Don't play NES or N64 games, the former is blurry and the latter is darker than the original games because MUH MOTION SICKNESS.
Neither of those things bug me too much though. I'm willing to sacrifice a little bit for the convenience, I just don't want crippling input lag to ruin my fun in a game like Castlevania.

Also depending on what games you intend on playing, maybe a SNES would be cheaper. I got one with Yoshi's Island and Super Mario All Stars + Super Mario World for $250 AU in 2013.
Damn that's pretty rad. Well maybe I will do this. My problem with this is how expensive some games are and/or how rare they are. Also, would it matter that much if I don't have a CRT?

I havent noticed any. Then again, I havent played any games where it would really matter. If you're thinking of getting any old school platformers, I'd probably look into it more, but as far as rpgs or whatever, VC is perfect.
Yeah really the whole reason I want one is to play the Castlevania games, Super Metroid, the Mega Man games, etc.

I have an HDTV which also worries me, but I kinda feel like it wont really matter that much unless I play a game like Punch Out
I dunno man, it's your call.
why is my life so hard ;_;

I don't think so, but I saw a gif demonstrating the lag on a mario game.

My problem is I wanna get a Wii U for this reason (and a couple other games), so if I could I'd just buy a cheap game and test it I would, but I gotta buy a Wii U first.
I'd say go for it, simply because I don't think it's an issue and there are even some Wii/Wii U games that I'd recommend you play as well as the Virtual console. Do you have a HDTV or an older one? I hear HD's may be causing some input lag.

I dunno I heard shit about it on /vr/ today when I asked about it, so maybe they had outdated information but I dunno.
Did they specify specific games/platforms or just Virtual Console in general? I'd suggest playing the cheapest game available to test it, but I've never had any problems with NES, N64 and GBA emulations.

I want to play classic oldskool cool games, and the most convenient way for me to do it is through the Wii U/Wii virtual console (I don't want to emulate).
technically, this is emulation

it's just the more socially acceptable form of it (as it should be)

just saying

I haven't noticed any when playing VC games. It should be noticeable when playing Ocarina of Time, but I can play just fine, so I don't think there is any. Maybe it was present in an earlier build and was patched somehow?

But I've heard there is input lag, and I've heard varying degrees of severity from different people. Can anyone with a Wii U shed some light on this for me? Is it that bad? Does it really make a difference? Will I give a shit?

Goddamn I'm having flashbacks from when I first heard dISEMBOWELMENT - A Burial at Ornans and those drums just assaulting my faculties and bringing me to my GODDAMN KNEES

Listen guys, seriously. Check out art damage.
Oh damn this is like Pg. 99

This is not what I was expecting.

Pretty good stuff.  Do you like At the Drive In?

YouTube

Not real familiar with them, any songs you recommend?
Just listen to the whole album Relationship of Command. But try the song Arcarsenal if you like Art Damage
I'm not digging the vocals but the music is pretty tits. He's got kind of a punk rock thing going on and I'm more of a metal core kid.
I hear Art Damage as more Post-Hardcore which is why I rec'd them. You could also try Indian Summer but the instrumentals are different. Also Funeral Diner
Indian Summer - Angry Son just made me cry, you bastard.

Reminds me a lot of sunny day real estate.
Angry Son is a KILLER song

goddamn can that shit make me cry

JESUS LOAF

Thank you for making me listen to dISEMBOWLMENT again. I forgot how amazing they are. An hour long album and it just flies by like you're drifting through the astral plane because it's so good.
Doesn't it go by fast though? I listened to it again this morning and yesterday, like how? It's so fricken good it feels like a 30 minute long album.
I swear dude even some of the best long albums drag on, but that one just floats through your mind in an instant.

It's like being visited by a phantom that leaves spectral footprints on your brain in like 5 minutes
