Ok, there are some faults. Like the current political situation not being explored, etc...but we didn't get another Phantom Menace. We got something better than all of the prequels, and a reason to be excited for Star Wars again and its future. You come out of the theater wanting more and wanting to know what happens. Think of how you felt after seeing that ending scene. Did it not give you hope for where the franchise could go and what's to come?

And how Maz came across Luke's saber, but it is an interesting story, for another time... "I don't have time to explain why I don't have time to explain." Except it would ruin the pacing of the movie if she did. Maybe a short story or comic down the line.

It is so damn good. You keep thinking about it days later. And we have no freakin' idea what will happen in the next one. That ending scene for those that haven't seen it; chills every time I saw it. Now I'm listening to the soundtrack, which at first I thought was underwhelming; it is more subtle than any other movie and I'm appreciating it more. "Rey's Theme" is the most memorable.

You have to wonder whether or not Harrison Ford made JJ kill Han off, or if it was part of the plan the entire time.
I mean, I understand the obvious parallel drawn between Han and Obi-Wan from ANH (both are father-figures for the main character, who see them both get cut down by the main antagonist with their own eyes), but it just strikes me as a bit rushed.
I guess the only way we'd know for sure is if Harrison makes an appearance in flashbacks or maybe the Boba Fett movie that's coming.
Ford didn't want it. It sounds like they're very very roughly following EU with some characters, so you'd think that if Ford was okay with doing more, he wouldn't die immediately upon return. I mean, it's possible that was the plan all along, but it sounds very unlikely.
The saddest part is that he will never share screen time with Luke again...and when Luke was mentioned he seemed angry at first. "Yeah, I knew him..."

-Where are the Y-Wing bombers, the fleets and other spacecraft? Sending one squadron of X-Wings to take on multiple star destroyers, wings of TIE fighters and a fucking planet thing seems way too much like putting all the eggs in one basket.
-Honestly, the film never really slows down to explain anything. Like how powerful the First Order and Republic are. I really hope them and the resistance aren't played out as rebels and empire 2.0 but I feel they are
yeah they were like "oh they shot down two of our x-wings, thats half our fleet" there was a "WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU MEAN HALF?" moment.

Am I the only one here? No Disney Land yet at 23, haven't been out west, no Grand Canyon, just NYC one day summer 2014. Washington DC for an eighth grade trip. Italy a few times growing up with the family. Maybe traveling is what I need to do? But by myself? My parents don't want to do anything, especially my mom, who is afraid to fly, and always makes excuses. We don't have family vacations anymore. I just feel like I haven't experienced enough.

Just some theories. Snoke was also a teacher at the academy Luke set up. The two had some kind of disagreement, Snoke creates the Knights of Ren. Or he was an undercover Sith all along. Or, he thinks what he is doing is actually bringing balance to the Force, there can't be balance unless there is a Dark Side to counter the Light; Sith to counter Jedi. Or not Sith at all, something new, or a new iteration of them.
Ben's first test was to kill Luke's wife ("even you, Master of the Knights of Ren, have never faced such a test"), assuming he had one, and all the other Jedi pupils. I think that when Luke puts his hand on R2 in the flashback, that's his wife's grave or funeral pyre, and the scene is right before he decides to leave everything behind.
Rey must be Luke's daughter, but he did not want her to be at the academy because he feared for her safety; Ben would have slaughtered her/Snoke turn her. She was dropped off at Jakku and watched over by Max Von Sydow's character. When the time is right Luke knew she would come to him. It has to be! No other way she could be so powerful.

Just realized they probably named Ben after Ben Kenobi... Beautiful movie, I've seen it twice already and going tomorrow. I have very minor complaints, like there being too much humor, if such a thing is possible. Also some things could have been explained more, and someone could have said hey, we just lost Coruscant. I think Snoke was a teacher at Luke's Jedi Academy. Maybe he and Luke had a disagreement of sorts, and Snoke formed the Knights of Ren. Hope to find out more about that next movie. I like how there's some mystery and plenty of back story to be filled.

Friend and his group I was supposed to see it with haven't gotten back, lol. That was expected. Luckily I bought a backup ticket at another theater, and it's three hours earlier. I'm going to leave in a few hours even though it's at 7. Seeing it alone...guess it's just my destiny. And i'd be able to enjoy it better anyways, and get a better seat.
