make sure to write down your thoughts and feelings on all of your coworkers next to some conspicuous evidence so someone can stumble across it in 200 years time while searching for a can of beans to eat

I haven't listened to anything released this year except Wayne's new album, and I only listened to a couple tracks.

How do people consume music nowadays?
I tend to use Spotify as I like to listen to music while doing work on my PC, so it's pretty convenient (moreso than using Youtube). But I tend to still buy the albums I listen to a lot, partially because I like a physical collection and partially to support the artists more.

I'm staying at my parents' over christmas and my room here is too small for a desk

Is that the old G Pro?

It's a Logitech G203, I quite like it
Yeah, that's the other one I was thinking it might be. They both have the same rounded back with the RGB line across. I got my girlfriend a G203 for Christmas actually.
Yeah, it's a good mouse. Otherwise my specs are GTX 1080 8GB, 16GB RAM, i7-7700 CPU and a Z170 K3 motherboard with a 240GB SSD and a 2TB HDD. Pretty good for doing modelling/ texturing/ lighting engine work.

This is easily their best album since Black Holes and Revelations.

This is the only album that's released this year I've listened to though. Most of my listening has been catching up on some older stuff. In terms of the stuff I've first listened to this year, ...Like Clockwork I've found to be pretty much endlessly re-listenable.

I got some Stellaris DLC that I didn't own. Distant Stars and the Humanoid/ Plantoid species packs. I also bought the new Megacorp expansion last week that I've been having a lot of fun with playing as the IMC. I wouldn't normally have bought the species packs as they just add new ship models and portraits rather than anything substantial but for like £2 each I thought it was pretty good deal. Think I might do a run at some point as a devouring swarm of venus flytrap people.

what are your favorite songs by the prodigy
I like a lot of the stuff from Invaders Must Die and The Day Is My Enemy, but I do also quite like all the big songs (Firestarter etc). Otherwise, I'd say my favourites by them are Omen, Wild Frontier and Run With The Wolves. I kind of go through phases with them though - this time last year Prodigy and Pendulum were making up a big chunk of my listening but right now it's more rock stuff again so I've not been listening to them as much.

howd you like the new muse album? i enjoyed it
I really liked it, probably their best work since Black Holes and Revelations. Not a big fan of Something Human and Get Up And Fight is just awful but everything else is really good. In particular, Algorithm, Blockades and The Void. I'm going to see them in Manchester in June which should be pretty great.
seeing them in February for their world tour. wasnt a fan of dig down but everything else was good.i even got their super deluxe album
Bit jealous that you get february lad

I'm actually partial to Dig Down at times  it's not their best song but it sort of feels like a superior version of Madness to me. The super deluxe alt edition tracks are really nice too though. I find it hard to choose between Algorithm on the album or the orchestral version and the acoustic Something Human is a much better listen than the album version.
Lol im skipping a day of classes just for the concert.
Nice. Have you seen the think they're doing for this tour? They're doing something they called the "fifteen minutes of metal medley" where they play pretty much the main chunks of all their heaviest songs. Last week, they did it for the first time and played Stockholm Syndrome, The Handler, Reapers, Assassin, Dead Star, the Micro Cuts outro segment and New Born all one after another. It looks fucking great.

as long as it's not forced in any way or even really encouraged I don't think it's the worst because... well I don't have to do it. At least it's not the mandatory torture mission in GTAV which is just awful.

I, an independent video consumer, would consider a small little-known indie title by the name of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for the role. Why not buy a copy and try it out?

wtf did 343 do to MCC now. Social you just pick the games and gametypes you want now. Also you get banned for 10 minutes when you quit one game,  yeah thanks 343 for punishing people when they  don't want to play against a team of sweatys.

Halo 3 also has big team heavies now
It solves the cross game playlist issue. I think it's great as you can just directly search the games you want rather than risk getting Halo CE CTF with no time limit on Gephyrophobia.

There was an air pollution warning in the air the day after bonfire night in my town because of the smoke from all the fireworks being let off. Shit looked like bladerunner on the night beforehand though, everything was covered in a thin layer of mist. It was like hong kong all over again.

Not gonna bother quoting every post but I'll just say thanks for all the recommendations. I'm gonna work through the stuff recommended in this thread over the next few days/ weeks and I'll try post updates of stuff I liked/ disliked if people care for that sort of thing?

I will add these to the list too, thanks.

there's a song trent did with both dave grohl and josh homme, if you weren't aware

with teeth might be the first place you look, based on what you like, not sure if his older stuff would actually appeal to you (even if it's strongly preferred by most fans, including myself)
Oh sweet thanks. I've been planning on looking at the other stuff Homme has been in like Kyuss and Desert Sessions (and I forgot to put Them Crooked Vultures in OP) so this is definitely something to look at. This seems really interesting, thanks.

The Flood / Music recommendations
« on: November 03, 2018, 06:49:59 AM »
I've been listening to my playlist a lot recently while doing uni work, and I've been looking to expand it with some more stuff than the ~300 songs I've got right now. I can link the playlist if anyone particularly wants to see it but the general gist of it is going on bands I like and just clicking "add album" on all their stuff.

Anyway, I figured people here might know some good recommendations.

stuff i like - i added a note for what stuff I have all albums down in case there's something by an artist I've missed
Muse (all albums + most B sides)
Queens of the Stone Age (all albums)
Royal Blood (both albums)
Foo Fighters (most albums)
Kasabian
Kaiser Chiefs
Pendulum
The Prodigy
Nirvana

I've also got the big songs from AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple but I'm still working my way through all their catalogue.

So yeah, some recommendations would be great, especially stuff more similar to Muse/ QoTSA/ Royal Blood/ Foo Fighters as that's the stuff that makes up a bulk of my playlist and what I've been listening to a lot lately.

Foo Fighters' self-titled is nice, I was surprised when I heard that it's all Dave Grohl on that album too.

The Flood / Re: How do so many people get down with Kendrick Lamar?
« on: October 30, 2018, 06:36:54 AM »
honestly I can't think of many songs I listen to where it's about connecting with the artist on an emotional level or what have you. A lot of the time, the songs I like like My God is The Sun or Knights of Cydonia are more about the instruments and how they play off each other (especially good basslines) but I can pretty much shrug off any lyrical content as it's rarely what I focus on.

While that's all my experience with rock bands like Muse and Queens of the Stone Age and Foo Fighters, I'd imagine that people who listen to rap also get something similar out of "the sound" of the music, if that makes sense.
