.

Things to be ready for though, because they're not like other dogs and be a challenge:
-super independent
-can be really stubborn
-they will defy you sometimes just because
-incredibly intelligent
-generally don't like strangers
-can become really aggressive/destructive if not raised right
-they clean themselves but they will shed like crazy especially during shedding seasons

Not a dog breed I'd suggest to a first time owner, but you've made the commitment already. Don't fuck it up.
basically they're small chows

I have yet to use anything other than Tone or Ion. They're pretty great so far.
I used the Northstar once in a game of Bounty Hunt. It's actually pretty damn effective at taking down titans.

The Flood / Re: Which is a darker story: Children of Men or The Road?
« on: December 29, 2016, 12:45:07 AM »
CoM's journey was based on possibly saving mankind. The Road's was about finding somewhere warmer to live in the apocalypse.

The Road never pretends to hope for more than hunger, violence, and disease. With one major exception, it's constantly depressing, and the one time it wasn't served to drive home the hopelessness of the book's reality.

what if the game is good but the story is trite or the VA is garbage
I usually turn off voice acting when I can. In some cases, like Devil Survivor, the acting just isn't that good. In nearly every case, it's just suuuuper slow and not worth waiting after I've already read the subtitles for it to finish.
personally, i derive a LOT of entertainment from bad voice acting

it can make an otherwise average game a lot funnier, so it's win/win for me
Not bad acting, just not good. Bland, unimpressive.
sounds pretty bad to me

overacted in the wrong places

imo bland and unimpressive would be the MMO localizations that just sound like normal americans sounding like normal americans in a completely different world

strong accents worked well in skyrim, dragons dogma sounded goofy but fun, like monty python, but if a knight in armor sounded like a new york millenial that would put me out of it, it doesn't work in the context but could work elsewhere
No not his link, explaining what I meant in my og post.

Anyone hating on the grappling hook is just bad at the game, if swinging around like Spiderman is an option you should always take it.
Why would someone hate the grappling hook

That's like 60% of the selling point for the game
