It's both. You can upload 20k of your own songs for free to their servers, and stream them to your device(s) without a subscription. If you pay the $9.99, you can also stream music you don't own just like Spotify/Rdio/etc does.
I got in when GPM was just announced and did a introductory price of $7.99/mo if you signed up in the first 90 days or whatever. So that's a bonus for me, but I think I'd still use Google over Spotify, et al, if I were paying the usual $9.99
Thanks. I don't usually listen to a lot of music I don't have on my phone, but I might consider something like this.
The nice thing about uploading your stuff is that you don't have to waste your storage space on your phone with music. The only drawback is if you're traveling/flying/in an area with no reception/wifi then you can't stream the stuff you uploaded.
Yeah, that is the one issue I have with streaming music, having to rely on an internet connection. How much data would you say it uses?
You can choose music to save locally so you can still listen without an internet connection.
