I can only say I hope you get somebody to man :/ It is kinda shitty wanting it

I've had it in the past... it just didn't turn out so well. This is the first time in 5 years I've genuinely longed for a conversation with someone.

I'll talk to you for five dollars.

Not really, pretty much once I get on speaking terms with someone I lose most of my interest in them.

Probably the gayest of things we don't know about.

I don't know, Icy could probably teach us some things.

ALL HAIL NORWAY.

I hope for your hypothetical sake that the OP wasn't planning this around the time the Black Plague hit Norway, because your odds of surviving that are just awful.

And if it's before; well, there's a reason a bunch vikings stayed in the places they raided.
1200s Europe. You've got about 100 years until the plague hits.
Ah all good then. :)

Yeah, I think that's like the best you're going to get until Denmark takes control of Norway.

Do the quests have multiple options in regards as to how you end them? And not just the main questline, but one-off quests as well? I'm not sure if you've played enough to be able to answer this, but do you know if your choices matter? Do you get perks for doing something ingame, like in NV where you'd get damage bonuses and the like from killing a certain number of an enemy type and do any perks that you know of have an effect on dialogue?
Don't think so in regards to the killing and perks in dialogue minus the male to female/female to male one.

Dialogue selection isn't as in depth, but the voice acting/convo's themselves are fine.

Quest wise, it's the same as it's ever been in Fallout games. At least so far.

Think I would have preferred they skipped on the voice acting and kept dialogue text-based in that case.

I've only played New Vegas in the Fallout series and the only other BEthesda game I've played was Skyrim so I've only got that to compare it to.

Well yeah there's the old ones as well. Just figured most people think of 3 and everything after, rather than 1/2/Tactics.
I'll actually answer your question for you. May be a bit biased, but I want to give more than just "lol no it sucks" or "omg it's good".

Fallout 4 is similar to NV and 3 in that they are Fallout games with returning elements such as the Brotherhood of Steel, some weapons, enemies, etc. Typical things you'd expect from a sequel in an established universe.

From a technical standpoint, it surpasses both of them. First off, the combat was the main focus they needed improving on, and they did. The gunplay feels fun now like your other FPS's and not so much a chore now a days. ADS is natural, sprint, dynamic cover system, bullet detection solid, and VATS adds a neat component in that not everything comes to a freeze, but goes in slow mo. My only complaint would be there is no bullet time that Project Nevada had, but it'll get modded in.

In terms of depth, it far exceeds what the others did. You can modify your weapons and armor now by limb pieces instead of a whole thing. For example, the armored Vault 101 suit was famous in Fallout 3, but in this game you can actually put the pieces on yourself, CREATE pieces for it, and there are many different ones. Same with the weapons in that there are an abundance of choices for each part of each gun.

Settlement building is also something entirely new, and actually fun to do. I'll just link you a video so I don't make this post longer and you get the general gist of it.

YouTube

As for companions, they are much better than they were in Fallout 3/Skyrim, where they were known for being rather on the boring side. They have personalities now, conversations pop up more as you travel with them, and they'll even contribute to your conversation with other NPC's on the side. Think of it like Mass Effect where you're doing a mission and talking to someone, and Garrus chips in as well. They are also pack mules so yay.

My only complaint about them is the follow distance can be a bit far sometimes, so that can get annoying.

I can't/won't comment on the main story as much because I feel that's up to you to discover, and I feel it's unfair to give an open world game like Fallouts/Elder Scrolls games (or even something like GTA)  a main focus on story missions.

I CAN say however, that it's like Skyrim in one way, and in a GOOD way. You'll run into people talking in conversations (by the way, when you talk to people, it's not always just 1 on 1. Other's can add to the conversation too and actually have back and forth going without the words overlapping) and mention something like say "I heard the so and so factory had so and so happen to it", and you'll get a quest in misc saying to go investigate it. Same with map markers in that talking to some random guard could mark a place on your map.

So overall, I'd say this game is a vast improvement. Anyone who says it's similar and making it sound BAD, are simply looking to hate on it if you ask me. From a technical standpoint, none of the other Fallout games can even compare to it. Same with the amount of depth in this game. I think Bethesda took a lot of criticism from Skyrim (too shallow) and Fallout 3 (brotherhood was too white knight) to heart, and really showed they can improve on it.

They also took direct notes from the modding community and added those things in the game as well (such as dynamic weather and Rad storms), showing they're willing to listen. And obviously mods are another thing.

So yes, I'd say this game is worth your $60 if you're interested in the genre. It will give you hundreds of hours of gameplay, it looks beautiful, it's immersive (the ost's are amazing), and it still has some of the quirky humor Fallout games have, such as funny stories when sneaking and listening to random Raiders talk about stuff.

Edit: And as mentioned before in comments, I'd go with what people here who you know have actually played it say, rather than some anon on some other website. You tend to get a better source that way.
