I'd like to emphasize that this would be my first time using Unreal and my first time attempting to make a fighting game.

I think a traditional 2D fighting game is a project better suited for something I'm more comfortable/knowledgeable in (my own engine, Unity, etc...).  I can certainly try to make something, but fighting games that don't play like complete garbage are a staggering amount of work (especially for one programmer), and I intend for my first project to be pretty janky.  Can't promise how far I'll get with that idea, though.

I think we need to start with a basic and entertaining mechanic and branch out.  It shouldn't be so simple that it utilizes none of Unreal's features, but at the same time, you're going to be disappointed if you expect one person to make Smash Bros in such a limited amount of time.  Think game-jam ideas.

Hmmm.

So I want to use this to learn a decent bit of Unreal basics.  If it's too simplified in a technical stance, I'm not getting anything out of it and it'd make more sense for me to write my own simple game engine.  Definitely so with the dating sim, which I'd probably be too hot & bothered to get any work done anyways.

Since I'm not a great artist (and don't want to use this time to be making 3D art anyways) expect a lot of temp assets unless the project goes anywhere and either someone wants to make free stuff or I find time somewhere.  I'll leave the project files out for anyone that wants them.

Turn-based RPG would be pretty in-scope, but I think I'd be wasting a lot of time writing all the different game states and stuff.  What if I just took the isometric overworld and made the combat real-time?  I could also work with the hunger games theme, but I didn't really follow that meme when it was going on.

I've never made a fighting game before, but they're definitely one of the most tedious genres to make, what with how exact all the hit boxes and frames need to be. I wouldn't have a problem trying, but it'd probably be unbalanced as fuck, and wouldn't have characters unless I can find someone willing to do animation for free.

Definitely try to keep ideas low in scope, considering the time and lack of resources for the time being.

So I'm going to be spending a few days learning about how the Unreal engine works.  Thought I could use the opportunity to program an incredibly stupid game with the community.

Note that I'm not going to have as much time when my semester starts, and I'm not a talented 3D artist.

Would that interest any of you, though?  If so, post suggestions.

Assassination speed to 10% because true players just press B, not hold it.
True players use Bumper Jumper, you thumbless shitstain.  I bet you used Armor Lock.

JulioNIB created this mod for GTA V PC, which adds the Watch_Dogs mechanics to it.  It's pretty impressive.

Here's the download.

Got it on Christmas.  It's actually not that bad: it can be awkwardly fast at times, but overall better than the last few games, and actually a notable change to the series.  Still not a game I'd take seriously, though.

Also, fucking god damn that 15 second taunt-period.  That's probably the lamest thing I've ever seen in a shooter.

COD has the best multiplayer FPS gameplay out there
lol

What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you traitorous scum? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class in the First Order’s elite division, I have been involved in numerous secret raids on The Resistance, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I’m the top batonsman in the entire First Order. You are nothing to me but just another traitor. I will wipe you the fuck out with such sick spins the likes of which has never been seen before in this Galaxy, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Holonet? Think again, traitor. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the galaxy and your position is being traced right now, so you better prepare for the storm, scum. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You’re fucking dead, traitor. I can be anywhere, anytime and I can kill you in over 700 ways, and that’s just with my sick spins. Not only am I extensivley trained in spin combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the First Order and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable system out of the galaxy, you traitor scum. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your “clever” betrayal was about to bring down on you, maybe you would have left that Rebel Pilot to be tortured. But you couldn’t, you didn’t and now you’re paying the price, you goddamn resistance scum. I will shit fury and you will drown in it. You’re fucking dead, traitor.

Warzone is pretty garbage when people play it the way it's intended to be played: when people pull REQs out their ass every chance they get.  Thankfully, I can successfully play most matches without feeling the need to purchase a single power weapon.

This is the best Halo multiplayer since 3, though.  It's got an awkward initial learning curve, but I think it does a pretty good job at catering towards both casual and competitive players.  I think the game is fairly approachable by thumbless kids, but still has good underlying competitive mechanics and a well-established skill gap.  It's not slow as dirt and horribly balanced like Reach, and isn't a garbage CoD clone like Halo 4.

While the customs need more to them, the forge is so ridiculously amazing: the fact that you can forge an empty space canvas into a Sandtrap replica is ridiculous.  While it's frustrating to see a ton of content come with CUs, it's pretty awesome how obvious it is that they've been listening to every inch of the community over the smallest details.

The only good gaming laptop I've seen so far is my roommate's, which cost around $2500.  It still turns into a miniature sun while playing just about anything, needs to be constantly plugged into something, and runs as well as a $1200 desktop.

Save your money and build a micro-atx + use a controller or something.
