Bullshit like this is why the IT industry is a crapshoot >.>
It's corporate greed at its finest. All I have to say is, well, you get what you pay for, as they're about to find out. 4023

We look at funny shapes and lines and pixel arrangements that have meaning only because we've given them meaning.this is just too rich, coming from one of the most pedantic users i've ever met 4024

And the Dunmer pushed into the 'Grey Quarter' (previously the Snow Corner but changed because racism)? He'll give everyone religious freedom, so long as they're not Argonian or Dunmer. Equality for everyone! Just some people are more equal than others.okay first the Argonians aren't even religious, 2nd there is no implication at all that Ulfric intends to stop the Dunmer from worshipping their gods. 4027

Metroid Prime Trilogy has some of the best FPS controls on the Wii. It's a shame we didn't get more (good) games like it.

Gaming / Re: So why are we trying to stop Alduin in Sklyrim?« on: February 05, 2015, 08:35:08 AM »But the gameplay is more important here. Every game tries to create tension with the writing (ie: a "time limit" that doesn't actually exist), and the tension goes out the window once the gameplay doesn't hold up. Writing alone can only do so much, and is not the be-all and end-all of drama.Of course tangible consequences are a big part, but that doesn't mean the writing isn't also at fault for the lack of build and tension.Writing doesn't go far enough. Any game can try to do that, but there needs to be tangible consequences, or else it doesn't mean anything.Even in games where nothing will happen when you dilly-daddle, they can still create the illusion of pressure. You just never get that feeling in Skyrim because the writing isn't good enough to provoke that feeling.Because he's waking the dragons, and the last time that happened the world was in peril.I'm not sure if it's the writing so much as Skyrim being a static world and nothing bad would ever actually come of ignoring the story and not being a hero. Skyrim's a shallow 'role-playing game' that doesn't bother to do justice to the writing >.> 4033

Very early on in Deus Ex: Human Revolution, the player character is called in to resolve a hostage crisis. His boss tells him that he needs to leave in like 15 minutes or bad things might start happening. If you take too long to leave, you'll find out that the hostages were killed. Nothing like that would ever happen in Skyrim, because the game doesn't care to be that ambitious. 4036

I just thought I'd restate what Meta said with less fancy vocabulary to see if more people would understand that. >_>I'm not disputing that. We're discussing concepts here, not probable implementation. "Likeliness" has nothing to do with the question.I mean, it's possible, but it's extremely unlikely to happen, which I think is what Nuka's getting at.It wouldn't be voluntary, it'd be forced. That's the only way for it to be possible. That's not true; it's logically possible for a species to voluntarily go extinct. There's no contradiction there. 4049
