So, ISIS is practicing violence as if these were the middle ages.

I am sure that many people have an issue with their prime ministers, but this person has clearly gone koo-koo.

Septagon / Re: How much respect do you have for this community?
« on: February 21, 2015, 06:14:14 AM »
I respect everyone on this forum. I don't want to go with an "eye  for an eye" path where I regulate my respect based on my judgement of everyone's character. That would be quite toxic, nor I feel like playing favorites.

I think there's potential for DLC, and early access, but it's a potential only few people, studios and publishers can truthfully achieve without ending up to exploit the early adopters of such games. The truth is, the game industry is volatile, title ideas come, and go, and mostly are canceled.

Master Chief goes pew pew to aliens, but the evil nazi-like secret services think he's gone incoherent because he lost the closest thing to a human soul he had. So he goes into the desert and pick up fight with machines like him to cope with his depression. Meanwhile, there's this guy that is trying to piece together what on Earth happened to Master Chief, and it opens up a story similar to Where's Waldo, but with Master Chief.

I really treasure Metal Gear Solid 4 as a great game. I think it bridged a fair amount of action, with what you would expect from a Hollywood film. Some of the stages (such as the one where you run from the Raven PMC in Europe) are close to an experience that games should strive to provide.

However, despite those features, I do think it's subpar to Metal Gear Solid 3. The balance between story, action and dialogue was better achieved, and executed all around. Metal Gear Solid 4, just like Old Snake, is a tired story that is struggling to carry itself to a completion and slap a "The End" at a behemoth.

That is also why Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, and The Phantom Pain are drastic developments to achieve both the cinematic immersion, and action in the same experience whilst it upholds the values taken from Metal Gear Solid  3 and maybe from Metal Gear Solid when it comes to dialogues and the overall story.

Serious / Re: Which has caused more deaths: anti-vax or anti-nuclear?
« on: February 21, 2015, 06:03:32 AM »
I'd rather talk about cold fusion. Other nuclear reactor types have been proven unstable due to human errors, or unpredictable circumstances. However, cold fusion is still small, and mostly theoretical.

If there's any proof then bring it up to Amazon. (Which is what someone did in the first place anyway, so no need to be an angry mob with pitchforks around the fire)

I wonder when the time that gamers will be able to welcome new ideas without the act of being cynical in the first contact.
FYI

This Josh Henderson guy stole the story from some guy who started writing it 9 years ago, and is now selling it illegally on Amazon without the authors permission, while breaking Microsoft's Terms of Use.

The blurb I posted isn't even accurate of the story. There's no Spartans in it according to the author.

And that's what the government wants, but in a way that it also doesn't choke Greece to death at the same time. The objective is to have a growth and being able to pay the debt. Otherwise, who is going to pay for it without any money in the first place? Due to all the measures of the past few years, the middle class, and the industry mostly got decimated.

People can't simply keep paying forever in these conditions. The idea is to actually attempt some economical growth for the country and pay the debt based on that growth whilst fighting the inside corruption that was furthered by the previous governments.

And that absolutely shouldn't include an indefinite line of financial support to encourage more profligacy on the part of the Greek government. We are not going to be paying for future mistakes; fiscal austerity and economic restructuring are simply necessary.

Against such cynicism the new Greek government will innovate. We shall desist, whatever the consequences, from deals that are wrong for Greece and wrong for Europe. The “extend and pretend” game that began after Greece’s public debt became unserviceable in 2010 will end. No more loans — not until we have a credible plan for growing the economy in order to repay those loans, help the middle class get back on its feet and address the hideous humanitarian crisis. No more “reform” programs that target poor pensioners and family-owned pharmacies while leaving large-scale corruption untouched.

No, but the US is playing like it's cool. As if the Queen isn't planning the British takeover of the American colonies.

Just you wait. The ships of the line will eventually arrive.

Was this in reference to Australia, India, or Canada?
Because we never joined the Commonwealth.

It's normal that Brits are confusing. They confuse you, then send the redcoats, colonize, and then the colonial Brits get tired of being associated with other Brits in Britain and ask for independence and then join the commonwealth, or just play it cool as if it's water under the bridge.

I think he's doing the right thing. The previous government gave to one too many things whilst being very corrupt, almost being pushed around freely by other European powers. Instead, Greece has to make a stand, and actually work out a deal that is deemed fair even for Greece.

The trouble with game theory, as I used to tell my students, is that it takes for granted the players’ motives. In poker or blackjack this assumption is unproblematic. But in the current deliberations between our European partners and Greece’s new government, the whole point is to forge new motives. To fashion a fresh mind-set that transcends national divides, dissolves the creditor-debtor distinction in favor of a pan-European perspective, and places the common European good above petty politics, dogma that proves toxic if universalized, and an us-versus-them mind-set.

I like how background customization looks, but compared to all the elements the titlebar is too distracting.

Trying out Solonoid's script.

Although, it lags a bit on my laptop. so no cool script for me. ;_;

I sort-of like how the layout looks. The style itself seems to work, but on the other hand, I can easily spot the imperfections that haunt me. (That are in line to get adjusted along with mobile)
