So... Skill is an issue? Were you able to go with the learning curve, or you just gave up and started complaining about the BR without achieving the learning curve Halo 3 had?
Halo 3 it takes more skill to use it 1803

Septagon / Re: Sep7agon_V2 > Project Thread« on: October 11, 2014, 05:07:54 PM »
Nope, as it's dynamic and will adapt the space and font-size of the links accordingly.
That would create a bit of space between the forums and the search bar tho 1808
Septagon / Re: Sep7agon_V2 > Project Thread« on: October 11, 2014, 05:07:00 PM »
Yeah, that's pretty much why I put the link. The point is that new links can be added and removed, and their font size, spacing et cetera will adapt to the circumstances. (Especially useful for staff during anarchy, where there are at least two extra forum options)
That said, a countdown to anarchy is not that much of a horrible idea, but it's not something that is important to implement, but I plan to make forum events such as Anarchy more noticeable where it is right for them to be. So for Anarchy would it just have a countdown to the next eventReasonably sure it's just there to show that there's room for it when it appears. It'll disappear like it always does when it isn't active. 1809

I am also working on the main page. As I say in the OP, the objective is to shift it to focus on the community. I'll show later on the changes on the main page that will cover community-driven content better, and then the profile page. I am showing off the top bar because I think it's a focal point, and also based on the suggested changes in style. (I also don't feel like sharing my sketches, the one in the OP had to be heavily edited to look cool in that picture)
And back to the design. Obviously it hasn't been covered yet, because Isara has been showing off the top navigation, but I plan on doing some facelifts to the index as well. I'd like to change the way articles are displayed and clean up the forum list. Anyway, sure. I agree. Here's the same thing, but red. User Notification (Red) No...it needs to be red. With the dark colors of the theme and the general use of blue everywhere (which is still awesome), alerts and notifications need to be eye-catching. Red is very good for this purpose. 1810
Septagon / Re: Sep7agon_V2 > Project Thread« on: October 11, 2014, 04:49:14 PM »
Actually, I was thinking of adding some sort of "!" small circle at one of the sides of the avatar, to indulge the user to click on it, and inspect the drop down. That one would disappear as soon they checked what changed. (Similar to what happens with alerts right now, but a little bit more generic as it checks both PMs and alerts, which might be a hassle to code in, but I am willing to tackle it) I went with blue because red was too bright compared to the neighbor colors.
User Notification An issue I see with the hidden messages, alerts, and settings under the avatar is that it would be difficult to see when you have one of them. What if when you got an alert a tiny red circle appeared in the corner of your avatar. Like what the apps do on iOS to indicate you have a notification. 1811

Alright, so I have made the second version of the top bar based on the criticism. You can see both the "default" sized one, and the smaller one along with some explanations.

Septagon / Re: Coup and Ads« on: October 11, 2014, 03:11:31 PM »
It's work for later, at least for me. Post-December release. Which I will talk about in the following weeks.
In that case I probably wouldn't mind. Just seems like an unnecessarily huge amount of work though. The background is fine the way it is, nice and uniform for all. I doubt anyone would make a big deal about wanting their own colored background. 1813
Septagon / Re: Coup and Ads« on: October 11, 2014, 03:06:45 PM »
Well... Yeah, I guess. That kind of limited customization is still possible, though.
I don't think that's what anyone thinks of when talking about custom backgrounds though. Back in the days of Coup it meant being able to include a picture, for example. 1814
Septagon / Re: Coup and Ads« on: October 11, 2014, 03:02:35 PM »
Well, basically it would be by presenting a set list of colors and background patterns to choose from, that were tested earlier to fit with the overall design and possible mismatching color choices for the text. Something like the current title bar system, but applied to post backgrounds, a little bit more advanced. (Which means loads of work both in design and implementation)
I have my doubts about that. The original Coup tried to do the same yet in the end the forum still turned into a cacaphony of chaotic messes, conflicting colors and a ton of anime pictures everywhere. I can't really imagine how you couuld people the freedom to do that without having the forum turned into a chaotic mess. 1815
Septagon / Re: Coup and Ads« on: October 11, 2014, 02:56:41 PM »
I would compromise with background-based ads. Since usually those ones look better, especially if they are gaming-related. Yet a standalone image on the right or left is too much breaking. If we honestly need more ads that badly then how about adding them in-between every few posts?
Surely you can compromise. One ad on the side isn't much and like I said previously, it would help the site. There might be ways to make background change possible whilst it fits with the design without effectively breaking it. I am not going to personally investigate on this right now, though. No to the side bar ads, indifferent to Coup. As long as people aren't able to edit the background of their posts, that is. 1816
Septagon / Re: Coup and Ads« on: October 11, 2014, 02:51:48 PM »
I do care if both sides have an ads at all post pages. Not only it can be distracting, but also breaks the design when the ad itself has too much contrast with the colors. The idea would be to have neutral colors to deny that effect, but at the same time doing that it would make the background quite bland.
Who cares about side ads. As long as they don't scroll with the screen, they can make more money for the site. 1817

This one. I wanted to show some of my sketches for the website, and at the same time have something more engaging to show to threads where I share my progress. My lines suck, though, especially when I don't have a ruler at hand (couldn't find it) so I needed to make it look somewhat cool.

Obviously, as I said, I am being based on Bungie.old's and things the community likes, and finds favorable. I am not like trying to change what people want, but to deliver something better within those expectations. Hence why I made that thread public. (So when I show my work, people can scream at me telling me that's not what they want) I thought it was clear, though.
BTW, the majority of the thread view layout is pretty much non-negotiable (user bars, sigs, avatar placement, etc.). 1820
Septagon / Re: Coup and Ads« on: October 11, 2014, 02:03:52 PM »
The whole set of coup features can be made to work with what I am working on.
On the other hand, the images on the left and right, in the future implementations will kill the aesthetics. I expect some kind of background ads that might take the dead area effectively, but a image ads on the left and right outright kill the design itself. 1821
