You don't neccessarily need role models to get along in life. And you don't need to worship them either. You don't even have to aspire to be like them either.
I wouldn't see why it'd be depressing, frankly. Putting too much faith into a role model can, has, and will backfire quickly.
It's nice to have direction in life and can help you reach your goals.
Which can all be done without a role model. No denying that direction and goals are nice. But a role model isn't neccessarily required.
In fact.
You know what most role models tend to do? Average, regular, silly ones? Stupid shit that stupid people follow.
I still think it's beneficial to have a role model.
