Well, this thread has certainly changed. Since the subject has changed to drug use, I have an inquiry for you Verb. I remember during one of your last arguments against drugs, you said that one of the problems you have with them is that they produce "artificial happiness," or happiness produced without any just cause for feeling good aside from the desire to feel good. I meant to ask you about this last time, but it was late and I fell asleep then and the thread died the next day and I didn't feel like being the one to revive it.

It's been almost a full year that I've been drug free now because of work; however, the first time I did shrooms I was going through a bout of depression, suicidal thoughts and all that shit, and while my evidence is anecdotal, using the drug not only made me feel good during the use, but my mood improved overall for the next few months afterwords as well. I also remember someone here linking an article about studies finding that shrooms could actually serve as good way to help those out with depression. So, my question is, why do you have a problem with altering brain chemistry even if it could lead to better feelings? Just as you say that drugs produce an artificial happiness, depression causes its own negative artificial feelings that can affect anyone regardless of how good or bad your life is.
