Just saying, if I ever go try hard at life I'm not reaching for money. I'm doing it for power, to own as much as I can, build as much as a can, and create a name people remember. I'm not ashamed, it's human nature.
I don't know. I see "the board game" as art. Not something horrible. These people gained power because others let then, and they were smart with it. Can they deceive? Sure, but if the naive people who fell for the trick were in charge we wouldn't be in that much of a better place. Honestly, I agree with you. This is a concept that I also believe. Life is nothing more than the cruelest game possible. I really believe the concept of immortality is one that is embedded within everyone. We play a gambling game, the religious hold the belief that they will gain an access to an afterlife for their actions and as such hold the belief that their actions matter. We procreate and teach kids our values in order for some fragments of ourselves to continue, DNA, ideas, and more. There has been killers such as Eric Harris who believed that his actions would gain him everlasting life, and he was right because to this day people still study the Columbine shooting. Those that have done such things as good as Martin Luther Jr. has done and as evil as Hitler has done has been granted immortality for their actions. Our want for power is a powerful one and one that can be self-crippling when you look at the fact that most are condemned to the average life of insignificance that will be forgotten within a generation or two. One could even argue that in this respect, life has little to no meaning. Really, what would be the difference between putting a gun to my head right now or dying a natural death? I would still leave the same insignificant mark regardless. Money is honestly just another means to an end, power is a natural craving, a driving force for people, that is as constructive as it is self destructive depending on the hands it is in.
