Serious / Re: A question for non hetero people.
« on: November 18, 2014, 09:41:47 AM »
Really, to me, this seems to be one of those questions that I have been on the fence about, at times I would say yes, while at other times no. Bi here by the way. The way I see it, my sexuality is a part of who I am, and if I were no longer the same sexuality, I would no longer be the exact same person. Mannerisms I have, my ideology on subjects, and more would probably change with my change on sexuality. On the converse side, I live a Hispanic Catholic family that does not know my actual sexual identity and when thinking about it, I don't know if I could ever engage in a homosexual relationship because of possible ties being severed between family members. On another note, I do also want biological children and would rather do it the old fashion method rather than go through means of artificial insemination to save money and the hassle.

In a similar thought that I have had lately, with our growing knowledge on genetics and our capacity to alter genetics of embryos, one has to ask, would it be wrong to alter the genetics of your child to ensure he would be "normal"? Obviously, I would have no problem with my child being gay, however, I do realize that not everyone shares the same sentiments.
That's a valid point, you would be different. The problem is that people won't accept people for who they are. But what I mean is, would you prefer to be solely hetero? Not because of any of the ignorant shit people say, but you in your situation?

As for altering genes in an embryo, I agree with it fully. I think it would be best.
I have no problem being bi myself, more stuff to get off to am I right? But, I know things aren't that one dimensional, if I were to change to my sexuality, it would be for other people; to avoid stigma and be able to live with less stress.

On the note of altering embryo genetics, I am on the fence. I support it fully when it comes to genetic diseases such as Downs, but with such factors as sexuality, it becomes more ambiguous. Really, I could see arguments happening one day that people who do such things as altering genetics to make sure their child is straight is an attack on LGBT rights or such a thing being used as a means of arguing that being anything other than straight is "wrong".

I personally think I would do it myself. Really, I would not want my child to have to go through hearing that he is wrong for a sexual attraction he cannot control and leaving him confused. On another more selfish means, I do want my child to continue propagating and keep the genetic legacy going. While obviously it is possible for a gay person to reproduce, I do acknowledge that it could end up less likely. Say for example they wish to adopt rather than have a biological child or the other partner is the one who donates the sperm for the child. While as good as adoption is, I don't think I could feel good knowing that my gene line ended within one generation.

Drinking two beers and getting plastered off of it and flirting with the little girls at a wedding is not my point of view for fun, but I digress. Have fun.

I want to say I hope you never have kids, but I'm pretty sure sex is already out of the question for you anyway.

Pls use a condom if you rape someone.
I really wouldn't worry, all the ones he will go after haven't had their period yet.

No, your friend is wrong, you need the sperm cells from STEM major graduates, that will make you smarter. Don't get Liberal arts sperm though, it will have the opposite effect.

I bought this zombie film one time. Can't remember the name of it. Needless to say, it was the worst piece of crap I have ever watched.

I cut the disk up, burned it and fired it into the street.
Is it the one with Danny Trejo on the cover even though he dies in the first 15 minutes?
