man buns...
like why
Because women like it for some reason
Women like it if you're a fit, well-dressed, attractive guy, and at that point you could wear your hair however you want.
you also need a beard

When your head is shaved except for the very top, which is shoulder length. Why the fuck is that a thing?
Looks fine on plenty of people. man buns...
like why
Looks really good on some guys. Beard is a requirement. Girls who shave off the side of their head please go.
I mostly hate this but sometimes I love it. No trends

this thread is as impressive as your sex life.
Roman is also someone who has never known the touch of a woman
Perhaps never will
I actually laughed when I saw he quoted it. Why does it seem like anything that has to do with sex Roman is right there to moan and groan? (Or make jokes I suppose, but still)
His obsession is pathetic

I don't have a favorite artist
why not?
Because I actually like good music so it's hard for me to choose my favorite on a list of 10/10 bands.

Wrong. yeah but i'm actually right though
you literally just said that a group of ten or twenty songs has less describable elements than just one song
Which can be true. the length and compositional complexity decides how many describable elements are in a single piece. This is one piece: It has movements, each with their own set of distinct elements. If you have an album comprised of just pieces like this, you are given a set of songs, each with their own distinct movements and themes inside of them. If you have one piece that is incredibly long and takes up the majority of the time of the album, this piece alone has more quantifiable elements to it than the album does (so long as the rest of the pieces aren't ultra complex for some reason), provided you are ranking the album by "good tracks and bad tracks." Yes' album Close to the Edge has a nearly 20 minute long opening song and only three songs in total. Ranking an album by "this song is good and this song is bad" is way more shallow than reviewing a piece and its movements/themes. What I'm saying is, it depends on the complexity of the composition and the way you are reviewing the album.

oh, and the fact that numbers can be misinterpreted
6/10 is considered "bad" when it's actually good, just not great
This is another reason they're garbage.
2323
« on: January 02, 2016, 05:12:42 PM »
because there are more quantifiable elements
Wrong. But yes numbers lack nuance, which is why reviews are far better. You are able to learn what to expect rather than just take an arbitrary number at face value. I don't think I'm nearly eloquent enough to write reviews or I would more often.

The same way you can rate an album out of 10
Dipshit
yeah but my line of thinking was that you can actually add up the number of good songs on a record, and base your rating off that
I find numbers arbitrary and stupid anyway. Reviews sans numbers are the way to go.

Paint it Black and Wild Horses
They're both like 7/10
i don't understand how you can rate a single song out of ten
you either like it or you don't like it or you think it's okay
The same way you can rate an album out of 10 Dipshit

Sympathy for the devil by the Rolling Stones is absolute top tier.

Yes with maybe rare exceptions.
I cannot think of a single band where I can say with confidence what my favorite song of theirs is.
it's not hard for me just because i keep a mental record of how a song makes me feel when i listen to it
if i'm not a NIN fan because i can say with confidence what my favorite NIN song is, then i guess i'm not a NIN fan i'm just a person who has highly enjoyed 80-90% of NIN's material (whatever you wanna call that)
you and i have always looked at music differently, so i can see how we'd differ in philosophy here but in general, there's many things that factor into picking my favorite song
but really, it all boils down to how many times i can listen to it without getting bored
I just can't do it. I really love Slayer but I can't choose between At Dawn they Sleep, Die by the Sword, Necrophiliac etc.

If you can actually pick ONE favorite song from your favorite bands you don't actually like music.

I'm kidding bruv. It's more like I'm just too lazy to do it right now.
No what I'm saying is if you can actually pick a single song as your favorite you don't actually like the band. I can't pick a favorite song for any of the artists I like.
