The Flood / Re: Teetotalitarianism (Alcohol survey)
« on: February 17, 2015, 01:49:13 PM »
Gonna go right to the fallacy list:
-Personal Incredulity:  This is more one that you use frequently.  You argue things that you have almost no personal experience or base knowledge on.  Nothing wrong with your personal choice towards alcohol, but you've blown the experience and negative health effects, towards certain people, so far out of proportion.  Same goes many other arguments that you have firm stances in.  You argue things with people who have a much more firm understanding in the subject (take the PC arguments you always start).
-Argument from Ignorance:  You assume that your opinion is fact because you have yet to proven wrong by anything that we have said to you.  Your entire arguments are based around your personal opinion being treated as fact, and differing opinions have to breach your own wall of ignorance before being treated as facts that are viable in the argument.
-Fallacy Fallacy:  Just because you tried to topple my specific analogies thrown at you, that doesn't make the point that I'm trying to convey objectively false, which you acknowledge in your most recent post.

Quote
Indeed. So why can't I criticize you cunts for drinking alcohol?

You shouldn't criticize someone for every time that they eat a slice of pizza.  You should criticize someone when they get fat from eating too much pizza, and it negatively impacts a huge part of their life.  It's cool if you don't personally like pizza, or can't find a way to balance it on top the rest of your life, but some people can.  Same goes with alcohol.

The three main arguments (eating, forum time, and job) were just 3 examples (that'd seem pretty relatable) of people who shoot themselves in the foot, knowingly, for their own (often times immediate) gratification.  You're not human if you never go through the process of making decisions based upon balancing pros and cons, hence justifying SOME PEOPLE'S decision to drink alcohol, because they can manage fine, where others cannot.

Also, why do your arguments always devolve to "...nope.  I win", followed by some way of justifying your attitude/argument, since other people do it?  It's in a "well they're always making fun of me, so why can't I?" kind of deal.  I think you have some personal issues to figure out.

Also this place is great and all, but tell me about all the good things Sep7agon has done for your mind, body, and spirit.  Tell me about all the things you've learned from sifting through shitposts about foxes, dicks, and dank memes, that couldn't possibly be spent somewhere more productive.

I don't eat junk food.
I don't eat greasy food.
I don't eat fast food.
I only eat foods with the utmost health benefits (that I can afford).
I never impair myself.
If I ever have to, I'm NEVER excited to.

0/6 correct. You failed.
I have an incredibly hard time believing that you eat the 100% perfect blend of foods available for your body at ALL times, and NEVER eat leisurely.  I have a hard time believing that you have anywhere near a 100% perfect healthy body.  Point I'm making is that physical health is something that always has room for improvement, and with your logic, people should be criticized for not being focused around constant physical improvement.

I shouldn't have to explain how the Internet >>>>>>> getting drunk. So I won't.

No, you should, since you're glued to this place.  In the short time that this forum has been around, and the shorter time that you've been a member of it, you've amassed over 5,000 posts.  You're delusional if you think that you haven't sunk a considerable amount of time into this place, and even more so, if you think there isn't something better you could have been doing with that time.  Fact is, you actively choose to do something that isn't beneficial, for your own satisfaction.

Just because there are better career paths doesn't mean I'm capable of following them. I picked the best possible one for who I am. So again--you lose.

I didn't say the best for who you are.  I said the best.  Why are you spending your time on internet forums, when you should be actively working towards the best?  Scum.
Realtalk, though, if you chose your career disregarding happiness or intrigue, then you're an idiot.

There is always room to criticize some habit or decision that someone makes for being harmful to them.  If you think you're the exception from that, then you're retarded.  Wasn't playing on the fact that you're being a hypocrite, but rather on the fact that no one is free from the idea of actively harming themselves.

In britbongistan, they have Public School, and State School.
Wherein the US we call ours Public/Private, they just seem to refer to the Private sector as the Public Sector.

I think syntax-wise, it'd make the most sense to blend the two: private school is owned by private entities, and state school is the government-run session.

Only other thing in Murica that doesn't make much sense to everyone else is that College and University are essentially the same thing.  You go to college at the University of Massachusetts or Amherst College, or Massachusetts Institute of Technology, to get your Bachelors/Masters/Ph.D.

(Based on what you guys are saying) college to you is technical school to us, which, where I'm from, often overlaps high school, but not always.

someone humor me
what is the appeal of making yourself dysfunctional

What's the appeal of eating (insert any kind of junk food, greasy food, fast food, or any food without the utmost health benefits here)?  Don't you know you're impairing yourself?  You were excited to eat that food?  Wow, you're the worst kind of scum.

What's the appeal of spending so much time on an internet forum?  Don't you know that you're impairing yourself, since you could be using your time doing something productive, or better for your body?

What's the appeal of (insert whatever career path you're going in, if any)?  Don't you know you're impairing yourself and your future, since you could be doing (some better career path) to be much better off?  You're happy doing (insert whatever career path you're going in, if any)?  Wow, you're scum.

It's fun.  You're not flawless.

In high school, Freshman-Senior years are also just called 9th-12th grade, and are normally written that way on official paperwork.
The only reason why I could possibly think they're not called years is because plenty of kids get held back, so they're not really considered years of schooling, but rather milestones.

Also, what's your definition of public school?

I normally drink around how much work I have, and what my roommates and friends are up to.  I'm normally pretty busy all day Monday-Thursday, so we get a night or two on the weekend where everyone gathers in my living room to play some Xbox and have a mini-party.

Be careful when installing large texture packs.  The Gamebryo engine doesn't like to load a lot of things and when it sees large texture packs it usually goes "lolnope" and crashes.

Your best bet to get good looking textures is to download NMC's medium texture pack, install it, then install Poco Bueno on top of it (overwrite NMC files).  That's what I have in my game.

I did NMC's large and DL'd the mod that allocates 4GB of RAM to the game, and everything runs fine so far.  Honestly, I think I like the original textures better though, because the ground is all saturated with NMC, and doesn't look nearly as bleak.

That's just the lighting.  I'm installing ~9GB of hi-res textures right now, as well.

Also I've never fully gotten through New Vegas.  Played the hell out of 3, but I didn't find the Mojave environment very exciting, so I only got to a part where I met the shooter in a casino.  I'm ready to give it a second chance, though.  Any tips for a noob?

Ummm
-Division 1 in pretty much everything I play as in BF4 (skill, score/minute, K/D, medic, revives, etc...)
-Got an H3 50 on an alt in doubles (kinda cheap)
-Got a 50 in H4 lolCSR in 6 games
-Got Semi Pro in H5 Strongholds right out of placement, plus I had over a 3.0 KD and 11 KDA
-I was pretty rich in Runescape before I quit.  Then all my stuff dropped in value when I checked in a year later.

I'm not taking pictures, but I have some of the crazy moments I've had in H3 and Reach recorded:

It's one thing to take a classic franchise and re-invent it, build on it. And it's another to take the original and do totally new things and freshen it up (see Mighty No9 for example), but it's not exactly promising that they have chosen to use those awful graphics. That doesn't scream innovation or something new, but it does appeal to nostalgia, and trying to reboot or make a reinvented successor based of nostalgia can never end well

For just a few leaves, I think the graphics look great.
Also, platformers similar to Rare's old ones (Banjo Kazooie, DK64, etc...) are pretty rare (no pun intended) nowadays.  I'd say it has potential to revive a now-underrated subgenre more so than ride on some old fanboy nostalgia.
