Just got this game for PS4 because I got sick of waiting for the PC version to come out. In the older MH games I was an SnS and gunlance kind of guy with a touch of greatsword as well, but in World I find myself liking dual swords the most. Maybe I'll give hammer a try. I hated that shit in Monster Hunter Freedom but now that I've gotten used to the whole not being able to block thing I can probably make good use of it.

My area got fucked hard. 90mph winds, 20ft high waves because of astronomical high tides, flooding and downed trees everywhere, and at least 200k people without power. My neighborhood lost power for a good 20 hours or so, but we were pretty lucky all things considered. Parts of my town probably won't get power back for 3-4 days or so. Can't imagine what it must be like for them. So did anybody else on this board get ravaged by Friday's storm?

The mechanics in the game that are meant to be more immersive and realistic quickly become annoying. There's nothing innovative about NPCs leaving a spot during a quest because you failed to show up at the time right time(I'm sorry I found something interesting in the distance) most of the time it doesn't even change the course of the game you just get a cutscene where the NPC you were dealing with seems annoyed and that's that. Muh immersion
Archery is a load of bs too. I had to change the DPI on my mouse to the lowest to hit accurately and each type of arrow has a different level of performance which is just overkill, it's just a wooden shaft with feathers ffs
As far as the NPC thing goes, TES and Fallout do the same thing. As for archery, grind your skills more. Your character is an illiterate peasant that just picked up a weapon, so it makes sense that he would be shit at fighting let alone archery. That being said, it gets easier later on.

Been fucking addicted to this game for like the past week or so and got like 50 hours in already. Historical accuracy gets me hard and I love the Oblivion vibes this game gives. I also love how fast travel and alchemy was handled and think Todd Howard should pay attention and take a few notes for TES VI.
