You're all either my chums, my forum associates, someone I respect but don't generally associate with, someone I don't know (of) yet, or someone I can't be bothered to pay attention to.

I try to avoid wasting energy on petty internet squabbles.

The Flood / Re: Since I'll be studying in America for a year. . .

I can tell you a little bit about Texas. Depends where you're going in Texas, if you're going to Texas. I live close to Houston on the east coast about five hours away from New Orleans up in Louisiana.

Spoiler

Around my area, there seems to be a sort of equal mix of the more popular political opinions, since I live in a fairly diverse neighborhood near a big city, people tend to be more left leaning. I suppose since you're going to be pursuing your studies, I bet you'll probably experience something like that. That said, I have encountered people that are still horrified by interracial mingling, so it's still a bit of a mixed bag.

The weather in Texas is bipolar. In the winter it can either really fucking hot, or close to 0 degrees Celsius. The first summer I spent in Texas, I had a hail storm, and while I haven't seen hail since, I tend to get some really bad rain storms around late spring-early summer.

When I first moved to Texas I had a somewhat noticeable English accent. The responses I got were mixed, some people really liked it, some people hated, and some people wept bitter tears when they heard me say "fuck" for the first time and realized I hadn't come straight out of Pride and Prejudice.

People tend to be overly touchy around here, I'm not sure if I just live near people with no concept of personal space or if it's indicative of a more widespread cultural trait.

If you go out to eat, you should tip your waiter, because they're likely scrapped for cash even with a decent tip.

People will tend to take insults to heart more than any of the other places I've lived, so you may consider being a little
wary with how you talk around people before they're able to realize that not every insult is intended as seriously as they might think.

Other than that, I can't think of anything else, you'll probably figure out whatever else there is. I'm sure you'll be clinking glasses with high-level businessmen and all that in no time.

Forgot about guns, If you see a white guy that was born in the US, odds are they have a firearm close by. That rule has more truth to it the further south you go. I shit you not, I know a guy who brought a gun to school on a regular basis. He stopped once the police got a tip that somebody was doing that and put the school on lockdown until they found two firearms plus some sort of homemade gun in his car and arrested him.

Also forgot aboutrace relations within the US. If I recall correctly from my time in England, besides the general tradition of animosity between the English and the French, Scottish, and Irish, the English don't really have much issues between whatever groups people happen to inhabit England's borders. Unfortunately that isn't as much the case in America, due to America's relatively recently major racial conflicts and the various underlying racial tensions that have been in existence since blatant racism became a social taboo. Some places are better than others, and I can't really think of a time in my time here where I've felt any need to consciously exercise more tact than I usually would in a situation between me and someone of a different race, but this may be something you may want to watch out for.

Something about liquids moving around fascinates me.
Like this?

I skipped out on it after I saw the reviews. On a scale from Amazing Spider-Man 2 to The Last Airbender, how shitty was it?

Zealot

I used to pronounce it Zee-lot.

If they wanted us to pronounce it Zeh-lot, they should have spelt it Zelot.

I'll change my avatar back before I go to bed I promise!

Do as you please, I agreed to using this avatar for a week, I don't recall you making a similar promise.
Yeah but.. it's just how I am. I'd feel bad if I didn't

Fair enough. But if you get tired of this, I'm not going to lose my shit over it.
90% of the time I'm as patient as a brick wall, I haven't even broken a sweat

Alrighty.

Your pockets smell like popcorn...

Heh. It's a good thing I'll be judging the stories. So far Rinev is out in front. I'm not a fan of casual killing for its own sake. Even if foxes... sorta are. Hrrrm. :(

So far I think your the only one to post any art, so I guess you're winning.
