Oho they starting up that Cheif dies at the end hype train now are they?
I'd actually be impressed if they stuck to their hype train and he did die off in some form.
Or this is the way I see it: at the end of H5 Chief disappears/is transported to another galaxy/meets with the remaining Forerunners and claims the mantle for humanity. Somehow everyone believes he's dead (again). H6 just as the Flood/Precursors comes back he returns with an army of something or fleet of something. Or maybe even not playing as him for half of the next game, and not even reveal him at all in marketing. Far fetched, I know. This thought just popped into my head for the next game: Chief walking alone in the ruins of a desolate Forerunner city on a planet that fell to the Flood a hundred thousand years earlier. No allies by your side. As you explore it, visions and memories of Forerunners fighting the Flood appear kind of like the Cortana moments from Halo 3. You discover the truth about something...ok now I'm just rambling.

The ad is probably meant to simulate ONI propaganda, this video's contents likely take place during the course of Halo 5's campaign; they're lying to the public and saying he's dead instead of explaining what's actually happened.
Chief obviously isn't going to die.
But the one detail is that the date thay said was 2560 not 2558 when we know Guardians takes place exactly 2 years just about to the day in fact, Is this just a mistake or are 343 hinting at something?
Maybe there's a time-skip in the game?
I don't think there is a time-skip in game, mostly because Cortana's ghost says in the mission Blue Team, "John, the Reclamation has begun. Meridian is next. You have three days." Also I doubt Locke and Osiris would be hunting Chief for two years. And if I had to guess we visit Meridian before Sanghelios.

No interest in TWD, but Valiant Hearts is a very good platformer in a WWI setting. I downloaded it when it came out. It is also very emotional about the cost of war and you can learn some WWI factoids from items you collect.
