thoughts shouldn't be crimes or anything like verb thinks, but holding some thoughts is definitely unethical in and of itself
Disagree. Thoughts aren't conscious; you can have thoughts and simultaneously disagree with them. Penultimate example is OCD, even more specifically Pure-O OCD. Thoughts are the result of the unconscious mind, which deliberates upon all things regardless of a person's ideologies.

Thinking someone has a "punchable face" (only in quotation marks due to the nature of the conversation) is not something someone considers on the conscious level, but the unconscious level.

1592
Even then, I could argue the "punchable" bit too. While Shkreli is an evil person, I would personally feel he's been wronged if he was hit outside of some pre-agreed action (for some PR charity or something).

Point is, it doesn't mean that you want a person to be punched, it's just a cultural way of expressing the idea that they exude the very concept of being a terrible person.

1593
either you say someone has a punchable face literally, in which you're using bigotry to justify violent thoughts; or figuratively, in which you're using ever-changing moods and (usually) unintentional "negative" expressions to justify violent thoughts

pro backpedaling, but the alternative is bad too
Have I said anything else so far? My b if so, I'm not always great at expressing my points.

And I'm fine with thoughts, so long as they don't become actions or calls-to-action

So you are the most hardcore communist I've ever talked to

and believe Martin did nothing wrong

class stop acting like a chode
tbh it's Verb-tier

All parties may take that as they will
saying someone has a punchable face is saying they're at fault for their facial features

this is not an issue of semantics
Face is shorthand for "typical expressions". Some people look dweeby, some look smug, some look like they practice in a mirror. Regardless, the term (like most lingual shorthand) refers to certain traits that the average person attributes to expression (facial or chosen, such as hairstyle or accessory choice) because of inherent biases created by the media or personal experience.
Like tbh the perfect example of this definition is in this thread, where Verb (wrongly) believes Adam Scott has a punchable face, which is the result of his experiences both personal and from the media (maybe he watched Step Brothers one too many times, idk)

Be honest, you get REALLY petty about semantics sometimes
i'm an english nerd, i have an excuse
It's an excuse, but is it a good one? Like please, come on now.

NEVER judge anyone for their physical traits, literal subhuman thinking. Even if 100% turned out to be douches, you shouldn't think they are until they prove themselves that way.
To note, the only person with a universally punchable face is Martin Shkreli (surprised more people don't think that about Trump). Everyone else is the result of experiences and internal biases.
Martin doesn't have a punchable face, nor does anyone. The closest you can get is being ugly, which is already subliminally discriminated against by society, no need to make it a stated discrimination too.
The reason why it's punchable is because it is permanently adorned by a smug expression regardless of (or because of) the terrible things he's done tho.

If you see a white dude with wacky colored dreads, grills, and looks to be in his early 30s then the immediate assumption is that he's a terrible person (because 99.9% of the time it's true).
That's extremely fucked up. What about the fucking .1%? Fuck him, right?
He's the margin of error. Statistically he doesn't exist lol

1603
nothing about the show (or any show in this genre) is good
super rude

acquaintanceship ended with Verb
now Class is my acquaintance

If you're a condescending asshole and people want to hit you because of it, you don't have a "punchable face" lmao. Does your face have a thing to do with your personality?

this is why I discredit all of jacob's posts, he actually believes in this shit
I'd say people have punchable faces because they remind the average onlooker of someone they hate or (in the case of actors) they tend to play shitrag characters.
It's still a dumb expression

people dont control how they look

come up with a word like punchable aura if you want a phrase that justifies casual violence
Usually the term spreads outside the face, anyway

like Riff Raff
he has a hateable personality, not a punchable face

since when did we start using language for words that sound zingy instead of words that are correct
It gets the point across. If you see a white dude with wacky colored dreads, grills, and looks to be in his early 30s then the immediate assumption is that he's a terrible person (because 99.9% of the time it's true).

Slang and such doesn't have to be dictionary accurate anyway, it's entirely based on cultural awareness

1605
maybe if they stopped looking at the camera all the time

that gag isn't funny
I only think it's okay given that it's in the Mockumentary genre

Nah

everyone's face on this show just looks smug and annoying
100% disagree

If anything, they're good at playing smug looks for laughs

fuck you class
"Fuck you, Class." That's the first thing you've said in the last four hours. That's a... that's a fountain of conversation, man. That's a geyser. I mean, whoa daddy! Stand back, man. Shit. I'm sitting here posting. Doing all the posting, man. The whole fucking way from 2014 posting. Just trying to... chat, you know. Keep our spirits up, fight the boredom of the day, and you can't say one fucking thing just in the way of conversation. Oh fuck it. I don't have to talk to you either, man. See how you like it. Just total fucking silence. Two can play at that game, smart guy. We'll just see how you like it. Total silence.
pls tell me this is a copypasta

Okay, that's a relief, because that was bordering on Deci territory otherwise.
Man I wish I was deci

dude gets to talk about his interests whenever he comes here and even calling him cringy is like calling the grass green

I can't do anything fun on this super serious forum
idk, regardless of intent some of your threads have some sort of subject for others to talk about besides you. Like the "people you should hate" thread from earlier; regardless, it's reasonable activity even if it's a "class thread xd"
I would say the majority of my threads do. When was the last thread I made that talked about me?

The problem is that my interests are pretty much the opposite of this forum's, so anything I talk about that I want to will be met with disdain. See Nuka's "all of your posts only talk about feminism, sitcoms, or drugs" posts.

If I make a thread about what I like, it's in the same vein as a jive thread here, because while mine has discussion value, only people who know the source will be able to have a discussion. But I can't help it - I could post about the shit people here love, like bashing teenagers or shitting on anything popular.
don't forget memes, but yeah. I only post threads if it's anarchy or I'm inebriated (so I could get on a high horse if I wanted to), so at least you're posting threads when a subject that can be discussed comes to mind.

SecondClass threads are annoying but they're a million times better than Loaf threads
That's still pretty insulting tbh considering Loaf threads are the Yahoo comments of the site

1611
Like Adam Scott was the best pick for the role. I wish he would get more good roles in Hollywood tbh

1612
when casting for these shows, do they exclusively screen for people who have the most punchable faces
But Amy Poehler, Adam Scott, Rob Low, Chris Pratt, Audrey Plaza, Retta, etc are adorable

The only people I want to punch are Kevin Symons, Darlene Hunt, and Jon Glaser, and I'm supposed to want to punch them in the face.

At worst, Office/Parks&Rec get kudos for not using laugh tracks. The jokes stand on their own, for better or worse.

1617
Boring
One of the best comedies ever

Parks and Rec > The Office
well sure, but the office is pretty low ball as a comedy

its dramatic elements work way better
I meant in terms of the "documentary-style comedy" genre

I also loathe the fact that The Office is bigger in the public's perception, and that Parks & Rec is the show that people watch one random s1 episode from and write it off.
