Oh my God.
I also just found out that, last year, a motion to condemn ISIS in the NUS failed because it would be "Islamaphobic".
There's privilege, and then there's being so far removed from any legitimate world threats that you start antagonizing your minorities and defending the extremists. Academia is fucking doomed.
Just join STEM, where women and minorities are culled through years of calculus.

Anti-natalism from, say, a radical environmentalist mindset, could be genocidal. Say a group decides humans should die out because they encroach on natural habitats and pollute the earth. They sterilize themselves and begin forcibly sterilizing everyone else. This is pretty close to genocide.
I think I recall Verb saying that he believes abortions should be mandatory at some point. So that might qualify for the kind of thing you're talking about.
I think he was joking.

So like Cabin - Pilot and Copilot Pilot goes to the loo, Stewardess goes into the cockpit and waits for his return
Something like that would be a decent failsafe without any extra resources or training.
So stewards will also need training in piloting the aircraft, self defense, and potentially psychology.

Oh, don't pretend like it's not a valid statement.
It's not, especially in this thread. That sentiment is thrown around any time Republicans try to pass any bill. In this case, it's a former politician recommending a standing governor adopt legislation to reduce government seizure of citizens' assets. It's literally the opposite of overreach.
Uh, I'm agreeing with Gary Johnson here. It's stuff like this that made him leave the Republicans.
I'm very confused here. What does this have to do with Republicans at all?

I think it's disingenuous to call it genocidal in its current state, though the parallels are there.

Republicans: against government overreach until it benefits themselves
Are we posting non-sequiturs in this thread? My cat likes to play with laundry lint.

Does anyone actually question the fact that Hamas regularly hides their military behind civilians? There are well documented reports of them disguising hospitals or schools as military targets so they can call Israel baby-killers. It's obvious Hamas is using Palestine to attack Israel, and doesn't really give a shit about their welfare. It's pretty indisputable that Hamas is the aggressor, and is an out-of-control anti-semitic terrorist organization.

War in Afghanistan - NO! Get the fuck out of there. Quit making the same mistake the Soviet Russians did.
The war in Afghanistan was arguably the most justified war fought by the U.S. since WWII.
Closely followed by Iraq.
Honestly, Iraq--despite its flaws--was one of the best decisions Bush ever made. Better than his shitty domestic decisions, anyway.
Yeah, Iraq was a good decision. The number of people that still think it was a response to 9/11 astound me, and I don't like to bring it up here because few have shown any understanding of the topic.

Weird, you'd think that'd be covered by the Unborn Victims of Violence Act.
Well this did happen in Colorado...
The Act applies to federal crimes; I'm assuming the attacker is being charged with something along the lines of felony assault, and since all felonies are federal crimes, then the child was killed during federal crime and is protected by said Act. The Unborn Victims of Violence Act of 2004 (Public Law 108-212) is a United States law which recognizes a child in utero as a legal victim, if they are injured or killed during the commission of any of over 60 listed federal crimes of violence. I'm no lawyer, but I don't see why this doesn't apply.

I don't need motivation to get out of bed. I'm not sure why anyone would actually need a stimulus to live their life.

“Oh but, it’s racist to ban someone on the basis of their skin colour, and sexist to ban them on their gender,” cry the assembly chorus of confused souls trying to turn the language of progress into a weapon to further entrench the establishment. It’s not. Cool, blacks and women will go to a different college from men, then. That's not racist or sexist, because we're enlightened collegiate youths. And when they graduate, it'll be in a class of 100% minorities; truly a victory for equality.

I find it ironic that most would claim the role of police shouldn't be as aggressive enforcers, and then we have debates like this.
Yes, women should absolutely be officers and guards. Just look at all the fatass cops out there; do you seriously believe that Paul Blart is more effective than some motivated woman just because he's got a Y in his genome?

It's a bit disturbing how quickly the story changed. Can you imagine how his family must feel, or how they'll feel if the investigation concludes that it was mechanical?
The evidence against him is that he was calm and conscious at the time of the descent, and the rate of descent would have required manual operation of the controls.

It looks like he has a handful of policies I'd agree with, but at the same time the other handful I don't.
Yeah, mostly his extreme stance on social issues is what turns him off to me. Saying stuff like he'll abolish the IRS doesn't mean anything except he'll be conservative in taxation. Stuff I like: -Excellent politician, speaker, campaigner, organizer, etc. -Very smart/respectable education -Stands out from Conservative crowd by taking action Stuff I don't like: -Literal, textual reader of the Constitution. If it doesn't specifically say it, it shouldn't be law Basically, he's the candidate the Republicans need, but not the platform.

my straight-edge friend tried telling me that LSD stores in your spine and can make you trip at a random point
Okay, how cool would that be if it was more limited? Like, you take a drug at the start of a party and at random intervals you get awesome highs for a bit, then it fades, then it comes back again later, several times?

Ted Cruz's viability as a Presidential candidate is similar to that of Santorum in 2012. He's going to stay in as long as possible, win a handful of electorates, but have no chance of winning.
This sentiment is the exact reason I made this thread. Cruz makes a living off of people underestimating him.
No - he makes a living in a similar fashion that McCarthy did. Cause drama for no good reason.
If you really think his actions were simple grandstanding, you really don't understand his motivations -- or his talent. There's no point in being flippant about him; he's a legitimate threat in the campaign.
