I'm all for state's rights, but above all I'm a Constitutionalist, and California is out of line here. While first it may be something innocuous like a climate change agreement, next thing you know it's gonna be refugees. It should be strictly the job of the Federal government to control borders and conduct diplomacy with other foreign governments.
The Federal government should send in the National Guard and have Jeremy Brown made an example and deposed of. Individual states getting uppity and choosing to just ignore the Constitution on their own whim is not something that should be taken lightly, regardless of whichever idiot may be in power.
To be fair, it is in a "grey" area. 10th Amendment covers the extent of states rights, but the Contract Clause forbids states from entering alliances, contracts, or confederations even with the consent of Congress (although agreements and compacts were distinctly distinguished from these in Holmes v. Jennison, 1840). It will be interesting to see where this goes.
