I don't have a real team yet. Just a mix of mons from my initial run and misc competitive mons that I am currently raising: Mimikyu Toxapex Decidueye Starmie Lycanroc-Night Machamp I'm going to hold off on building my main team until at least Pokebank comes out. I might even wait until UU or RU tiers get released because there's no way in hell I'm playing OU this gen when 75% of the tier is just legendaries/UBs. My in-game teams tend to be pretty mixed tier though, so who knows.

Dex entries are not a really good reason to skip a gen, but tbh you should probably wait until Stars to play Gen 7 anyway. The main story and visuals are nice, but the rest of the game leaves a lot to be desired, and the post game is even more barren than X and Y's. It's another "We'll put all our resources into graphics and skimp on everything else." episode.

For general news, sometimes I'll just Google search a topic and read a few pieces to get a complete picture, because the MSM isn't always reliable, and then check out the same news on my usual list of sources. As for those specific sources, here are the main ones in no particular order:
The Intercept
The Nation
The Wall Street Journal
Reuters
Democracy Now!
NPR
I'm always looking for suggestions.

Maybe before you disregard some news source as "biased," ask yourself how unbiased you are first.
I consider my self a fairly centrist guy, therefore I want a centrist news source. CNN is propaganda, Breitbart is propaganda. I want a news source that will give me both points of view and the motives for each, without down talking whatever goes against X political party's narrative.

CNN, MSNBC, basically anything on TV that isn't FOX really, but FOX is it's own can of worms. As far as the "blatant lies and horse shit", the whole "Fake News" narrative they've been trying to push for the last month or so in order to try and discredit anything that goes against their agenda (mainly as a direct reaction to WikiLeaks), whilst they themselves have been purveying "Fake News" in the form of all the false flag hate crimes supposedly committed by "le ebil racist Trump supporters!", not to mention all the pro-Clinton propaganda they were touting pre-election. They know damn well that their house of cards is falling down, and they're going into meltdown mode to try and prevent it.
