The Flood / Re: anyone remember this noise

That takes me back.

That was back when www.dragonballz.com was my homepage and it had links via one of the seven dragon balls in a curved pattern.

Damn that was so long ago.

You would be into incubuses....

Having sex with an incubus would be better.

I used PoF and OKC. For whatever reason I don't have the motivation to stay on them. About five months ago I left two people on OKC mid-conversation.

Serious / Re: Security vs Privacy

Privacy, because if I lose the things personal to me, I risk losing myself. At that point I may as well be dead.

Not absolutely. The question is whether or not it is legitimate to sacrifice some privacy which is legitimately getting in the way of implementing genuinely security-enhancing measures.

For the purpose of this discussion, there is conflict between the two. In an actual trade-off, which would you choose?

Reminder: Morals aren't set in stone. A person can have a completely warped view of a subject and call it a moral.

And the security we have now is a complete contradiction to this.

Presumably it's actions taken by a government which legitimately result in significantly less tension, unease or discord in society presented either by domestic or international threats.

If it's solely on principles I'd still say privacy. Because security comes naturally from your precautions for privacy.

Quote
Because we're discussing principles. If you're saying "I prefer privacy because I don't trust the government", then fine. But what you're actually saying is not a commentary on the relative value of either privacy or security, because I imagine you feel less secure precisely because your privacy is being violated. It's entirely possible to live in a world where security and privacy are perfectly correlated, as the only threat individuals face is a tyrannical State.

You don't need some over reaching force to protect your personal idea of "what matters". And others don't necessarily agree with you, specifically the courts which have struck down over surveillance before (they're just going to do it anyways because the branch in charge of enforcing the courts decision is the one causing the problems).

Security is to protect your identity, your wallet, and/or your life. Things that matter.

Privacy is to protect your name, your reputation, and/or your social anxiety. Things that don't necessarily matter at all.

Yeah, I read that before. Sucks for you that the butchered meaning still holds merit.

“Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety”

Define "Security" for me. How can I trust this "Security"? Why is one of my Constitutional rights (provided the assumption we're talking about the issue in the US) no longer valid over some ambiguous term used by a government that is allowed to have its own privacy?

I'll never understand this logic. People these days bitch and moan about their government, but continuously give more power to it, just hoping that the "wrong people" stay out it. That's fucking asinine. You wouldn't have to worry about the "wrong people" having power over you if the position didn't have such power in the first place. When you trade your fundamental rights for "Security" a vague term with an arbitrary meaning, you lose both.

The Flood / Two year work anniversary
« on: April 12, 2016, 12:06:47 PM »

It's amazing what can happen in such a small amount of time. Two years ago I never had a job, took Gen Ed classes part time, and my brother who was the biggest constant in my life, disappeared for three years. I was extremely miserable and was probably at my lowest point. If I were to go back in time and tell my past self who I was now and where I'd be in a mere two years, past me would probably get angry and not believe it.

Mistakes were made along the way in the career path. Running away from advancement opportunities, losing possible friendships from my own arrogance, turned down experiences that would help learn things about myself that I ended up learning the hard way later. However, with these I was able to learn what I did wrong and how I can avoid making these mistakes again in the future.

And while I may be in a state of unknowing with certain problems now, every cloud has a silver lining and it looks like things are finally turning around since I graduated high school. Truth be told this job is possibly the best thing that's ever happened to me.

I have to agree with what others say, even the local gas stations near me offer fruits at the same price or lower than bags of Cheetos and Slim Jims. This is all on the individual and their purchasing habits when grocery shopping. I'm not an angel with my diet, I eat more junk food than everyone else in this thread combined, but I'm not a dumbass about my weight either.

Food deserts?

Sucks now that he wont be able to go to the grocery store anymore without being yelled at or stared at by people who know who he is. It doesn't matter if someone even half-famous is proven innocent from a rape allegation, they're going to be condemned for it anyways.

There's a misconception with Walt's body. It's not just his frozen head, but his entire living body is in cryosleep inside the top of the geodesic sphere in Epcot. Only the highest echelon of Disney corporate drones may view his presence.

So a few questions.

Did you go to high school?
Is English your first language?
Has didney brainwashed you to be thick and thereby unquestioning when you see Walt's frozen head, or is that just a result of too many memory wipes?

I'm only asking on Chinese tonight because I don't want to cook.

You can the Chinese food and be sad when you don't have the mount later, or you can get the mount and be sad that you don't have Chinese food tonight.

It's whatever you wanna do.

« on: April 12, 2016, 09:16:32 AM »
What should I blow 20 bucks on tonight since I wont be buying anything else until my paycheck for the week comes in.

Chinese is delicious and I get a lot for about 18 dollars, but it's only temporary and the service is kinda rude.

Bennu Mount is bad ass looking and plays From The Ashes (T12 battle theme) when riding it, but it's 24 dollars instead.

Pick for me Flood.

Bennu Mount pick for reference:

That's still not good fam....

I usually take a handful of ibuprofen and cry into a pillow for an hour. Thankfully it only gets that bad once a month, the other few days it just kind of feels like a bad pressure behind my eyes.

Do you have anything for it? I saw a video of a guy who needed an oxygen tank to calm his down.

Ye, the worst part is that they always hit in full force right when I try to go to sleep. It's only the ghost of a headache until then.
