Creating threads with the sole purpose of communicating with another member (calling out) is discouraged, and the thread in question may be locked, depending on the content and context of the thread. Calling out a user maliciously will automatically earn a lock and may include a warning of 5% to 15%, depending on the severity.

Yes, the kid turned out fine.

That does not excuse the fact that the father broke the law, kidnapped his son when he did not legally have custody, and prevented the mother from seeing her son.
^

Any stance on the issue but this is wrong.

I still don't get this "Americans clap for everything" shit. The only thing I can think of is Americans clapping when the movie ends at a theater, which really isn't even that big of a deal.

to most people they're synonyms
that's because they are

synonyms are two words that are similar in meaning

envy and jealousy may not mean the exact same thing, but they are similar
I disagree with this definition of synonym

I hate archetypes.
Archetypes are pretty much necessary in storytelling. Every character that's ever been made is an archetype or combination of archetypes.
And I hate that. It would be so much better if everything was new and fresh.
I thought you liked tropes? Archetypes are pretty much just character tropes.

Hate that archetype. If you're going to hate people and be rude, do it sincerely, not this elementary school "hiding your love" shit.

OT: You're wrong.

Am I smart if I say that there's a difference between memorize, and eat? No? Then it's the same case with envy and jealousy seeing how they as well are two different words.
yeah but not many people know the difference between envy and jealously

to most people they're synonyms

Zesty said something smart!

There's a difference between "jealous" and "envious"

This is a fateful day

that feel when you know the difference between envy and jealousy

The Flood / Re: This site is full of losers

He starts as an egocentric, "all-knowing", hateful teenager. As it's made abundantly obvious throughout the book (which I guess you just couldn't pick up on), his philosophy and constant judgment of others is a way to preserve his own sense of self-worth and cover up how much he hates himself. In the last few chapters of the book, really as soon as his sister gets involved, the whole facade breaks down. When he abandons his plans to move away and become a deaf-mute, he's admitting to himself that the world isn't the problem in his life, he is. When he finds the "fuck you" written on the wall in the school, he internally knows that children aren't these inherently good figures who are just tainted by the world like he previously thought. After he goes to the hospital, he straight-up admits that he needs other people. And his breakdown at the carousel is a result of him trying to internalize all of these feelings that contrast with his world-hating philosophy.

Read a single Salinger article from the late 40's. He doesn't believe anything early-book Holden spouts out. That's just his character. Thinking otherwise is undiluted idiocy.
