So I took all the albums that I downloaded from soulseek that I never listened to and put them into a foobar playlist and now I have like hundreds of new albums to check out. It's a bunch of really interesting stuff, pretty dope. I'm listening to ad nauseum right now, the dissonant as fuck metal band I downloaded and forgot about.
lmao nice logo I've been listening to the Knife a lot. It's too bad they're tumblrina tier feminists because their music is great

Dead Space is a series that demands playing on the hardest difficulty.
I don't know why, but even though I did multiple playthroughs of both games, when I ramped the difficulty up as far as I could go, the game got 10x spookier.
Maybe it was because I already knew what was coming, and was dreading the fact that now, instead of walking down a corridor in good confidence and health, I was walking down a corridor with no ammo, low health, filled with enemies who just won't go down and stay down, capable of easily overwhelming me and gutting me on the spot.
The highest difficulty, I think, truly gives a sense of how overwhelmingly frightening necromorphs are to handle.
Dead Space II was awesome by the way. While the first game opened you up to the world, the second does a great job at immersing you in it as you get to know more about it.
I honestly plan on replaying it really soon. Either doing the hardest difficulty or the plasma-cutter only playthrough (but that honestly sounds easy). I might do both at the same time

I really enjoyed the second game, but didn't get around to playing the first and the third stopped focusing on the horror element. Dead Space 2 focuses plenty of the story on the cult part and Issac suffering PTSD and other mental trauma for his ordeal in Dead Space.
I want to like it because I want more of the first game, but I feel like it wont reach the atmospheric perfection that the first game did, and I wont like it nearly as much.
Without spoiling it, there are some sections that are very good at remaking the atmosphere from the first game.
Maybe I'll check it out sometime. It's probably pretty cheap now so it's not a big loss of I don't like it.

I started playing Dead Space again after getting it as a gift a few years ago and never getting around to beating it. I think before this playthrough, I got to about mission 5 and I dropped it. I don't really know why I dropped it but I think I just wasn't invested in the game enough. I was kind of sleep walking through it. So with that in mind, I decided to give the game another shot and GOD DAMN did I love it. I'm just going to write some stuff about my favorite parts of the game. Goddamn does this game ever nail the "dirty" sci-fi feeling. Isaac's armor looks cool as shit, the UI is brilliant with the health bar being ON the suit. The ship itself is pretty lovely in its design; it's futuristic and modern but it looks grimy, dark, and rugged, hence "dirty" sci-fi. It helps that Isaac is basically just a blue collar worker thrust into Hell in space. I also like that the rest of the UI (maps, menus, collectables, etc) are handle in a way that you never get taken out of the world. Everything is handled in the game world, and there are no cutscenes in the game essentially, so the story advances naturally with you. If you like that kind of sci-fi/horror aesthetic, this game has it down perfectly. The shooting is tight and well done, and I especially like the dismemberment mechanic. On the one hand it provides an extra layer of body horror to the game, which is fun, but I think the mechanic itself it really great in that it provides you with something other than headshots to strive for. If you're low on health or you need to reload and you have too many enemies on their way to disembowel you, try shooting off their legs to slow them down with what ammo you have left. This is especially handy when you run out of stasis, as the game is telling you "no, you're not screwed, you just have to try harder if you want to slow them down." The bosses in the game kinda blow, however. There are only about 3 in the game though, so it's not an incredibly big deal, just kind of lackluster. The bosses basically all are handled the same way with little differences here and there. The plot is pretty nice, and appeals to me as a horror fan and a sci-fi fan. I especially like how about half way through the game you begin to peel back the top layer of the story and find all of the little which I love. Overall I am really glad I gave the game another chance. Probably one of my new favorite games. If you play it, though, try to play it at night only. It makes the game a lot better. What do you guys think of Dead Space? Are the sequels any good, or are they garbage?

So far so great! Jim can suck it, this is pretty much the Fallout I know with different gameplay. Other than the top-down perspective and turn-based combat, it's definitely better than Fallout 3, and probably just as good as New Vegas. The locations are memorable, the characters are colorful, and the Enclave is far more intimidating than it was in F3. Oh, and it breaks the fourth wall more than any other game I've seen. I'm a sucker for meta stuff like that.
I'm only in New Reno, but easily a 9/10 game so far.
It's shit
