The Flood / A legit question about a pariah« on: January 26, 2018, 01:22:19 PM »
What is this Mandela Effect-esque misremembering of Dane Cook? He's a genuinely funny comic (movies aside), and his material is always on-point and hilarious. If you're scoffing or rolling your eyes right now, take a look at either of these two videos (second one is way longer but has a legendary payoff)
YouTube YouTube If any other comic delivered these same bits with the exact timing and inflection as Cook does, no one would call them unfunny. I'm convinced the Dane Cook hate is a Rick and Morty style backlash against someone who had the misfortune of becoming too popular too quick. There's a stupid social trend where people think that their interests define them on a personal level, so they go out of their way to have unique, cool interests rather than ones that they legitimately enjoy. I have all kinds of interests, from mainstream (TWD, Family Guy, R&M), to niche (Community, Heathers, Twin Peaks), to straight obscure (Totally Spies, Mazzy Star, MBV). The commonality isn't their popularity, it's that I like them. This is how everyone should think, and it's a character blunder to only dislike things when they become popular, or vice versa. The average person, if they're being honest with themselves, has FAR more mainstream interests than niche or obscure ones, because generally popular things become popular for a reason. The same is true for Dane Cook - the bandwagon against him became a dead horse years ago, yet people still ride it. 394

The Flood / Help... I'm in love with Troy!« on: January 12, 2018, 11:08:03 PM »
I know that falling in love with fictional characters is not exactly a normal thing to do, but I just can't help it... I'm in love with him to the point where I get jealous when he talks to Madison. Do you guys think he is attracted to Madison, or just sees a mother figure in her? Is she attracted to him? She better not be. Madison used to be my favorite character in the show and now I have this feeling I'm going to end up hating her if something happens between them.
Ugh... why is this happening to me?! What if my boyfriend finds out that I'm in love with a fictional character? Maybe I should leave him for Troy anyways. I can't stop thinking about Troy and it's ruining my life. I have spent last few days learning how to lucid dream because I want him to be mine, even if it's just in a dream. I'm posting this here because it feels so good getting it off my chest and I obviously can't talk about this with anyone else because people IRL would put me in a mental hospital if they found out. 407

The Flood / Ribeye cooking issue« on: January 12, 2018, 02:38:21 AM »
So yesterday I got two rib eyes at a Whole Foods Market for around 16 bucks. 10oz, USDA choice, somewhat decent marbling, the whole shebang. I cooked one yesterday and I plan on cooking the other today. My problem though is that when I got the meat on the pan and searing, it started to shrink up and the edges lifted off the pan; creating all sorts of uneven cooking problems.
I don't know if it was because of the pan I was using, I don't have a proper cast iron and the pan I was using isn't entirely flat. I was gonna use a slightly bigger pan but one that was definitely more flat. I also don't know if the temperature on the stove might have played a role, I preheated the stove but I had it all the way up, not sure if I needed it on like a 6/7 out of 10 instead. Any steak experts have any good ideas? 410

Ice Age is an American media franchise centering on a group of mammals surviving the Paleolithic ice age. It is produced by Blue Sky Studios, a division of 20th Century Fox, and featuring the voices of Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary, and Chris Wedge. Five films have been released in the series thus far with Ice Age in 2002, Ice Age: The Meltdown in 2006, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs in 2009, Ice Age: Continental Drift in 2012, and Ice Age: Collision Course in 2016. It has received some criticism for making no attempt to be scientifically accurate.[2][3][4] As of April 2016, the franchise had generated $6 billion in revenue,[5] making it one of the highest-grossing media franchises of all time.
