Regardless of the reputation of the source, we do live in a world where calling someone who committed an act of terror a "terrorist" can be considered politically incorrect.

anyone who puts their life on the line for what they believe to be a good cause isn't a coward.
So then what about those terrorist in Russia that used kids as hostages?
They're not cowards. Any time you risk your own life, you're not a coward. Any person in ISIS, for example, isn't a coward.
Well, it's pretty easy to be brave if you think lots of scantly clad virgins are awaiting you in the afterlife.

Back on topic though, the people who say those sorts of things are stupid. War isn't a chivalric one to one duel. It's about killing the other guy before he kills you. You don't give the enemy a fair fight, because then you've got a 50% chance to lose it. I'm willing to bet that most of those WWI charges boiled down to kicking the other guy in the balls and then beating him to death with your trench spade, if you were lucky enough not to be sawn in half by machine gun fire in the middle of no-mans-land.

So performing open heart surgery from 800 meters away is fair game. Blowing up a few white dots on a FLIR screen is fair game.

Because the other guy would do it to you or your buddies if he had the chance.

Serious / Re: Socialists take control of Greece
« on: January 26, 2015, 05:40:17 PM »
Hell, at this point, they might as well cede their sovereignty to Germany. They're already the only ones keeping the country going.

So these new guys are going to try to get Greece's debt written off (HA, good luck with that!) and crank up the social benefits again.

But the only way they were able to pay for those social benefits in the first place was by taking out loans.

So Greece will try and write off its debt, will settle for a revised payment plan instead, and will try and take out more debt to pay for the promised social benefits. And that new debt will be issued at an even higher interest rate...

no these groups exist primarily as a product of US involvment since the 1950s.
That's just not true.

Not only is it naive, but it's fundamentally masochistic to think the actions of people, who will hate you for not allowing them to commit genocide, are the direct product of your own actions.

Not even considering that, however, what about the anti-Semitism rife among pre-1950s Palestine? What about the Barbary Pirates using the Qur'an as the justification for their actions in the early 1800s? Are you seriously going to try and tell me that such things are the result of U.S. (or any other Western country's involvement for that matter) actions? No. Of course you aren't.

I just find it odd that nobody ever throws any blame at the Russians for helping to screw up the Middle East six ways to Sunday, considering that they were sitting on the other side of the chess board when it came to Cold War maneuvering. Nobody ever seems to mention that the Soviets armed and funded the PLO along with scores of tin pot dictators, for instance.

A couple more tips.

Do not underestimate the value of suppressing fire. See a bunch of tracers coming at your teammates but can't see the actual guy shooting? Put some fire down on where it looks like its coming from.  If you don't get him, you'll at least force him to put his head down.

Smoke grenades are best grenades, especially on Push. They are invaluable especially on that one map where the Americans start on the bottom of that hill and need to push up to the town.

Bit of an update I saw about this.

http://www.military.com/daily-news/2015/01/22/firm-set-to-manufacture-russian-ak47-kalashnikov-rifles-in-us.html

Kalashnikov USA is NOT a subsidiary of Kalashnikov Concern. The US distributor of Kalashnikov rifles, RWC, has not been in contact with KC as per the sanctions, but evidently has the rights to the Kalashnikov name as well as manufacturing rights.

As long as they do not do business with KC, they can manufacture all the rifles they want Stateside.

And another analyst said that analyst's testimony was faked using CGI and a voice synthesizer.

Also, ISIS is secretly run by the Lizard People.

Well, I wasn't taken to a back room and probed last time I crossed into the US, so...

And if there is some government agent monitoring this forum, he should ask for a raise.

They probably would have set up a US subsidiary eventually. Isn't that what most companies do to bypass the US' import parts rules?

But given the geopolitical circumstances, this is rubbing salt in a wound.

Halo CE Assault Rifle. Sixty rounds on tap, and it had the best firing sound of all of Halo's ARs. But Reach's version is a close contender.

Favourite dual combo? It's a tie between double SMGs and double Needlers.

Too bad Costco blows them out of the water in the groceries department.

And the automotive and sporting goods departments in their Canadian stores are a joke. I guess they don't want to compete with Canadian Tire on that.

Serious / Re: Can animals have rights?
« on: January 24, 2015, 10:45:13 AM »
Human rights? No.

Though I agree that most should have the right to be ethically treated, and in the case of livestock or wild game, ethically harvested. Of course everyone's definition of "ethically treated" is going to be different. I don't think people should be charged with animal cruelty because a rabbit decided to hop in front of a transport truck, for instance.

IIRC yanks get netflix cheaper than we do, but that was a while ago so it might have hit parity by now.
Also, US Netflix has more and/or higher resolution content than international versions. Everyone here uses VPNs to access US Netflix because there's way more stuff.

The Japanese are actually a bunch of xenophobic assholes.
True. Also, you'd have more luck asking a Japanese person what their favourite baseball team is as opposed to their favourite anime.

But movies and music, I torrent that stuff. If marathoning Stargate SG1 makes me a bad person, I guess I can live with it.

After Cook’s revelation Thursday, ultraconservative St. Petersburg lawmaker Vitaly Milonov called for Cook to be banned from traveling to Russia, telling the Web site FlashNord that he, or other gay people, could bring “the Ebola virus, AIDS, gonorrhea” to Russia.

Ultraconservative St. Petersburg lawmaker Vitaly Milonov does know that Ebola is not a sexually transmitted disease, right?

Wannabe ISIS terrorists don't observe Western laws? Who'd a thunk it?!
Was he an Islamist? To be honest after that one cop killer guy who looked like Solid Snake, I just stopped following these shooter stories. They get sensationalized to hell and it seems like one happens every other week. I just don't care anymore.
More or less. He converted to Islam a few years back, then got kicked out of his mosque for saying bad things about "infidels". And in the beginning of the month, he tried to get a Libyan passport.

He also made a video before the attack, but the police have not released it.

Not saying there isn't the odd gang shooting or murder-suicide here, but such brazen acts are pretty rare in our neck of the woods.

Serious / Re: Obama's Syria strategy is failing
« on: November 03, 2014, 02:41:48 PM »
There was a strategy?

The FSA has been little more than some scattered militias with some turncoat army units thrown in since the beginning of the war. They were never organized or cohesive enough to hold onto their early gains.

And then Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Co. got the bright idea to hand blank cheques to anti-Assad Islamic militant groups. They were able to pay for arms and experienced fighters, and once they got big enough, FSA units that had been supported by the US started defecting over to ISIS. Leaving the US with it's pants down for all the world to see.
