That's kinda where I was going with this thread. Hedonistic replies aside, if there was something you wanted to do, something important, that you would push off until you had a year to live... Why not just do it now? Why not go out and make your mark?
Well, aside from hedonism, really the only thing I would want to do is insure a form of historical immortality. I'm the type to contend that life in of itself is worthless due to the fact that if is finite, really there isn't a difference between blowing your brains out this moment or waiting till your die at 80 since you'll cease to exist at the end of both scenarios. So, really the only ways I could see myself "making my mark" is through such means as mass murder and such since if you'll have a nice wikipedia page dedicated to you and several newspaper articles after.

Not really, no. I'm asking how other people feel so fine and dandy to let things slip by them. As I told you. I'd take the project that's a month away and finish it in the timespan as if it were a project due in a week since I'm aware that for myself, procrastinating can be an issue if I let it.
Or, in this instance, I'm asking why so many people are keen on putting things off until the last minute. Of course a smaller time frame is going to motivate somebody to get things done sooner. But the point I'm trying to make, is why don't they try to get things done sooner normally without having death or something knock on their door and give them a boot in the ass to move?
That's my question. Why do they need that?
