It shouldn't have, but now I am bitter and alone because I thought it did. Last night I did not feel well. It's very twisted, but I thought because I had a degree and she didn't she would stick with me no matter how I treated her. Now I miss this girl. Basically alone and miserable. Could have had a busty blonde that would have been willing to give blowjobs every time she came over. Now she's blocked me after I've tried to repair things. Basically first I said I wanted a potential relationship, then after I got what I wanted I said we don't have enough in common for one. Then she started dating someone else and I said I'm open to being in one and couldn't make up my mind, and well she never wants to talk to me again. I'm alone and will take anyone I can get, and I purposely sabotaged things with her so I could have more time for Halo 5, which I'm already bored of. Crazy tinfoil hat theory that probably won't make a lot of sense: The Gravemind has been in control/corrupted Cortana since the end of Halo 2. Everything you have been doing has been for his endgame. Crippling the Ark so it can't produce anymore Halos, defeating the one Forerunner general who could confront what's left of the Flood with an army of newly composed Prometheans, (yes, I know Mendicant is the one who led Chief to Requiem, but for what purpose then? Maybe he wanted Didact gone too, or to set the Librarian's plans in motion). Also "Cortana" leading you to Genesis is giving you a false sense of security and manipulating you until the Gravemind can lock you and Blue Team away because you are it's greatest threat. The Guardians are weakening worlds and leaving them ripe for infestation. Imagine a planet that's been totally EMP'd, and an army of Flood just landed from a plagued ship...
Gravemind may have been reforming on the Halo in the legendary ending and "Cortana" is breaking him out of containment. Maybe Gravemind in Halo 2 promised Cortana a cure for rampancy and unlimited knowledge: You will ask and I will answer. Okay, shoot. What if I told you it was possible to cure an AI from inevitable degradation? Unlimited knowledge... If they are not "one" then perhaps they are working together simultaneously.
It's a really far shot, but what if Gravemind knew that one way to reach the Domain was through the Mantle's Approach?
Imagine how you'd feel as Chief. If the Cortana we knew is completely gone, then you'd feel manipulated by the Gravemind and feel like a pawn in his galactic game all along while it was pretending to be someone you trusted.
If it is still the Cortana, then we'd not only feel betrayed by our friend, but she's working with the evil parasite you once tried to destroy. Does anyone at least think this is an interesting concept even if it'd have a lot of plot holes?

Halo 6:
Blue Team + Guilty Spark (no idea how they would meet up, but whatever) who eventually leads them to Mendicant and a fleet of ancient Forerunner vessels capable of standing a chance against the Guardians. Blue Team goes to a desolate Forerunner planet with a keyship, then to the Ark.
Osiris + Exuberant Witness on the teased Halo ring. Maybe before that traveling to the Brute home world Doisac to gain their support and take down a Chieftain. Well, that would pretty much be the Sangheili civil war all over again...
Arbiter rallies a fleet composed of other species as well as SoS. The fleet is used to buy Blue Team enough time to get the keyship through the portal on Earth and distract Cortana's Guardian. Imagine ex-Covenant ships defending Earth instead of attacking it? (For this to work I have to imagine there are some worlds that have not been affected by Guardians and still have functioning ships) Somewhere Halsey fits into all of this, and the Flood is released among the chaos.

Can I actually get a new helmet from a REQ pack? The novelty of Helioskrill has worn off. I really think there should be other ways to unlock armor. For completing campaign on Legendary solo you don't get a thing.

So this is my idea for the next halo campaign. As blue team you must find a key ship to activate the portal to get to the ark. Mendicant is reaching out to you for a solution to cortana or a means to fight her like a fleet of forerunner ships. Halsey is able to find coordinates to a desolate world ravaged by an acient war against the flood which you explore as blue team looking for the key ship. They barely make it in time through the portal and past the guardian on earth. They have help from other allies that distract cortana. The ark would be cool to go back to.
As Locke and crew you explore the Halo cortana has her sights on and stop her from gaining control of it. She's actually trying to release the flood for some reason, probably that she's under control of grave mind. So there you go, humanity plus forerunner ai and constructs vs cortana human ai and the guardians. Also I wonder if any covie ai sided with her that would be interesting.

I really want to see Prometheans fighting Flood. Also imagine using the new Spartan abilities on Flood. They can be made more interesting and dynamic.

I know...this was supposed to be the darkest Halo yet, or so they said. I feel like I was given half a campaign, and nothing really happened. Halo 4 was brilliant, but 5's story is just so disjointed. I don't like the whole AI revolution, it doesn't feel very Halo to me.
It is the darkest in the sense that your hopes and dreams are dead.
Maybe the next game will be the darkest yet, literally. What tech actually works now? Guess there's going to be a galaxy wide blackout. Doesn't the Guardian's EMP disable everything? That's what the ending cutscene made it seem like.

Also, lets actually meet some living Forerunners, please. I know it would take away from the mysticism but come on. Flood needs to come back in the next game. What are we supposed to do, fight only Prometheans? Let me guess, yet another "Covenant" splinter group? The next game is a chance for 343i to re-introduce the Flood/Precursors. Why wpuld a covenant world have human defence platforms?
It's obviously Earth. It's just cities being shut down.
Ok, so why did Infinity jump back to Earth? Maybe they thought that was Cortana's most likely target? So many parallels to Halo 2, just like how everyone wondered how Arbiter and crew made it from Delta Halo to Earth so quickly. So a Guardian is floating above Earth now, great...that should be interesting in the next game.

One thing that doesn't make sense. At the end of the Blue Team mission Infinity control says they've already dispatched a team to Meridian to "handle" Cortana. How the fuck do they even know she's there? Unless they were lying and just said it literally after Chief said he's going there.
You do know why they got Halsey, right?
Yes...because she said Cortana was behind the attacks. But I don't think I heard anywhere how or why the UNSC thinks Cortana is on Meridian in the game. So after Chief said that's his destination, the UNSC must have learned that way.
