Listening to this and it's pretty good. Little bit lacking in individuality, though. It sort of reminds me of a Radiohead in parts but feels a little more like Modern Pop than their early stuff did. They've shaken off their early Post Punk ideas, though, so I can't say I'm surprised it sounds this way.

Not bad though.

It sounds alright. It's just like, I can't listen to bands like this without thinking to myself, why does this sound just like the death metal bands of the 90s? It's like, yeah it's not bad. I was listening to the album rhapsodies in red by disastrous murmur recently, that album is fucking primitive and savage. That style can be emulated, but there's something about being truly oldschool that - maybe because in my mind it feels like a carbon copy - can never match the true sound of bands like autopsy, rottrevore, infester, disastrous murmur, accidental suicide, deteriorate. How I imagine bands like this, are a bunch of dudes obsessed with death metal, but not willing to venture outside of their comfort zone, so they simply worship the sound of the oldschool.

I dunno I think Condemner has a relatively unique little sound they've carved out. Everyone is inclined to say the riffs are more melodic than you would expect (not in the sense of Melo Death) and I'm inclined to agree. It's just pretty barebones Death Metal, which I think is where you get that idea from. I don't have a problem at all with oldschool worship, though. I appreciate bands trying new things but I also like to hear individual takes on tried and true sounds. Not everyone can be Gorguts, Demilich, Infester, early At the Gates or even Candlemass.

Voidward is definitely an album you have to be ready for. It took me a while before I went into it with the right state of mind. Now I'm listening to it over and over again. I would say it's not an album where you follow the flow and anticipate the next step, it's more like an album you let carry you. It's not like electric wizard where you're waiting for that one freaking amazing riff so you can air guitar in time, it's way different.

It was just really fun and I didn't have much to worry about at the time. We'd just go off and explore the ranch and do semi-dangerous shit. There were cool things like abandoned areas of the ranch that we'd explore. We'd play games n shit too
