Was it really that bad?
The stress was immense, and I don't feel safe there anymore. Last week a guy ended up shaking me while screaming/laughing "BUT I DON'T WANNA LEAVE!!" after I told him he had to leave. He left bruises on my arm. We have had the cops talk to him multiple times about not staying on our porch after we leave, because he will just sit there all night and still be there in the morning. A lot of creepers hang out around that location.

Jim, how is any band going to get there? Bands have to tour to get popular enough to be picked up.
Get where? Where is this imaginary place called "there"? A while back, bands gained a cult following through tape trading and playing shows. Piracy is modern day tape trading. It is every bit as beneficial. If these bands weren't composed of absolute braindead snotmonkeys they would take this issue into their own hands and put their music up on Bandcamp or a similar website for either free, dirt cheap or pay what you want. They even have the option of temporary free streaming (until you buy the album, in which case you get unlimited streaming, obviously). NOBODY makes money this way. This is art, this isn't something that is going to net you shitloads of cash unless you play the right music and get stupid lucky.

If bands really want to make more money, they need to establish a strong fanbase and cater to those fans to counter the damage done from piracy. But instead they choose to whine instead of rolling with the punches and adapting to the world, because you can't fight the progression of technology.
Piracy is wrong because it's thievery, I completely agree with that and I don't pirate, but I also refuse to buy an album if I can't hear it in its entirety at least a few times before I buy it. Bandcamp lets you do this, so fucking use bandcamp.
Either way, I don't think digital music should even cost anything, since it costs NOTHING to produce. Physical copies, of course, must come with a price, so make them worth it.

The band makes jack shit because NOBODY makes shit playing music anymore outside of pop music. You will NEVER make enough money to support yourself on album sales unless you're Lady GaGa or the like.
Thy Art Is Murder is not anywhere CLOSE to popular enough to sustain themselves off of album sales, even if people didn't pirate. Band like that make the most money off of merch and playing shows. Most bands can't even sustain themselves on that, so they have other jobs.
Being in a band is not even a feasible way to support yourself. It's more or less impossible.
