I think the question you ought to be asking yourself is if separation (with the ex) had to be the only answer. I say this not to pry or not to judge, but because over the last few months, I've been learning some very difficult lessons. And two of those lessons are both humility and honesty. My relationship with my family and friends has been damaged because I lacked both.

maybe one day i'll watch this

if they consolidated it into just two or three films, that would be great
You should watch it. There are no unnecessary episodes, no filler. Everything is well-paced.
i find that hard to believe

but like i said, maybe
I have a very high standard for shows, so I don't easily recommend them.

Indeed, that is the usual reaction.

It's more expensive than a steel drum and it has a higher quality sound. A lot more engineering went into the design of the handpan than in the steelpan. I suggest you look it up, it's quite amazing actually. The creators basically took the properties of gongs, steelpans, bells, and combined them all into one intrument. So saying a handpan is a poor man's steel drum is like saying Caviar is a poor man's sardines.
I just found a fuckload for sale with one google search.
Link.
Here's one guy who sells nothing but.

And once you consider the man hours it will take you, not to  mention the materials if you keep messing up, you actually might find yourself in a better position paying for one.
Interesting. I'll have to keep an eye on this guy. For now, he doesn't have any scales I desire. I'm looking for a minor scale, preferrable d-minor. Anyway, like Verbatim implied, it isn't just about acquiring a handpan. It's imparting a lot of discipline upon me and it's become sort of meditative. When I get fixated on something, I want to figure out how it works. There is an adrenaline rush I get when I work on a grueling problem and then I begin to make breakthroughs. Besides, if I am going to buy a handpan, I want to buy one in a scale I want and so far, there are waitlists for that kind of thing.

that's pretty cool, but the most discouraging thing about it isn't just making it--but knowing that you'd have to learn how to play it afterwards
I heard they're quite easy to play, though I imagine the thumbs and fingers would start to develope callouses from striking metal so much. But after firing my shell, it's amazing how much the metal resonates at the slightest touch.

Bungie decided to make a fix to the group moderation system. Apparently you can no longer moderator non-member posts. It was probably in reaction to my habit of making public group threads and removing loads of comments. But I wanted to see if it can backfire. Let me know if you can remove my spam: https://www.bungie.net/en/Clan/Post/145015/132495116/0/0/1

EDIT: Also, sorry in advance. XD

Yeah Stannis gonna die. Don't want him to die but they've had him sink to this low, I see that as preparation for killing him off.

On a more important note, who /hype/ for Cleganebowl 2016 next season?
After burning Shireen I doubt Stannis will die this season now that the lord of light is with him.
>believing in god

lol
Except the lord of light clearly has a lot of power
The power to make Stannis into a complete zealot with as little evidence as possible, apparently.
Maybe you should rewatch the show

Game of Thrones sacrifices good and believable storytelling for edginess and brutality. It is not sophisticated, it isn't realistic despite all claims to the contrary, it's just an immature mess.
Guess you haven't seen the show, the politics is very real.
The reason I said what I said is because I have seen the show, it formed the basis of my opinion. Is that seriously a concept that you did not comprehend?
When you form an opinion about something you haven't seen yourself around the bad stuff people tell you then of course you're going to have a negative opinion on the show.
Like I said, I have seen the show and I watched it all the way to season four, where I got sick of it. I've had more than enough to form my opinion. Seriously, do you have a reading comprehension problem? I'm a guy who writes about gay dragons, what makes you think I am influenced by others' opinions and thoughts??

Serious / Re: Does the concept of an afterlife de-value life?
« on: June 06, 2015, 11:27:13 PM »
You are making the assumption that an afterlife is just the same as the life we have right now, only more peaceful and without violence. But I believe it is infinitely more profound than that. If you are to believe that there is an omnipotent, omniscience God who loves everybody intimately, then you would want to be with that being, as well as be with the spirits of all those whom you love. And if God is infinite, then the creations he can make are infinite as well, since his imagination is not limited by stimuli or experience. After all, if he can create and maintain a universe as complex as ours, what is to stop him from doing it again, only completely different? Plus history is an ongoing thing, new ideas are always being presented, new events keeps happening in the cosmos, we may get to witness that.

Now the next question is obviously "What's the point of life then? Why not just skip to the afterlife?". Some religions teach about mortal sin, about some transgression humanity committed against God. I doubt any of the literal interpretations are true, but they probably have basis in the truth. If you believe in a soul, then you must also believe that it can be affected by evil. If you lead a life of violence and crime, then that paradigm will ingrain itself in your spirit, which may carry over into the afterlife. Since its not a thing that can be measured with science, there is no way we know for sure what happens. But perhaps this is a possibility: If one can accept the existence of a guiding hand, then we must account for the fact that this entity knows what is happening at every moment. It knows and maintains all the processes and the machinations of our universe, sustaining the laws of physics. If one can accept this, then they must know that logic dictates that such an entity also knows each of us on an intimate level.

Now if you are an omnipotent entity who knows no threat or felt any need to fight for his life, then you would never know hatred, it would be an alien concept to you, or rather an incompatible one. If you are the only thing in existence and you create life...would it be unreasonable to assume that you love that life? Maybe the reason you created it is because it was new and you wanted to see what it would do with the laws of the universe, to see what humanity could create with the tools it was lent. But when their physical bodies die, you would still want them to live wouldn't you? But if they have that incompatible concept on their hearts and if they aren't willing to surrender it, then they must be sorted from those that do. A bit deep, but that's my guess.

The Flood / What if somebody claimed to be "transabled"?
« on: June 04, 2015, 10:34:07 AM »
How would you guys react if there was a movement of people who claimed they felt that their arms and legs shouldn't be working? That they felt they were disabled, despite the fact that they had motor functions in said limbs? Would it be insensitive and damaging to say that they do indeed, have functioning limbs? Would anybody who calls out the movement as BS instantly be labeled as a bigoted intolerant asshole? Would I be accused of using the slippery slope?

Would I?

Okay, what if I told you it was a real thing? Is it a valid concern or are they just trying to exploit the transgendered community?

Assuming a stepper motor has 4 coils with a 15 degree offset between the stator and rotor, then what are the digital codes in the clockwise rotation if it is being driven by a shift register? What are the codes in the counterclockwise direction?
Sorry, I have no interest in helping you calibrate your dildo.
Why would my dildo have a stepper motor? I was testing your knowledge. Anyway, the answer for clockwise is 1000, 0100, 0010, 0001. Counterclockwise: 0001, 0010, 0100, 1000. It's so easy. Now, can you tell me when hysteresis might be desirable?
