I agree with this thread. There definitely needs to be a crackdown on bad behavior in Serious. A snide comment every now and then is fine, but constant insults and just being an all-around cunt is not.

and you can neither prove nor disprove a philosophy
Well that's evidently false.
How so? You can debate it, but you still can't prove it.

4954
When somebody is actually intelligent and knows that religion is a joke and that god is not real, and somebody calls them "edgy" or says something equally retarded like that, they are actually just trolling, right?
The reality is that Atheists are about as ignorant as fundies. You are not intelligent, you are just regurgitating some rhetoric from Dawkins. Just as the fundies regurgitate from the Bible. Agnosticism is the only "intelligent" belief.
>Dawkins

I didn't even know who that guy was until a few months ago and I've been atheist my entire life. What about people in Asia who are atheist? They all blindly follow some random British dude too?

This is one the stupidest arguments I've ever heard. So people weren't atheist before Dawkins? How can you such incredibly retarded things and manage to figure out how to use a computer to say them? I'm genuinely interested.
I used Dawkins as an example because Dawkins is like Jesus for edgy neckbeards. Buddhists are Existentialists. Existentialism =/= Atheism. Either way, my point still stands. Agnosticism is the only intelligent belief.
Oh, I almost forgot. You think because people aren't part of a death cult they're "edgy neckbeards".

When I say atheist, I mean atheist, genius. I'm not talking about Buddhists. I'm talking about (pay attention here it comes) atheists (people who have no religion and don't believe in a deity) in Asia. Are they all edgy neckbeards who blindly follow Dawkins too? Please, show me statistics to back up this claim. I'm dying to see the logic behind your post. You're a real smart guy, I can tell.

Either way, your point is your opinion. There's nothing intelligent about giving a fairy tale the benefit of the doubt. Would you like to prove how Santa doesn't exist? Because I saw him last Christmas and he gave me a present. Have any proof he didn't? I've been to his place in the North Pole. Oh, and if you haven't seen it it's because only true believers can see it. He works in mysterious ways (2spooky).

First off, lose the attitude. I don't do flame wars. Secondly, you can strawman all you want but you're still not going to disprove my point, as it is purely philosophical, and you can neither prove nor disprove a philosophy. My point still stands.

No mac version, so I didn't pick up the game yet. Also certain veteran players have expressed ample negative feedback about its features, gameplay and UI.
Veterans get butthurt about everything unless it's an exact copy of a game from 10 years ago... What else is new?

Did anybody else get this game?

I'm on my first game still but so far it's been pretty awesome.

I really like the new quest system, and the affinities are badass. I played as Africa and me and my greatest ally, Brazil became Purity bros and went on a crusade of alien extermination. We then launched a joint invasion of our dickhead Supremacy neighbor, America, because they were being expansionist twats. Then they got attacked by a siege worm because America was stupid and didn't keep their aliens in check.

Overall it's been a really fun game so far.

What is the most powerful gun you have found thusfar?

For me, this gun is completely overpowered and ridiculous. It oneshots basically everything, and even does serious damage to the raid boss. I fucking love it!

So what is your best weapon? If you can't post a screenshot, post the stats.

Do a Sci-Fi with strong medieval overtones. Think Deus Ex or W40K.

Or do a realistic medieval open world game. Like Mount & Blade done in the style of TES. That would be amazing.

Or do a medieval game that takes place in a setting OTHER THAN Europe. An open-worlded game set in Mongolia during the rise of Genghis Khan would be amazing. If Morrowind is to be believed, the more alien the setting, the better the game will be.

Serious / Solipsism is objectively the best philosophy.
« on: October 14, 2014, 11:31:04 PM »
Why? Because it gives you the justification to treat everyone like shit and philosophically get away with it! Who gives a shit about what other "people" think? They're just a bunch of fracking figments! Clearly the Solipsist is the only person, so the world is his oyster and the figgies his mere playthings! I imagine it must be hard for a Solipsist not to develop megalomania. All those things you can do, unbound by morals or ethics. A Solipsist can philosophically get away with whatever the fuck he wants!

Prove me wrong.

Discuss.

I'm not arguing in circles. I'm trying to figure out why you think it's okay to dismiss the Bible as outdated, but not God.

Why does it matter?
As I said to you last time, I'm trying to understand what other people believe.

Its pointless.
Trying to understand what other people think is pointless?

That explains a lot about you.
Because it truly is pointless. No human can ever truly know what goes on in the mind of another. Repeatedly interrogating a person's beliefs is not going to magically make them agree with you and tell you what you want to hear.

All stuff that can be considered outdated, and can be ignored or translated to modern times.
In that case I think we should advance the belief in God as outdated.
Edgy.
Why is the content of the Bible outdated, but not God?
It is outdated if you want it to be. So is the existence of god, as his existence is open to interpretation. I called him edgy, because I am of the opinion that militant atheists are annoying. Just as I am annoyed by religious fundies.

Why argue in circles?

Because it could be interpreted that way. It was just an example.

How is it militant to suggest God is an outdated idea?

I don't give a shit if people want to believe in some sort of intelligent Creator, so long as they don't base legislation off the back of it, or blow themselves up in the hopes of reaching paradise.
Because I mistook the "advance" line as something a militant atheist would say.

Yes it does.

Christians follow the Bible, and Genesis clearly states that God created humans.

The Bible says a lot of things doesn't mean we follow it 100%.
Believing God created humans is a pretty big part of it all. If God didn't create humans, did he even create animals? Plants? Planet Earth? The universe?

Are we picking and choosing what he created?

Yep some christians do pick and choose what he created.
Why? If you have the option to pick and choose what to believe from the Bible, why follow it at all?

I shouldn't try to understand the beliefs of the people I share this world with?
The Bible is a piece of literature and thus is open to interpretation. Anything can be taken as metaphor. While one person can take it literally, another can meld it to fit their own personal beliefs. It is a guideline, not a code of law.
There's parts of the Bible that aren't open to interpretation. Like the existence of God. Or Jesus is the son of God. Are those metaphors, too?
The existence of god can be interpreted as the Jewish god that just doesn't give a shit, and Jesus being the son of god can easily be taken as metaphor.
So if the whole thing is a metaphor, why even bother with it?
Because it's a piece of literature and guideline for a philosophy, not a hard code of law.

That's funny considering the fact that it prescribes some pretty specific punishments for pretty specific crimes.

I'm up for whatever, given I feel like playing.

I don't get weapons though, they're super expensive and I don't know how to tell if they're better or worse. Ends up giving me a P2W vibe.
Most of the weapons are sidegrades rather than straight upgrades. The default weapons are some of the best and most well-rounded weapons in the game, and the cheap, 100 and 250 cert weapons are also extremely good. On my VS character I was using only the default Assault Rifle and absolutely dominating with it. The only thing I invested in it was 5 certs for a 2x sight. The only weapons worth purchasing with SC are NS weapons, as purchasing one will unlock it account wide, so you can use it across all factions, servers, and characters.

Tanks and aircraft are the only thing that is straight up unfair to low levels, as they can be very expensive to cert into, but they are pretty easy to take down.

Also, if you want to figure out if you should buy a weapon or not, you can either trial it for free, test it out in VR training, or watch some of these weapon reviews before you buy. I strongly recommend all newbies watch this channel.
