New Battlestation Due to an emergency situation, I immediately moved out of my apartment and moved back in with family. I will continue to stay here until a new opportunity presents itself, but I will not be moving in with strangers moving forward regardless of recommendations. On the upside, I have a much larger space right now, and my GIRLFRIEND helped me put a new desk together, it even has a hutch which I was quick to decorate with. Pics below:

Honestly I kind of wish Cheat would just pull the plug. The idea of a meta community like this is nice but even back when it was “active” it feels way too small and isolating of a community. Looking at the 40 series cards, I must retract my earlier statement. The 4090 is literally the only good Ada Lovelace card and it costs as much as an old beater car.
Fuck Nvidia. Someone needs to tell Leather Jacket man no one is mining Ethereum anymore and Moore's Law isn't dead with Intel prepping 2nm processors.

My two copies of 3.0+1.11 came in finally. Unlike the previous three films, Shin Eva had different exclusives depending on which online store you ordered from. Because I was a sucker for two different exclusives, I ordered both of them since CDJapan acted as a proxy-service for getting them since they don't normally ship outside Japan. Evastore version: - Movie BD/4k-UHD 3 disc set - Avant 1/2/A-Part script with notes by Anno himself - Postcard set featuring primary characters (Shinji w/ Misato, Kaworu, Mari, Rei, & Asuka) Kinkurido version: - Movie BD/4k-UHD 3 disc set - Rei Ayanami acrylic art stand - 3.0+1.0 OST (movie edited version, not the fully arranged collection released a few years ago) As for the 10 minute short: Spoiler IT WAS FUCKING NOTHING.
Flashback dedicated to Midori and how she got her pink hair (a Failure of Infinity bled some weird acid goo on her head) with a short haired blindfolded Asuka fighting said Failure with a Frankenstein Unit 02. There were very short cuts of the planet getting fucking tanged and Third Impact going all out (and a Failure of Infinity coming out of the ground with an Eva 01 head falling off confirming Unit 01 is more involved with Third Impact) but it only lasts for a about a minute or two.

20 series cards are trapped in some bizarro world for some reason; I think it’s partially also due to their supply also being very low since we’re now in the 40 series. With that being said the 30 series isn’t much better; the 3060 and its Ti counterpart are really the only “good” deal and I use parentheses because they’re still above MSRP.
The next bargain card that’s currently out is the 4070 Ti which is way overkill for 1080p.

You can get a Gigabyte 3060 on Amazon right now for $400 and it’ll come with 12GB of VRAM. I tried looking into 20 series cards with similar specs yet those all have some crazy ass VRAM tax in them and are well into the $1k prices which is absolutely bizarre to me. EDIT: Gigabyte has an RTX 3060 Ti on Amazon for $430 right now. I only have a 1660. Don't know if I should replace it with the same or get an upgrade. Got about 500 bucks I could spend on one.

If only you had i9 instead of i7 which would have matched nicely with your RTX 30 series. Do I really need an i9 though? My build is absolutely crushing everything I am throwing at it without breaking any kind of sweat. If anything the only "restriction" I have for 1080p gaming is my vram for Halo Infinite but I'm still able to get half my settings at Ultra/max with the rest at high. If I am going to upgrade later down the line it'd probably be to a higher 30 series card or a 4060/ti depending on the specs. Also I just downloaded Stable Diffusion; I SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN GIVEN THIS POWER.

It's admittedly a piece of legacy hardware but when I built Avalon in 2016 I still had some old CDs I hadn't burned to iTunes yet, but now that I have those files saved locally I really have no use for the disk drive. It's not even connected to the motherboard; just decoration now. It was a BD drive too but the software that came with it never worked. haven’t seen a disc drive in a while

I haven't touched any of my internal PC components since I built the monstrosity that's currently on my desk SEVEN years ago. In Ian-years that is a very long lifespan for tech hardware. However the storage is starting to become limited, the fans are failing, and the GPU (while being considered high-end at the beginning of 2016) is now incredibly dated and laughably bad by today's standards.
As such I have have taken my tax return that would've just gone into an index fund, and used it instead to completely rebuild the computer with all new internal parts. I am keeping my mouse, keyboard, monitors, and case because there is nothing wrong with any of them and Corsair still doesn't make a mid-tower version of my Corsair 760T and I am very in love with this case design. Below is a list of what I currently have inside compared to what I am waiting to come in the mail.
